MY VIEW: SAME OLD STORY AS BIG MICKS'S FIRST CCFC HOME GAME

Sat Jan 30, 2021 4:51 pm

MY VIEW / OPINION:

SAME OLD STORY AS BIG MICKS'S FIRST CCFC HOME GAME TODAY & CARDIFF GO ONCE AGAIN BEHIND WITH IN MINS OF THE START OF THE GAME .

City need to sort out conceding early goals as we are then up against it week after week.

Over all City were the better team, but City now need to start winning games.
2pts from City's last 21pts.

Football was a lot better today than previous games :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

The other day, I gave man of the match to sub Josh Murphy, today Harry Wilson as we only started opening Millwall up, once Wilson came on.

Harry Wilson came on in the 2nd-half and what a difference he made :bluebird:

For me there def wont be any play-offs this season for Cardiff City, safety first and mid table at best the way we are playing.

Big Mick made 2 changes, Sean Morrison & Joe Bennett came in.

Bagan and Hoilett (injured) are the ones who made way.

Wilson and Murphy on the bench.

Micks first ever football management was Millwall 1992–1996.

Ex Cardiff City striker Kenneth Zohore started for Millwall.

First=Half:City were the better team, but conceding early goals , is not good enough and thankfully Kenneth Zohore missed a sitter for Millwall, or it would of been 2nil.

Second-Half: Virtually by far the better team and Wilson and Moore worked brilliantly to make it 1-1 :thumbright: :bluebird:

CARDIFF CITY 1 MILLWALL 1 :bluebird:
H-T 0-1

Cardiff City: Alex Smithies, Perry Ng, Curtis Nelson, Sean Morrison, Aden Flint,Joe Bennett
Will Vaulks, Leandro Bacuna, Joe Ralls,Sheyi Ojo,Kieffer Moore

Subs: Dillon Phillips, Joe Bagan, Tom Sang, Marlon Pack, Harry Wilson
Josh Murphy, Rubin Colwill, Mark Harris, Robert Glatzel.

Big Mick put 3 Academy players on the bench Joe Bagan, Tom Sang and Rubin Colwill,

9th min What a terrible start, Sean Morrison gave the ball away, Millwall put the ball in to the box, for Aden Flint to score own goal, deflection   0-1

Cardiff then had all the play for the next 15mins, for Millwall then to have a good shout just over the bar.

Kieffer Moore missed a sitter with his head, over the crossbar.

City were the better team, but conceding early goals , is not good enough and thankfully Kenneth Zohore missed a sitter for Millwall, or it would of been 2nil.

H-T 0-1

Millwall start like they did the first-half and nearly scored, thankfully Smithies saved City, Zohore made Smithies make a great save.

62mins Double change for Cardiff as Wilson and Murphy replaced Ojo and Bacuna.

Cardiff attacked and were again the better side.

71st min Kieffer Moore 10th goal of the season and City deserve it as Wilson ran at Millwall, passed it to Moore and 1-1 :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:

We deserved that and it was a quality finish by Moore :bluebird: :bluebird:

with 7mins left, Glatzel replaced Moore.

Sean Morrison was booked.

Wilson looked good again with his runs and shots :bluebird:

Cardiff finished the stronger team :bluebird:

Up Next a tough game

I'm happy with the draw. Perhaps we deserved the win but overall glad we got the draw after going behind again.

For me We need to treat these games as pre-season ones. We are going through a transition because the guys we have relied on have been dog shit. We should survive with what we have and come the end of the season should know who we don't want. So yes a draw is a good result.

Much improved I thought. A bit more composure needed from Moore and Bennett who both should've scored.

We were the better team throughout, but we need to start creating more chances.

We created more when Wilson and Murphy came on, with Wilson playing better than he has in weeks - which proves that Mick McCarthy has helped Wilson recapture his form, by encouraging him to do more.

Kieffer Moore took his goal well and now has ten goals this season.

It was a game we should have been looking to win but we didn't create enough.

The positive is we have now gone two games without losing after a very long losing streak, but we need to start getting some wins on the board and I believe we will.

Performance wise, we played well without creating too many chances.

These last two games have been a massive improvement and I believe we will continue to get better as the players get used to the new manager and the different systems he wants to play.

Shit selection, totally devoid of any footballing intent.

3 centre halfs all are stoppers
2 full backs pretending to be attacking although NG looked decent but he is not a wing back
3 centre midfielder who all either forgot or never knew how to pass. WTF is Vaulks doing most of the time ?
Ojo looks good in 5 a sides but useless in real game
Moore - Get on the blower to your agent, this is shit

Wilson-   Tell the manager the game is played on a saturday not a 5 a side pitch.

Our best player was Zohore, thiers was Bennett. Both stopped their team doing anything

I'm happy Ian to stop the rot, two draws is better than 2 defeats.

At least we wont go down under Big Mick :bluebird: :bluebird:

Yes played a lot better, but we must stop conceding first and so early.

On the surface this seemed 'more of the same' but I honestly believe there was a big difference in the performance of this team to the one we saw under Harris and the one that started the game against Barnsley

However, what we do lack is a midfield that can provide the right ball at the right time without giving it bad to the opposition to counter-attack

The first (Millwall) goal was a comedy of errors and a speculative cross was turned into the City goal off Flint's backside; a trait of giving weird goals that seems to follow them of late

The equaliser (City) was a goal of class and show what we are capable of, if the players are switched on to it. Great build-up, great pass and great finish by Keiffer Moore

I felt the introduction of Wilson was timely and whilst I felt a little for Bacuna and Ojo, it was probably right to get Murphy on too

From that point, I felt the game was City's to win and were it not for some poor decisions and finishing, we should have gone on to win the game

Mick McCarthy only been here a week but I can see signs he is steadying the ship and moving forward. Two draws may not seem a lot but they were gained against two tough teams to beat and are two draws more than we gained under Harris in seven games

Onward and forward, I say; better times ahead :ayatollah: :bluescarf:

Its another point towards being safe for next season. The concession of goals in the first 10 minutes has killed our season. Do they need to bring in a Sports psychologist maybe? Its ridiculous. We would have won today if we scored first. Other observations from today are NG looks a decent signing, Flint should be shipped out asap, dreadful, dreadful accident prone disaster. Zahore still cant score although Smithies save was top draw.

We were Ned,I agree we deserved a win, but we made it an uphill battle, an early goal, costly.

Football improved today :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Unfortunately players are way behind in footballing terms mainly through way team as been set up and players out of position! 2nd half saw signs of better football but it's going to take time to fix long standing problems , so expect fair few players going end season and mick bringing in better quality players in positions we require not just to make up the numbers as its appears recently...

We missed sitters, more solid I thought. Thought Bacona looked decent driving on in the final third. Wilson needs to start for me.

My side

Moore Glatzel
Wilson
Benn Ralls Bacona NG

Brown Mozza Nelson
Smithies

Thought we were too negative first halfhust hoofing aimlessly up field. No game for a week so maybe Big Mick can work on them a bit more.
Personally don’t feel the 5 at the back is quite working.
Onwards and upwards :bluescarf:

A few takeaways from me...

NG seems a tidy signing.
Bacuna was our best player in the first half and the closest thing we've got to a box to box midfielder.
Wilson has to start in front of Ojo
Hopefully, Brown can come in and replace Flint who was poor.

They are showing glimpses of believing in themselves again but it's early days.

Two unbeaten. Not great, but given the losing run we were on, might just be enough to stop the rot. We're not going to get close to the playoffs but a top ten finish to build upon next season would be a good job by McCarthy and I'd give him a crack at it full time he can get us up around there.

Why on earth is he not picking his best team form the start. If he did its just a possibity we might take the lead in a match.Did support the McCarthy appointment but I I now beginning to think the football is going to be just as dull as under Harris perhaps even more boring. From what I have seen so far once new manager effect has worn off we could be back to square one. Though we should have given him a contract till the end of next season but now not so sure that we shouldn't get someone else in at the end of the season.

17 shots only 3 on target! Shows we are getting into positions to score just need a bit of composure and better decision making and today would seen different score.... still slow build up generally only really quick attack and we score ...

Same as Warnock, too scared to "drop" a big wage centre half.
By playing 3 forces 2 full backs who are really defenders at our club to be wide midfielders or old 442 wingers and they are not.

I see a lot think Bennett played well but for me he created nothing, assisted with nothing and fluffed his lines when he was in the box. He is a solid championship left back but he is not a wing back. Same as NG who i though played well because he has some footballing ability.

Morrison was often the spare man, If i am the opposition i couldn't be more happy. He looks poor part of a 3. How many times are we going to try with this ?

We don't need 3 same CM's. (i think we all know that) Bacuna looked OK, better than when Ralls plays there but that is Harry's position, so Mick has to decide who are the 2 sitters.

433 for me

Probably everything we know, mick now knows.
Crying out for a creative midfield player, wilson has to start and without kieffer we are fecked.

Glatzel, another 5 million wasted by NW.

Am not too sure atm.

Perhaps a couple of wins in the next few games will ease the nerves. If we lose against the Wurzels next time out then lets see how we respond. A bad response and we will be deep in a relegation fight.

I thought that was a step up from where we were just a couple of weeks ago and 2 draws has stopped the rot. MM is still trying to find his best team / formation but he has only been here 7 days so 2 draws in that respect is not bad. All talk of playoffs should end because we have absolutely no chance of that- NON.

We need to get to 50 points, if possible, and then who ever is our next fulltime manager has a massive rebuild job on here but before that can start we need to know which division we will be in. League 1 is very much on the cards.

The owner and board are responsible in my opinion as it was obvious from October that we were not competitive and the manager had run out of the few ideas he had. None of this is down to MM and in fairness he has stopped the rot and I bet he is pulling his hair out at some of the chances we wasted today.

When I blame the owner I get the backlash from the suntanned nose people.

For me we are now suffering for their mismanagement of the cllub over the last decade. Lots of money wasted over transfers and no interest in the academy. Now they have been forced into bringing the academy lads through but what we have is a gamble as far as I can see. What we really need now is the likes of Ledley, Ramsey, Matthews and John version 2's coming through.

I disagree annis apart from the unfortunate own goal millwall were never in the game we actually played football for the 1st time in a very long time . And if this keeps up we will very hard to beat

I liked our shape better today and it has to be said the Milwall press was one of the beast I've seen down here for a while.I think we are trying to play the right was but we're still too ponderous.
