TEAM NEWS: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Cardiff City will be without Curtis Nelson for this midweek clash owing to a calf injury.

Obviously Kieffer Moore has left the club to join Bournemouth, as well as Tom Sang, Ciaron Brown, Kieron Evans and Keenan Patten, who all sealed deadline-day loan exits.

Isaac Vassell is still the long-term absentee, but other than that, Cardiff are reporting a clean bill of health.

New signing Uche Ikpeazu will also be available for selection.

Barnsley signings Amine Bassi, on loan from Metz, and Domingos Quina, on loan from Watford will be available for the hosts.

Match facts

Barnsley have won just one of their last 15 Football League games against Cardiff (D5 L9), with each of the last two meetings ending in a draw.

Cardiff have lost just one of their previous 11 Football League trips to Barnsley (W7 D3), with that defeat coming in November 2009 courtesy of a Carl Dickinson winner.

Barnsley have lost two of their three home league games on a Wednesday this season (W1), having lost just one of the previous 12 (W5 D6).

Cardiff are without a win in four Championship away games (D2 L2), two of which have taken place in 2022 (D1 L1), they haven’t failed to win any of their first three Football League away games in a calendar year since 2015 (run of four – D2 L2).

Cardiff’s James Collins has five goals in seven Football League appearances against Barnsley, all of which were scored during his time at Luton.

Still sticking up for Vasell I see Sven.Just like you do for Bacuna By the way do you still believe Reading are safe like you said a couple of weeks ago?

Show me where I stick up for Bacuna, please? :?:

If you are going to make a point and defend your oppo, at least do it properly...

Also, explain to me where Vassell's situation is anywhere near those of certain other individuals?

My guess (oh, the irony) is that Rees is making assumptions and you are just jumping on a particular bandwagon

It's all about opinions though; and mine is that Vassell has been very unlucky rather than lead-swinging

My prerogative, as it is yours to answer for other people ;)

The thing is Sven, despite what you say you are pretty quick to criticise posters you do not agree with.Like me when I had a justifable pop at Bacuna a few weeks ago
That said,I actually agree with you most of the time as like you I am not in the anti Tan brigade

Thank you for that response and I can appreciate to an extent

What I do is not quite criticism but I do have a style that can come across like that to some. Hopefully, I was respectful when making my point that I believe Bacuna has been played well out of position, which gives him some leeway, as he hasn't shied away from games like certain others (Moore now included)

You may or not agree, but people do seem to seek a 'scapegoat' when things start going wrong

That said, he wouldn't be my choice for a regular spot and I wouldn't extend his contract

Equally, I don't think that (a new contract) is even a debate regarding Vassell, who I understand has the full support of the club as he seeks to recover from his personal nightmare and this is borne out by the club not 'paying him off'

Stay safe and look forward to future agreements and/or disagreements :thumbright:

Barnsley are now only the fourth second tier team this century to stand at less than 15 points after 27 games .

Also they have failed to score in four of their last five home fixtures.

Apart from their very poor form , they have a lot of injuries .

It will be a big disappointment if we do not win tonight ….. and frankly ….convincingly so.
