MY VIEW: TODAY CARDIFF HAD THEIR CHANCE TO BEAT A DEPLETED B

Sat Feb 06, 2021 4:57 pm

MY VIEW / OPINION:

TODAY CARDIFF HAD THEIR CHANCE TO BEAT A DEPLETED BRISTOL C SIDE AND THEY NOT ONLY BEAT THE WORZELS / THEY BEAT THEM WITH EASE & IT THE WIN NEVER LOOKED IN DOUBT :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Thats 3 games for Big Mick, NO DEFEATS :bluebird: :bluebird: 5pts from 9pts :bluebird:

Cardiff go up to 14th in the Championship.

Harry Wilson started for the first time under Big Mick.

Cardiff won this game with so much ease and Bristol City were just never in the game, you could see they are a side that is missing so many players.

Big Mick, used all his first team players today as he said he would, it was not the right game to bring on Accaedemy players, We need wins and this was one of them :bluebird: :bluebird:

9 Bristol City first team players were out injured.
Bristol City have lately had terrible injury problems and their squad depleted badly, they've been sliding down the table just like Cardiff.

Two Academy players included in match day squad as agreed Joel Bagan & Tom Sang :thumbright: :bluebird:

First-half: Cardiff dominated and deserved their goals including Keiffer Moores 11th of the season :bluebird: :bluebird:

Second-half: Bristol City, were no threat, no rhythm, Cardiff just looked so comfortable.

CARDIFF CITY’S FIRST WIN FOR 10 GAMES :bluebird:

BRISTOL CITY 0 CARDIFF CITY 2 :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:
H-T 0-2

Alex Smithies, Perry Ng, Curtis Nelson, Aden Flint, Sean Morrison, Joe Bennett
Will Vaulks, Joe Ralls, Harry Wilson, Sheyi Ojo, Kieffer Moore

Subs: Dillon Phillips, Joel Bagan,Tom Sang ,Marlon Pack, Leandro Bacuna,Junior Hoilett
Josh Murphy, Mark Harris,Max Watters

Quite a good start from Cardiff, both sides scrappy.

12 mins Smithies got injured and was replaced by Dillon Phillips, Smithies was stretchered off

YES 19mins GOAL! Bristol City 0-1 Cardiff City (Nelson 19) :bluebird:
Wilson unleashes a peach of a delivery and Nelson was there to flick it into the net from six yards :bluebird: :bluebird:

27th min GOAL! Bristol City 0-2 Cardiff City (Moore) :bluebird:
A Lovely touch from Ojo allowed him to get a cross away and Moore was there to nod home. 2-0. :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Keefer Moore 11th goal of the season :bluebird: :bluebird:

After 40 mins gone, Cardiff looked so comfortable and in control :bluebird: :bluebird:

City replacement goalie Dillon Phillips, had nothing to do :bluebird:

H-T 0-2 :bluebird: :bluebird:

Bristol City looked a little better , but Cardiff looked solid.

60th min Bristol C
Triple change Massengo, Mariappa and Williams made way for Palmer, Taylor Moore and Jamie Paterson.

City looked comfortable again like the first-half :bluebird: :bluebird:

75 mins Harry Wilson was replaced by Marlon Pack

79mins Ojo came off Bacuna on

Bristol City, were no threat, no rhythm, Cardiff just looked so comfortable.

Birmingham now bottom 3

Really good performance today.

We also played well against Millwall in our last game, but crucially today we took full advantage of our dominance.

A big win and Mick McCarthy set us up perfectly to win this. His tactics and team selection were proved to be spot on :thumbright:

Up to 14th now and have a six point gap over Birmingham in the bottom three - we won't go down.

I also don't think we'll make the play-offs, but eleven points off Bournemouth in the top six with a game in hand after today.

Terrible game but got the result we needed move on to Rotherham now. Looks like MM has stopped the rot. Wilson was getting the treatment again and got little protection from a terrible referee.

A wins a win especially when it’s a severnside Derby but how piss poor we’re Bristol, absolutely awful. We controlled the game and could easily have scored more.
Hope Smithies is ok.
Waulks my MOTM.
Next up the in form Rotherham.

Very good win. And so very much needed for all. Congrats to all the 18 man squad, MM and TC.

Let's not get blown away. Results today still mean we are only 6 pts above relegation. A loss could not have been contemplated.

A win against Rotherham, or at least not a defeat, is more important now than ever, but we've given ourselves a lift.

C'mon the City! A win Wed and I will believe we will have the chance to not only avoid relegation, but to end the season comfortably.

I feel the depleted Bristol City rhetoric is being a bit overplayed.
Yes - they have many injuries but even their own fans think the manager is using it as too much of an excuse.
Many of the injury list provided are not regulars for Bristol City and even with a fit Chris Martin you could argue he would not have played instead of Deidhou.

I feel we have played a decent Bristol City side today and arguably we have as many 'real' first team injuries as them.

Let’s be honest, Bristol were truly awful, however that was such a pleasing performance to watch.

In a strange way though it’s tinged with a tad of disappointment, it just goes to show what the squad have been capable of this season, still onwards and upwards.

So many impressive performances today, we really look to have unearthed a bit of gem in Ng though, another solid performance :ayatollah:.

Yes we won but jeez how bad were Bristol?
You can only play what’s in front of you and McCarthy needs to be judged on how we get on v much better teams.

But fantastic to win - it’s been a long time. Well done City :bluescarf: :occasion5:

I don’t get this depleted Bristol, most of their injuries have been out for months, you could say a depleted Cardiff side won the game with ease, consider we got 5 players out injured, could say 6 with how long smithies was in the field, injuries happen for all clubs

Totally agree. Bristol had a very strong team out there today. The only area perhaps they were seriously depleted was left back. They put Mariappa there, who's not a bad player. It was a good win. Our keeper had just one shot to save and we could have scored at least 2 more with some good chances created.
