Can I have a little rant? R.E. Sky News - Merthyr

I am sure you will have seen or heard but if not they done a half hour programme shown all accross Britain about Merthyr, it made us out to look a right shit hole, like its really not that bad, we are imrpoving so much its unreal, we got loads of new tourist spots such as Vue cinema, many fine restaurants, brand new state of the art leisure centre all in that one spot in Rhydycar, we are a town full of history and now people will just think "Merthyr Tydfil, horrible place, SKY told us". As a negative programe they obviously only concentrated on the council estates but even they are not as bad as they used to be, just tell me why did the pick Merthyr there are worse places around, no offence too anyone but some places in Cardiff are much worse, really annoys me, boycott sky news!!

bugger off chippy, we have pride in our town and for a stuck up reporter to come and generate an opinion based on one day is just ridiculas, everywhere has it bad bits, christ, I could go do a piece on some countryside village and make it look bad.

tbh its not a bad place, made some good mates up there the last few years

Merthyr has consistently had some of the UK's highest rates of people on invalidity/disability/unemployment benefits for many years. Unfortunately, until it loses this sad statistic it will always be painted in a negative light by the lazy media.

There are some nice parts Fishy but you cant escape from the lazy scroungers that stay on benefits all there lives then there kids do the same. To be fair this happens everywhere but in Merthyr its the worst in the Country.
