MY VIEW: AN AWFUL PERFORMANCE BY CARDIFF TONIGHT / BUT

Tue Dec 08, 2020 9:37 pm

MY VIEW / OPINION:

AN AWFUL PERFORMANCE BY CARDIFF TONIGHT v A VERY WEAKENED STOKE SIDE / BUT CARDIFF SOMEHOW GRABBED ALL 3PTS
& WON THEIR 4TH CONSECUTIVE GAME :bluebird: :bluebird:

3pts are 3pts and Harris is climbing the table and getting near to the play-0ff :bluebird: :bluebird:

Harry Wilson a sorry as went off injured.

First-half: Stoke deserved their lead, even though it was an own goal by Morrison, Cardiff were made by Stoke to play their way the long ball. City looked poor over all, but Stoke who fielded a very weak team looked a poor team as well.

2nd-half: Cardiff were all over the place, Thankfully a penalty saved by Smithies and Stoke hit the bar. Then against the run of play Glatzel(sub) scored a great goal, then Morrison headed in. :bluebird:

Smithies saves and two good goals by Cardiff saved the night :bluebird:

Cardiff once again for the 4th consecutive match were able to field unchanged team :bluebird:

Cardiff were on a 3 match winning run and were facing a Stoke City side with up to 10 players out injured and having to include many youngsters in their squad.

Meanwhile, more injuries as Stoke had to
Make more changes, Stoke manager :“With Danny Batth, Sam Clucas. Steven Fletcher and John Obi Mikel and Jordan Thompson and Joe Allen we’re nearly in double figures for players that are absent.”
Stoke were down to their bare bones from their squad.

THE LAST TIME CARDIFF WON 4 IN A ROW, CARDIFF WERE PROMOTED UNDER NEIL WARNOCK :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

STOKE CITY 1 CARDIFF CITY 2 :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:
H-T 1-0

It was even stevens for 20mins with Cardiff starting more lively.

25th min GOAL! Stoke City 1-0 Cardiff City (Morrison og)

Campbell had looked very lively so far. He managed to dart to the byline and pulled it back.

It bounced off the leg of Morrison, who's completely on his own inside the six-yard box and goes in.

For 30mins there had been no shots on target.

Stokes Campbell had been a menace to the Cardiff defence.

Cardiff had not really offered much in a way of a response. Mark Harris was putting the yards in up front, but he's had precious little to feed on. Likewise Moore.

Campbell was ripping poor Joe Bennett to shreds.

H-T 1-0

Let off. McClean whipped in a corner and it' was met by Chester, who rattled his header against the bar.

Harry Wilson went down injured and was limping quite badly.

55th min Campbell main threat, went off injured , Sam Vokes on.

WOW: Morrison gives away a penalty and thankfully Smithies saved it :bluebird: :bluebird:

Wilson went off injured replaced by Glatzel.

Then against the run of play,GOAL! Stoke City 1-1 Cardiff City (Glatzel) :bluebird: :bluebird:

A lovely deep cross from Ralls on the right found Glatzel at the far post. He chests down and sidefoots home. :bluebird: :bluebird:

Then Morrison who had been having a nightmare game , rose up to head a corner from Ralls, 1-2 to Cardiff :bluebird: :bluebird:

Ralls and Harris came off for pack & Whyte

Sol Bamba came on for Moore

ROLL ON THE JACKS TJIS SATURDAY :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Amazed that we have won that game.

We were dreadful for most of it, and really didn't deserve to win.

But four consecutive wins now, and a massive game on Saturday - when we must play better than we did tonight.

Good win but practically nothing else to take out of that game.

We were inspired after the missed penalty, Glatzel substitution changed the game.

2 shots on target tonight-- 2 goals
8 shots on target in our last 3- 6 goals.

Mr Harris your the luckiest manager in this division, kick and run Predictable drivel. You did nothing to effect the game, we had more continuity in the second half because we didn’t have many throw ins to give the opposition the ball back - look at the stats !!! the long ball throw in yields nothing. If I was Harry Wilson i would be faking a long lay off he must be gutted with the season so far.

Sometimes you just gotta win ugly. 3 weeks ago we'd have lost that.

When Harris brought glatzel on I can’t repeat my language. Can In hand I was screaming at my telly! Thankfully I couldn’t have been more wrong, fantastic from the boys tonight, Stoke away is a nightmare and we were a goal down but somehow we managed to win. Congrats to glatzel who deserves it and mozza who had a shocker but came up good! Come on you bluebirds!!!

To be fair. Did any expect anything other than a scrappy Cardiff V Stoke game

Very tired poor performance but I always felt we could get a point or more. Glatzel was the difference. He looked a handful when he came on and took his goal clinically. He deserves a lot of credit as some fans have been happy to write him off. He can make a difference this season.

Nothing to effect the game.

The sub he made scored not long after coming on.

I can’t believe people are moaning about the performance when we’ve just got 3 points at Stoke on a wet Tuesday night !!

4 wins in 4. One goal conceded. 3 very good performances and another where we grind out a win after being behind !!

We had many games like this in Warnock’s promotion year. I was calling for Harris’s head 4 games ago but credit where it’s due, two home games won in style and then follow that up with two away wins against teams like Stoke and Watford is not to be sneezed at.

If Stoke had won tonight they would have gone top, they are no mugs, with or without injuries.

Anyone can win when you play well, but good teams win when they play badly. We are obviously better than we think, and once we got ahead we didn’t give Stoke a chance

Annis, that headline is absolute bullshit......we did OK, Stoke were worse....they employed NW tactics when they went 1 up, and even when they were 2-1 down they showed nothing.

This game was always going to be a war of attrition, it's Stoke ffs......

We went there, did a job and walked away with 3 points.......nothing could be better. :bluebird:

One get out of jail card played this evening, absolutely awful for first hour, bullied by Stoke.
Then on comes Glatzel and we go for it.
Great to see such resilience, the performance will soon be forgotten but the result wont :-)

Christ we got a couple of muppets on here.In what was a dire first half Stoke got a lead with the only player they had with the pace to hurt us.We didn't get the better of the head tennis for the first time this season I thought and both sides looked lethargic and the goal apart Stoke were just as bad as us.The penalty miss was the turning point I felt and Harris got it dead right with his substitutions and after we got our noses in front Stoke looked clueless for me.We won ugly tonight which is typical of a side thats developing a winning habit even though they were under par.Sides like this get promoted but I hope Wilson is fit for saturday.

Some people are not happy unless they are moaning about something. Not the best performance but a sign of a good team is to grind out wins when not particularly playing well.

We weren't awful. In the first half we barely put a foot wrong, the goal conceded was really unfortunate. The game itself wasn't great at that point mind.

After their penalty, which I thought was very harsh, the momentum shifted towards us and we finished really strong. Glatzel came on and put another great shift in, and took his goal really well - great first touch and finish. I was impressed again by Harris too, he makes some great runs in behind which is really refreshing to see.

According to the old saying, going to Stoke on a Tuesday night is a test of quality and character, which we passed. Two great away wins back to back, roll on Sunday!

No shots until 70 minutes when Stoke tired says everything

Having the ability to win matches in that fashion is what is required in order to get out of this division :bluescarf:

We won about 20 games like this under Malky.
