JONNY WILLIAMS PASSES MEDICAL AT CCFC :bluebird: :bluebird:

WILL BE OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED AS A CARDIFF PLAYER THIS EVENING :thumbright: :bluebird:

It is noted Williams is prone to injuries.

UPDATED:

My understanding so far is that Jonny Williams is undergoing a medical this morning at Cardiff City.

Charlton boss Lee Bowyer has confirmed that Jonny Williams is having a medical at Cardiff City.

Confirming the news, Charlton boss Lee Bowyer said: “He’s only got a little bit left on his contract and this is the right thing for the club. It is a good deal for the club – and Jonny wanted to go there."

Bowyer admits it will be a blow to lose the Welshman, who's made 18 appearances for the Addicks this season, and managed to breath new life into his stuttering career at the League One outfit.

Confirming the news, Bowyer told London News Online: “A couple of days ago it [a deal] started.

“One of the things I’ll really miss is that smile every morning, he is a lovely lad. He has been great around the place and everyone is going to miss him.

“He’s only got a little bit left on his contract and this is the right thing for the club. It is a good deal for the club – and Jonny wanted to go there.

“Jonny is another one who came in dead and buried – he was playing U23s at Palace – but came here, played games and got back into the Wales side. He is another one who moves on and has improved as a player under us. The list is bloody endless – of people doing well and moving on."

Charlton Athletic manager Lee Bowyer has confirmed that Jonny Williams is set to have a medical at Cardiff City.

Williams is expected to have a medical later today ahead of a move believed to be worth around £200,000.

Bowyer admits it will be a blow to lose the Welshman, who's made 18 appearances for the Addicks this season, and managed to breath new life into his stuttering career at the League One outfit.

A fee – reported to be £200,000 – has been agreed for the Wales international, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

Bowyer said: “A couple of days ago it[a deal] started.

“One of the things I’ll really miss is that smile every morning, he is a lovely lad. He has been great around the place and everyone is going to miss him.

“He’s only got a little bit left on his contract and this is the right thing for the club. It is a good deal for the club – and Jonny wanted to go there.

“Everyone loved him at the club. I don’t think a person in the world could meet Jonny and not say he is a lovely fella.”

Very short term signing this. Looks a bit desperate. Not sure he adds any quality to the squad, just depth. He’s never set the championship alight. If he wasn’t Welsh I’d be asking who is he.

Nice to hear that he wants to come here just hope he doesn't read this message board first or he might change his mind

I agree. If Bale was having a medical with us I’m sure there’d be a post stating ‘5 years ago yes but not now’.

Jonny Williams is a lovely player, I have always enjoyed his play in the Wales team, at 27 that is a good age and maybe the best time of his career, I think its a great signing especially at the money quoted. WELL DONE CITY :ayatollah:

My feelings too. I’m asking myself why he’d in league 1.

Can't be as bad as what we have now , our midfield is dreadful.

Joe Allen next please , few more spirited welshies in please .

Change shirts to red, boom success ( ooops sorry )

I agree but he's got a bad track record for injuries, if he can stay fit he'll be good for us, but I'm afraid he's going to play one game then be out for three, hope I'm wrong because he's a pain in the arse to opposition.

Well every time he's played against us at CCS he's been a right pain, so here's hoping he can add some bite to our midfield, god knows we need it.

As a Wales fan, I love Jonny Williams. But as a city fan, I don’t think he’s not good enough for a team that is meant to be pushing for the top six of the championship. Seems to me he’s a cheap option to add some depth to our midfield attacking options and try and get us out of the hole we are in. Based on Bowyers comments, sounds like he’s a top lad and maybe that’s what the dressing room needs at this moment in time to give everyone a lift. He’s not pulling up trees in League 1 and he’s not done much when in the championship. I don’t think he adds quality to the squad.

Chippy mate, weve gone for a cheap option and are not a top six club anymore we are midd table at best.

What do people not get about limited funds available for recruitment? In a Pandemic with clubs struggling to survive. Any potential signing is a bonus during these times who could potentially add value to the squad. :banghead:

We badly need a bit of freshening up in midfield,£200k seems like a good gamble to me.Don’t forget the Euros are at present still going ahead so Jonny got plenty to prove.

Agree. There’s no chance of top six this season but that Must be the ambition next season and thereafter.

If we want to challenge next season, then Williams will be a squad player at best as I don’t think he’s better than what we have (just a different maybe). That’s why I said this is a short term signing.

didnt he have plenty to prove at Charlton....ive watched those cameos playing for Wales too and also his poorer performances for us { Wales } ..im reading descriptions of him on here that seem to be of a completely different player to who we are signing....

BLUEBIRDOCT 1962

Totally agree with you people would say bale 5 years ago not now
Lots of voices on hear when moore was joining i said he would be good for cardiff not just because he' s welsh but because i am and saw a lot of him and new he would be a good fit
If jonny avoids injury he will be a lot better in the middle than what we have now vaulks plays it back more times than forward scores the odd goal in a season
but like i have said elsewhere my mother would probably stick one or two in a season.
