NEW YEARS EVE PARTY, ANYONE?

Wed Dec 30, 2020 12:46 pm

Just curious; will any of you be honest enough to admit whether you intend to hold or attend a New Years Eve party with other households on Thursday night.
Let's be honest, with the number of sceptics who regularly post on this site doubting the severity of coronavirus and the statistics of people badly effected; some of you have no fear of catching the virus and will be partying.
Any takers?

Firstly, be open and honest and say what are YOU going to do on New Year's Eve...?

Secondly, why would you suppose people saying "Let's party" would share such information with honesty?

Same as my friend bluebirdoct1962 (above) for me; pre-ordered takeaway and a night in the house with Jools Hogmanay and (hopefully) some TV fireworks on what is a night in which I haven't partaken since the hugely disappointing (and expensive) Millennium night

Not unless you want to catch the virus and be called an idiot in the meantime. I personally think whoever organises a Covid feast party then they are both deluded and they are the ones causing the Uk to struggle in this pandemic.

Absolutely no chance. Haven't done New Year since I was a teenager. A couple of glasses of wine, a movie and reflect on the year just gone and try to find some hope for the next one still to come. Might get a Chinese too!

Always like an early night on New Year's Eve.

Never anything decent on the telly - usually programmes on "The Most Ridiculous Celebrity Moments of the Year" or the achingly pretentious Jools Holland with his show of achingly pretentious right on universally shit bands.

Hopefully this year I won't be woken by World War 3 breaking out at midnight as people let off fireworks on and off for the next couple of hours.

Are they actually selling fireworks in supermarkets at the moment? Hopefully they fall into the "non essential" category.

Too old to celebrate a change in the calendar. If any of my neighbours are having a party I'll do the responsible thing and report it.

Yes, there's a huge party planned for anyone who's questioned any of this mess over the last 9 months...

Attendance is mandatory, dress code states please wear your tin foil hat, Boris Johnson pin badge and have YouTube open on your non 5G phone. No masks.

It’s a night in with a nice cheeseboard and Spanish tapas for me, Jools Holland, and a glass or three of a very nice malt Scotch Whisky at midnight.

So, in reply to my original question, above, posted around this time yesterday, two people who responded have admitted they will be ignoring the guidance. I fear that most others who will also ignore the guidance will not have the guts to admit it as someone else suggested.
I just hope the vast majority of you stay safe and those who choose to ignore the guidance don't live to regret it.
If you don't believe what the Government tells us, at least listen to the NHS staff and hospital workers! They have no reason to lie.
Personally, I have only visited my fathers home, since last March and that is because I am his carer. So it's just me and the better half sharing a nice bottle or two of wine this evening.
Happy New Year everyone.

100% I will be spending it with my mother and nobody else - I am her carer. My partner is in Poland and my boys are all 18+ and have been sticking rigidly since March to the regulations as their mother is a GP so they can't take any risks. I will have a Chinese and a few glasses of wine, watch a movie and speak on skype to my partner. Its not how I would have planned it - I was supposed to have flown out on Monday just gone. So, I will make do with what is possible, enjoy it as best I can, and hope the vaccine won't take too long. Finally, my friend is a supervisor for ambulance control and there is no question things are bad out there - stay safe everyone and Happy New Year :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:

So you are saying most of us are not telling the truth then?? Personally I usually spend new year with family/friends,and usually at a party(house) but no one I know is going anywhere because of the risks, both to health and pocket(if decided to risk having or attending a parry/gathering!).

Covid lockdown: South Wales Police deals with 240 New Year's Eve calls

There were 240 reports of Covid-19 rule breaches made to South Wales Police on New Year's Eve.

The force says it handed out 43 fixed penalty notices to some of those involved - in total, there were 430 issued in December.

Officers have also been turning away people who had travelled to Wales from Southampton, Kent and Solihull on New Year's Day.

Last week police had to turn back people travelling to Wales from London.

I always bought a tour t-shirt. Nicely boxed up they all are...unfortunately a little too snug nowadays
