The Opposition's Manager - Gary Rowett

Gary Rowett took charge at Millwall in 2019, succeeding Neil Harris - who would go on to manage Cardiff City.

He has done a good job at Millwall, having kept them in the Championship for the last two seasons.

He began his managerial career at Burton Albion in 2012, where he made a name for himself by doing a brilliant job. In his first two full seasons he led the team to the League Two play-offs, but losing in the semi-final in 2013 and the final in 2014.

He left Burton in October 2014 to take the job at Birmingham City. He was born in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire and was a lifelong supporter of Birmingham. He once again earned plaudits in the media as he managed guided Birmingham to a 10th placed finish, having been in 21st when he took over. Birmingham had a change of ownership and Rowett was sacked in December 2016, with the club in 7th place in the Championship. Birmingham fans were unhappy with the decision. Gianfranco Zola took over until he was sacked April following a spell of two wins in 24 games and they ended up just about surviving relegation.

Rowett returned to management not long after leaving Birmingham, when he was appointed as Derby County manager in March 2017. They finished that season in 9th place, having been in 10th when he took over. In his first full season, the season of the infamous snow-gate, he successfully guided Derby to the play-offs. But they were beaten by Fulham in the semi finals and these games proved to be Rowett's last as Derby manager.

He left Derby to take the vacant managerial position at Stoke City in May 2018, they had just been relegated from the Premier League. He spent a lot of money that summer but Stoke struggled throughout the first half of the season, even being close to the relegation zone, and Rowett was sacked in January 2019. His next job would be when he took over as Millwall manager in October of that year.

Opposition Dangerous Players

Jed Wallace is the main danger and has already scored two league goals in three matches this season. He also scored double figures in the league in the last two seasons.

Ex-Cardiff City player Scott Malone is Millwall's regular left wing back. He scored in their Carabao Cup First Round victory over Portsmouth.

Previous Meeting

We drew 1-1 at home to Millwall at the end of January. Aden Flint scored an own goal in the first half, before Kieffer Moore equalised in the last 20 minutes

Mullwall always seems to end in a draw. Last win I think I saw was the 2-1 home win when Keogh grabbed a last minute winner about 2010/11

What's the latest team news?

Cardiff have no fresh injury concerns following their dramatic late show against Peterborough United on Tuesday night.

Kieffer Moore and Rubin Colwill, both of whom came off the bench that night, could now be ready to start against the Lions, but Isaac Vassell, Isaak Davies and Lee Tomlin all remain out.

Meanwhile, the visitors have been without injured pair Mason Bennett and Shaun Hutchinson, but boss Gary Rowett otherwise has a full squad to choose from.

The last seven Championship matches between Cardiff City and Millwall have ended as a draw, with both games ending 1-1 last season.

Only five previous fixtures in Football League history have seen eight consecutive draws, most recently Brentford vs Notts County between 2007 and 2012.

Millwall are winless in eight away league matches against Cardiff (D6 L2) since a 1-0 win February 2005 in which there were three red cards.

Cardiff have only lost three of their 26 matches in all competitions under Mick McCarthy (W12 D11) and avoided defeat despite being two goals behind at Peterborough, drawing 2-2, the second time they’ve come from 2+ goals down under McCarthy to draw 2-2, also doing so against Barnsley in January.

Millwall have only won five of their last 37 away Football League matches in Wales (D19 L13) and scored just six times in their last 11 visits there (W1 D6 L4).

Cardiff manager Mick McCarthy hasn’t lost any of his last seven home matches in all competitions against former club Millwall (W5 D2) since a 1-0 defeat at the Stadium of Light as Sunderland boss in August 2003.

Incredible block!

Morrison sloppy at the back and concedes possession to Malone, who drives in a crosses to Afobe. The Lions striker look to poke it home from just a matter of yards out, but Nelson slides in and deflects the shot behind for a corner.

Excellent harrying by Mark Harris. Forces Evans to put the ball out for a corner.

More great work from Harris and it's appreciated by the City fans.

Intercepts a pass near the touchline and forces a throw-in. Pack to launch one...

Come on City win another football match.

The ball is half-cleared to Pack, but he scuffs his volley and it trickles out for a goal kick.

Pack has done brilliantly there. Wallace looking to break away for Millwall but the City midfielder puts his body in the way to force a throw on the far side.

Could have been a dangerous counter, that.

Jake Cooper one of the few centre backs who is able to give Aden Flint a run for his money in the air.

Another quick Lions break just has City backpeddling. Malone is found by a lovely Jed Wallace pass and hits a dangerous cross.

Morrison clears before the official flags for a foul on the City skipper.

Free-kick to City. 30 yards out after Jake Cooper's heavy challenge on Moore in the air.

Pack will take it, Flint is telling him where he wants it...

Chance!

Pack floats it to the back post and it finds Flint, but Tuesday's two-goal hero can't keep it down and heads over the bar.
