A Loss, But Lee Tomlin: ' Cardiff City (This Tuesday ) '

Mon Mar 15, 2021 4:44 pm

Cardiff City U23’S lost away to QPR U23’S

Two young sides.

But Lee Tomlin played 90mins :thumbright:

Charlie Kelman's strike wins it for QPR 1-0 could of been 2nil.

Also Tomlin had a good chance and played 90 mins :thumbright:

Ratcliffe had a chance.

Team Announced :bluebird:

So it’s a young QPR team v a young Cardiff City team :bluebird:

Including Lee Tomlin starting.

Five changes: Ratcliffe, McWilliams, Davies, Patten & Evans start!

CARDIFF CITY'S U23'S TRAVEL TO PLAY QPR'S U23'S.

U23 | The #Bluebirds are at @QPR in the PDL - 2pm KO! :bluebird:

Mick McCarthy will want an update on Lee Tomlin who was suppose to have been fit enough to be back in the first team by the beginning of March. Mick McCarthy had said that when he took over, he was hoping to see Tomlin in the first team squad by now but says Tomlin is still a long way of Micks fitness level.

Big Mick is now hoping Tomlin will be fit enough in April as Mick has stated a fully fit Tomlin is a good player.
It will be six months since Tomlin last played for the Bluebirds first team.

A lot more of the Academy players will be travelling tomorrow as most of the Senior ones will be on duty for the First team at home to Stoke City tomorrow night.

QPR U23'S v CARDIFF CITY U23'S
H-T 0-0

Tomlin has to go down as one of our worst ever signings for what he cost and his wages, three and a half years and whats he played for us?

Re: ' Cardiff City Tomorrow '

Mon Mar 15, 2021 4:59 pm

City cant risk many of the players knocking on the door of the first team, so hopefully only Tutu and Tomlin play tomorrow of recognised players.

Glad Jordi Osei-Tutu is on the verge of returning to the first team,as to Tomlin if he cant get back in this season then its time to move him on :thumbright: :ayatollah:

Hardly our worst signing though is he :laughing6: I could think of loads more.
We wouldn't of made playoffs last year without him and look now he could be the star in April and he could get us promotion next season

Mate answer this, in three and a half years, 50 plus appearances, fee of 3million, £100,000 a month, thats over £7mill and your saying he is worth it, what has he done the rest of the time other than eat burgers. Seriously though if we depended on Tomlin we would of been relegated the rest of the seasons.

Thats the problem mate, its all ifs and he could???

He hasn't been on 25k a week since he joined and I'd imagine forest and Peterborough were paying a percentage of his wage when he was out on loan. New contract was on reduced terms as well.

The fact we had to rely on him shows the lack of creativity in the squad in recent years.

I just found this Gents

7th December 2017 Wales on line

Neil Warnock has hit out at the “ridiculous” claims from Peterborough’s chairman over the money Cardiff City are paying Lee Tomlin – but admitted the mercurial midfielder needs to do more to earn a regular Bluebirds place.

£28,000 a week, wow and I was told £25,000 a week and t thought that was way to
much.

Compared to Andreas Cornelius I’d say he was pretty good.

That is true!

I know the club are guilty of wasting a lot of money. But I doubt we gave Tomlin 28k a week when in the championship. Even after promotion to the prem i think the highest we went was 30k with smithies.

wasting a lot of money compared to who ? you really do not have to look far or hard to figure other clubs have payed more than we have for players whose contributions at those clubs have been less....
Tomlin... i think most peoples gripe is that a big chunk of his unavailability lies at his door...

What have other clubs got to do with our spending? If another club wastes 20mill and we waste 10mill, we have still wasted 10mill. It doesnt mean its acceptable just because another club has wasted more. That's a pretty shitty business model to follow.

2 promotions and still in a considerable amount of debt says it all really. The fact that we had to rely on such an unreliable player also shows how poor our spending has been.

OK, flip your argument and compare our spending to Brentford who have actually made a profit - without promotion. So does that mean we have wasted money now? Or does that logic only apply to teams who are in a worse situation than us? Comparing our poor spending to another teams poor spending doesnt justify anything.

Im judging it by the financial position of the club :? With 2 promotions we really shouldn't still be in the debt we are in and we should probably have a better squad than we do. Where has all that cash gone if it hasn't been wasted?

Re: ' Cardiff City (This Tuesday ) '

Tue Mar 16, 2021 12:53 pm

Have to say I am getting increasingly annoyed with Tomlin as I suspect is McCarthy. He recovered from injury some a few weeks ago and still isn't fit enough to play for the first team why. If he can't do too
much training is case he aggravates an injury that is one thing if he is not fit because he can't be arsed to do enough training that is another. He looked overweight in his last appearance for the under 23s there is no excuse for that even if he can't train 100% he can still control what he eats and drinks.

Coming round to the view that despite his ability, and god knows we need a bit of class in midfield,he is a waste of space.

Brentford seem to be doing miracles ... but can you really take probably the best example of buying to sell as the yardstick when its a pretty unique project ?
most clubs buy players for no other reason than to improve the team or replace players leaving / retiring / getting older / or not quite what a new manager might like...and if doing that you find a gem its a bonus ..i dont see our spending as poor mate... the players we have bought are generally playing and contributing and are value for money...in fact we have got value for money regarding overall spend over appearances for a while.... our ongoing never ending gobstopper debt ? ...you explain it to me.... its a long time now since Malky and OGS were backed big , hundreds of millions have come into the club since yet its all i read is debt and waste....and no idea where the money has gone.... but i dont think you can point to transfer fees when you look at what others spend...
