Xmas cancelled?

Mon Oct 19, 2020 12:34 pm

Will xmas be cancelled this year? Drakeford just announced 2wk lockdown but likely to be longer! Social distancing will certainly be still here so how do you have works night out? Does anyone fancy standing outside for god knows how long in the snow and rain to go shopping as to many people in shop, so best thing to do is get in the beer and mince pies early sit back and watch repeats on tv as nothing else to do... :occasion5:

I notice you use the words snow, rain, mince pies.beer, night out.You use the Lord's name in vain.
Christmas is about celebrating the birth of the Jesus,
So christmas can't be cancelled.

I think you are a little wide of the mark! He was most insistent about a "fixed" two week period and when pressed stated it would not be any longer than stated :old:

I don't think it was a political thread, he was just saying you cannot cancel people's birthday because of covid. Especially someone as important as Jesus, whose birthday we all celebrate, and enjoy.

They go on works night out ect ... kids wont be able to go to grannies to show off toys the list of cancelled events vould be endless .... so like say cant cancel the day but just everything else..

Zero chance it will be longer than two weeeks. People won’t listen anyway. Top scientists say lockdowns aren’t the answer.
A waste of time but people will go along with it for now.

Its actually 17 days, not two weeks.and whats to stop them extending it? Which given the way its been handled to date, thats a more than likely scenario!!

Re: Xmas cancelled?

Yes but don't forget, after the 17 days, most areas will still be under the same restrictions as they are today. I don't see these being lifted anytime soon.

Sorry but let's be honest it will not snow this year for anyone in south wales. I know im missing the point but still it will never snow again for where i am anyway. In terms of cancelled xmas i doubt this highly because people like myself living in Wales will get ahead in terms of killing off the momentum of the virus when England will be late to the lockdown party themselves.

Will we get ahead? experts are either questioning validity of lockdowns in reducing covid or other experts are questioning that 17days is not enough time to slow covid down? The expert that is drakeford doesnt agree with anyone unless they have same opinion/ideas as him. :old:

Sam, Wales is not a separate country like New Zealand for instance in the middle of nowhere. It is a connected to big bad England for over 160 miles with many roads and bridges. It has ferry ports to Ireland and a semi international airport. Many people have relatives living in England or in University who'll return for Christmas. So all the sacrifices little ole poor Wales has made will be in vain. That unless you consider ripping out any private enterprise or god forbid sin areas like Pubs is worth it to return Wales back to its slate mining, god fearing 1800's past.

We were a few weeks behind London in the first wave, to think you can get ahead of it and bunker down is mental. Let him be truthful here. The Welsh NHS is a shambles, miles behind big bad England (usually moan about funding, not how they spend our money) it can't cope with normal winters, forget Covid.

We have a lower, some would say due to Magic Marks safer policies, infection rate than England especially Manchester who are fighting tooth and nail not to go into lockdown, but "victimhood" Drakeford can't wait to impose harsh restrictions.....

Ask yourself why, then ask why again and keep repeating until you get to the real reason is WAG have wrecked the Welsh NHS, so all sacrifices are needed to save the whole future of the Wales Government project. Because I think it will be in real danger in next Mays elections.

As if anyone would let whatever he says spoil their Christmas, it would be completely impossible to stop people visiting their friends and relatives. It will come down to individuals to decide what is more important, and it's pretty much that way now, some will obey the rules some won't.

Boris will want a headline " Boris saves Christmas", so no doubt in England the restrictions will be lifted for a week or two.

Quite possibly he will do that but already got scots and WG indicating that could have another lockdown after xmas for new year? so obviously they'd like to stop people going to pubs or any other kind of event to celebrate new year ...
My original reason for thread was to indicate that we will not be having xmas and nothing politicians are saying indicates we will he celebrating it other than in own house with the cat and dogs and not family.. :o

The main part of Christmas is family time together, and toys and presents for the kids, that will continue no matter what. You are right they may well try and stop the spread by shutting pubs. At the moment most pubs are employing some little jumped up Hitler to make the places as inhospitable as possible anyway, so I'm not bothered until things get back to normal anyway.

Yes it's for family but that means whole family not those living in one house while others live elsewhere? Your right about pubs ect I have no intention of visiting a place with screens around you and people with masks ect serving you....we go out to enjoy the occasion not to sit in silent sterile box 6ft away from anyone

The blame lies with the people. Because a lot of us think we know better and ignore the rules.

I hope these earth is flat people dont kill your parents or grand parents.

Selfish, materialistic world we live in . Track and trace is shite, yes, but if idiots stopped giving false names and mail addresses then we could get a handle on things better .

Look in the mirror people.
