TEAM NEWS: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Steve Morison said Cardiff have a "mixed bag" when it comes to recovering from the illness bug they were hit with at the weekend.

Ryan Wintle, Jordan Hugill, Uche Ikpeazu, Alfie Doughty, Mark Harris and Rubin Colwill were all struck by an illness within 24 hours of the Fulham game, some of them even in the hours leading up to kick-off.

And Morison has said some have recovered, while others have since become ill with the bug.

Elsewhere, Max Watters is still out after rolling his ankle in training, while Curtis Nelson (calf) is also absent.

Sean Morrison and Isaac Vassell have both been ruled out for the season.

'Mixed bag' injury and illness update

Morison has also revealed that his players have not fully recuperated from their bout of illness at the weekend.

Cardiff's side was decimated in the 24 hours leading up to the defeat by Fulham, with as many as six players stricken by a sickness bug and forcing huge changes to the lineup.

It was hoped that they would all make a swift recovery, but it doesn't seem as though that has happened as they gear up for the Derby County game on Tuesday night.

STEVE MORISON:

"It’s a mixed bag," Morison said of the club's illness woes. "Some new ones, some ones who were ill are slightly better.”

"We are going to have to address all that tomorrow, early. We will be all right.

"It hasn’t just come upon us this time, whereas it came out of nowhere on Friday. We will be in a slightly different place to what we were on Saturday.

"You have to just adopt the attitude of, ‘there’s not a lot you can do about it’. The analysts have to be on their toes, us as staff, the players.

"James Collins went from training with the under-23s on Saturday morning to playing a game of football. We all need to be ready.”

The Opposition's Manager - Wayne Rooney

Rooney took the Derby job in 2020 and has done well there.

Despite a 21 point deduction, he has given them a fighting chance of staying up - they are 8 points from safety.

He recently rejected the chance to have an interview for the Everton job due to wanting to fulfill his contract with Derby. Eventually, it was his former England teammate Frank Lampard who took over at Goodison Park.

In his playing days he had a very successful career with clubs such as Everton and Manchester United.

Opposition Dangerous Players

With star man Tom Lawrence suspended, Colin Kazim-Richards will be expected to step up.

Ex Cardiff City player Ravel Morrison is likely to play.

Will be at this game and looking forward to it.

Was also there on Saturday where we struggled to really test the Fulham goalkeeper but did look capable of causing problems a few times - as well as limiting them to their fewest shots they've had all season. Fulham are on a different level to anyone else in the league.

If we put in a similar performance tomorrow, I believe we'll get the three points.

Hugill is apparently available again which will make a big difference.

Match facts:

Cardiff have won seven of their last 11 home league matches against Derby County (D2 L2), including each of the last two.

This is the first league meeting between Cardiff and Derby this season. It is the latest into a season Cardiff have faced a side for the first time since 2009-10 (vs Leicester, March 13) and the latest Derby have done so since 1995-96 (vs Watford, March 5).

Cardiff have lost seven of their last 10 midweek matches in the Championship (Tues, Weds, Thurs), winning the other three.

Nonetheless, they have won their last two such matches on home soil, against Peterborough (4-0) and Coventry (2-0).

Derby failed to win any of their six league matches in the month of March last year (P6 D2 L4), failing to score in five of those matches. Their first game in March last year was also away to Cardiff, a 4-0 defeat.

Derby have lost each of their last three league matches away to clubs based in Wales, winning on just three of their last 19 such trips (D7 L9).

Fully expect City to win this. Last 2 games have been against higher places opposition and City have played into their hands by ceding too much possession and wasting what little they had and missed several decent chances and conceded 3 dreadful goals all from crosses into the area.
Tonight hopefully City will be more offensive and play up the pitch with some tempo with both wing backs getting forward, and have a different strike force and central midfield; Collins and Vaulks should not be picked unless there are still fitness doubts.
Derby won’t be coming for a draw. City need to be more clinical and efficient tonight.

I think with all the illness issues it's too difficult to call the team selection never mind the result :o

In all seriousness, as long as Drameh, Doughty, Wintle and Hugill are fit enough to start I'd be fairly optimistic for tonight. They are key players right now although Bagan can cover for Doughty.

Hopefully nobody else was come down with this bug and we can enjoy a good performance tonight.

Positive start from City, they break and Hugil lets a shot off from 20 yards, but it's blocked.

Drameh drills in a low cross and it's cleared for a corner by Derby. Ralls will take.

But it's cleared.

The clearance falls to Doyle 30 yards out and he smashes a half volley and it dips over Allsop before clattering into the bar!

Derby are trying their utmost with these crossfield balls over Bagan, but he keeps nodding them out into touch. Good work from him so far.

Sloppy from Cardiff. McGuinness gives the ball away and it allows Buchanan to break down the left. But he drags his shot from the corner of the box miles wide of the mark.

Isaak Davies is one-on-one with Curtis Davies after an interception on halfway. The Welshman tries to nick it past his counterpart, but the Rams defender does well to stop the Bluebirds striker getting past him and through on goal.
