MY VIEW: CARDIFF CITY’S BOGEY TEAM / AS NEIL HARRIS

Sat Jun 27, 2020 1:26 pm

MY VIEW / OPINION:

CITY’S BOGEY TEAM BEATEN BY NEIL HARRIS AFTER SOME GREAT SUBSTITUTIONS & A SECOND=HALF WHERE CARDIFF LOOKED LIKE A TEAM ON THE WAY UP.

This was a brilliant away win for City :bluebird: :bluebird:

CARDIFF NOW IN TOP 6 & IN THE PLAY -OFFS :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:

2nd Half:
Cardiff had soaked up the pressure and bang Joe Ralls made it 1nil Cardiff :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:
Dion Sanderson whipped in an inviting cross to the far post and Joe Ralls attacked it superbly to head home past Rudd. :bluebird: :bluebird:
Then 73rd min, Sloppy defending by City 1-1

Then Mendez-Laing great strike 82nd min 1-2 City :bluebird: :bluebird:

Glatzel scores a goal in injury time his 2nd in 2 games :bluebird: :bluebird:

Sean Morrison Solid in defence :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Preston had conceded only one goal in their last six home league games against Cardiff (W4 D1 L1), keeping a clean sheet in their last three since a 1-0 defeat in April 2011.

Cardiff City named an unchanged side for this afternoon's match.

PRESTON 1 CARDIFF C 3 :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:
H/T 0-0
Cardiff City(4-5-1): Smithies; Sanderson, Morrison, Nelson, Bennett; Adomah, Vaulks, Bacuna, Ralls, Hoilett; Paterson.

Subs: Etheridge, Flint, Smith, Pack, Whyte, Tomlin, Mendez-Laing, Ward, Glatzel

The first 15 mins Cardiff were very sloppy and Preston were winning all the balls.

Cardiff came in to the game, more and more, but Preston were able to contain them with ease, with Cardiff wasting a couple of good chances.

Cardiff had to defend well for the rest of the first-half, with Joe Bennett, playing well.

City finished the last couple of minutes the team on the attack :bluebird:

H/T 0-0 :bluebird:

Cardiff were under pressure in the early stages,Sinclair hit one from 25 yards and it was heading towards the bottom corner, but Smithies tipped it round the post smartly.

65th min Cardiff subs...

Mendez-Laing and Glatzel came on.

Adomah and Paterson went off.

69th min
Cardiff had soaked up the pressure and bang Joe Ralls made it 1nil Cardiff :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Dion Sanderson whipped in an inviting cross to the far post and Joe Ralls attacked it superbly to head home past Rudd. :bluebird: :bluebird:

With in 4mins
Then 73rd min, Sloppy defending by City 1-1  Johnson

Lee Tomlin came on for Joe Ralls for Cardiff City.

82nd min
A magical touch from Lee Tomlin laid it off toMendez-Laing, who drove past Bauer and into the penalty area, where he looked up and slotted calmly past Rudd to regain the lead! 1-2 :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Smithies then made some good saves :bluebird: :bluebird:

Glatzel scored to finish Preston off 1-3 :bluebird: :bluebird:

Massive result, especially when you consider our terrible record against Preston.

Fantastic second half performance, excellent substitutes. Second week in a row that Neil Harris has got it spot on.

We're in the top six now.

Fantastic result.

More good news is that Swansea lost and Millwall are dropping points as it stands.

BBC

Cardiff waltz their way to victory and despite Daniel Johnson's leveller, the Bluebirds looked assured in their second half performance as they nab sixth place from their opponents.

A huge three points and victory in the race for the play-offs.

Great win, Preston missed two sitters at the end so key to keep defensive focus for 90min.

We are competitive and workmanlike for an hour then we are bringing on better quality players who can influence and change a game. NML, Glatzel and Tomlin. It's working so far long may it continue.

Glatzel is now starting to look like the striker we hoped for. Seems to be coping better with the physicality of the game and is clearly a better finisher than Paterson. Excellent win.5 more wins and I think we'll make it.

We were due to go on a bit of a run and we look sharper after the lockdown break. Maybe this is the purple patch we've been waiting for.

Our team is solid and our bench is awesome! If Mendes Laing, Tomlin and Glatzel stay injury free I can see us not only reaching the playoffs but winning them. Feeling very optimistic at the moment.

I thought Bacuna had another great game. We soaked up the pressure and then dealt the hammer blow yet again with our super subs. So good to see Mendez full of confidence and raring to go. Tomlin you wizard. C'mon City!

Best performance of season for me, too. Have always argued Bluebirds will be biggest beneficiaries of the enforced break, Tomlin & Mendez two of the reasons. Squad depth key in these 9 games. Big advantage. Play-offs really are on :bluebird:

It was always going to be the case that one or two teams would react much better to the break than others and it would seem that it's us and Brentford in this division. Looking at our rivals Derby seem to be on the best form but they have a horrendous series of fixtures coming up including Leeds WBA Brentford Cardiff and their next game is away to Preston then they have to play Forest.

The only team I would not fancy playing over two legs in the playoffs is Brentford who are playing really well at the moment. Hope we can overtake Forest and avoid playing them in till the final if we both get there.
