Swansea are light years ahead of us.

Fri Feb 05, 2021 9:58 pm

Looking at the difference between them and us over the last decade or so and in terms of player recruitment and scouting network they are light years ahead of us.

Even when they sack their managers the next one comes in and they go again. We could learn alot from them.

I think your way is to make sure you have an abnormally long thrower in your team to constantly pepper the box, then to compliment this, buy a 5ft 4 injury prone attacking midfielder from the league below because he's Welsh and regard him as the saviour, whilst getting rid of your 2nd 6ft 2 striker leaving you short up front. What do you expect when you employ a painter on work experience to put on the board

Manager wise the Jack's can certainly pick them ,they put someone in no one has heard of and bang they're on up the table how do they do that so annoying.
This guy looks as if he s in a lemon sucking contest mind but he can get a team moving ,Norwich lost to em last nite and they are a good side.
But we are Cardiff city we don't do things that way ,never have probley never will,Cardiff fans know this and accept it , come on bluebirds do the Wurzels today

If there was an award for the most delusional moron on these forums it would be Pembroke Alan every single time, he talks so much shite, his blinkered blind hatred for Swansea prevents him seeing what everyone else on the planet does, the Swans are so far ahead of Cardiff City you would need a time travelling device to catch them up, get help Alan you absolute melt

Couldn’t agree more with you.

He comments on virtually every thread on the forum and gets found out time & time again.

Judging by their season ticket pricing and fan wallpaper on seat/stands coverings they have a lot more respect for their fans as well.

Who cares. Let’s just end the thread and concentrate on us and us only :bluescarf:

or maybe he is just defending his club against the normal invasion of the unwashed..
he does not need to tbh, the fact so many of you are on here speaks volumes...
we could be relegated twice on the spin while you win champions leagues and we would still be the first thing on your minds..... like being in love with someone you cant have...

Previously Their most deluded fan boasted it will be 30yrs before we catch them it took less than 3....... always easy to be brave when doing well? Besides he obviously doesn't read threads or he would see last night praised them and done so several times recently ! Hes just another of their parasites that infect here when they are doing well but rarer than a dodo when doing badly... :D

Part of what the OP is right, the have a background structure akin to the boot room at Liverpool. It is well regarded in 'footballing circles' in south wales as the best option for any aspiring young kid. someone I know from Cardiff has had his lad accepted into their academy. The Dad is quite high up in football admin activities in south wales. When he looked at the 2 choices. The personnel involved, the success rate etc. Unfortunately there was only one option for him - and it wasnt us.

Look at Cooper - did a bit of work previous to football management but nothing you could say was on a par with championship level. On paper perhaps he was their Trollope.

But it seems their background team kicks in, to help him , knowing full well I guess that when they interviewed him he seemed to know what he was talking about and what he wanted to do in terms of the future.

Dont get me wrong what they do is up to them - as it is with all other teams. But if they keep doing things on a regular basis - like Southampton and Norwich to think of 2 quick examples then all teams need to make a quick note of how they get on. And I guess in terms on bringing players in for nothing and selling them on - they have someone that has an eye for talent or a system to help identify it.

maybe he was wrong ?.... who exactly have they produced from their academy in the last 5 years ? i mean properly produced not players bought in from other clubs as young men on fees like James , cobango and mcburnie ?
the academy itself has either or is in the process of being down graded and as for personnel its like a revolving door down there..on top of that the one academy player to come through for us this year mark harris,is from swansea...and the boy thats being raved about in our under 23s Colwill lives 10 miles from the liberty

Cooper would have been hounded out on here quick time. No time given to young managers I guess.

Beings you asked , and remember playing professional football doesn't begin and end in the PL :

Connor Roberts. 1st team squad
Liam Cullen Just scored two goals v Forest in the FA cup 1st team squad
Brandon Cooper Just returned from a very successful loan period with Newport and in the match day squad
Ollie Cooper again just scored v Forest in the cup and in the 1st team squad
Cabango came from Newport when he was 16 with no fee involved 1st team squad
Dan James was 14 when he arrived at Swansea again no transfer fee
Liam Shepard now playing for Newport
and that list is only for the past 5 years , there's many more who are still making living at a professional level

Revolving door not sure if that counts as a a bad thing , Mark Allen ex Man City & Rangers is our Director of Football , new faces new ideas and who incidentally replaced Nigel Rees who oversaw one of the Academy's most successful period , other than that the Academy personnel have remained consistent for quite a number of years There's plenty of talent in s Wales & beyond its just knowing where to look .

I’ve said it before and will again. They have people in their business who know something about football whereas we have absolutely nobody. It’s a disgrace not least an embarrassment to our city that our football club has fallen so far into mediocrity and in short a shambles.
They take punts on managers. Some failed but when they succeed it’s worth the punt. Martinez, Rogers, Potter and now Cooper. City play it safe and go backwards save a fluke season under Warnock (who should have then been pushed upstairs and a modern manager brought in)
How did they land a local man, a City fan of sorts as their manager? He has contacts in the game, he knows the modern game, he gets the players to play a system and stick to it. They have the best defence on the league yet sold their best defender. They have now one of the best midfielders in the league whilst we landed Williams!
They’ll definitely be top 4-5 and likely to get automatic and if they do whilst it’ll be sickening to see it’ll be deserved reward for a properly run football company.

Totally agree with you.the one thing we have got right though is our stadium at 30000 its a good capacity if a miracle happened and we established ourselves in the premier league.theirs at 20000 is probably too small. I say this as if their capacity was bigger you may people from wherever who just want to watch premier league football.

Agree, I know people who abandoned the Bluebirds to watch Premier League football at the Liberty Stadium only to return when it was our turn...

You beat me to it , that stat re money made from their academy is impressive as well, I would include players they have bought in for peanuts and sold on for a massive amount. I hate to say it - but they are better in this dept than we are - or have ever been)

Us - Joe Ledley, Aaron Ramsey , Jo Jacaobson, Josh McGuiness - anyone else of any note ?
