TEAM NEWS: :bluebird: :bluebird:

MICK McCARTHY is expected to play a strong team, but mainly the rest of the first team squad that never played v Barnsley :bluebird: :bluebird:

Will Vaulks expected to play after his suspension :bluebird:

Mick McCarthy has already said he is likely to mix up his team selection for this clash.

Striker Kieffer Moore could be handed a start after coming off the bench in the 1-1 draw with Barnsley, while midfielder Will Vaulks may also be in contention after being ruled out of the Championship opener through suspension.

It remains to be seen whether Josh Murphy will be involved following his recent run out for the under-23s, while there are still concerns over the likes of Lee Tomlin, Isaac Vassell, Isaak Davies, Kieron Evans and Rubin Colwill.

Sutton could also make changes, with duo Richie Bennett and Ricky Korboa coming off the bench for the recent clash with Forest Green, and could well start form the off here.

The Opposition's Manager - Matt Gray

Matt Gray was appointed as Sutton's manager in May 2019, having already been on the coaching staff since December 2018.

He guided Sutton to an unexpected title win in the National League last season.

This is his first job as a manager since departing as Eastleigh's manager in 2011.

In that time he has held assistant manager jobs at Aldershot, Crawley and Sutton - he was also caretaker manager at Aldershot for 15 games in 2015.

Opposition Dangerous Players

Harry Beautyman scored eleven goals for Sutton in the National League last season and is a dangerous goalscoring midfielder.

Enzio Boldewijn is probably their most impressive signing of the summer so far.

A bit surprised about the optimism for this game. Has anyone noticed that we have been utterly abysmal in cup competitions in recent years and almost over get turned over by teams form lower divisions. We will field a scratch side that will have never played together before who will know that the manager does not care whether we win or lose in fact would probably prefer us to lose so we can concentrate on the league whilst pretending he takes the cup seriously. Think that the 15-2 on Sutton is not bad odds if they field a full strength side.

Vaulks was sent off against Wycombe. The first 2 matches of the suspension were served last season against Rotherham and Birmingham

1 nil Sutton United

GOAL! Cardiff City 0-1 Sutton United (Wilson 4)
Goal! Donovan Wilson taps home!

David Ajiboye is found by a long ball by the keeper and squares a cross to the backpost, where Wilson nips in front his man and taps in.

Not what the hosts wanted.

Seems The tactics of kicking it from wing to wing (and missing the ball so it goes into touch) and then back to the keeper aren’t working. What are the odds.

Finally a bit of possession for City and they use it well, knocking it about the midfield before Tom Davies nods a cushioned header into Harris. He finds Wintle, who knocks it to Vaulks in midfield and his strike from range is deflected over.

Will Vaulks curls a cross far too close to the keeper and it's gathered by Dean Bouzains.
