Cummings what a tosser!

Tue May 26, 2020 1:42 pm

Been out for a walk today, ( social distancing) and what did I see, before cummings pack of lies last night, at a guess, 90% of people were social distancing, today I would guess that 90% of people are not, and think it is all over and they do not have to social distance, no matter what Boris said in yesterdays briefing, the damage has now been done so expect a spike in covid 19 infections and deaths, I do despair sack the tosser now, and Boris should go as well, lying toerags. This is not political I voted tory in last years election, but if there was another election tomorrow then I would not vote for them again :banghead:

Social distancing has been going down the pan for weeks. Nothing whatsoever to do with Cummings. You'll get a chance to vote Boris out in Dec 2024.

I am surprised none of the media ask Mr Cummings - Did his partner enjoy her day at the castle .

The same day which was her birthday ;)

I'm surprised none of the media asked Stephen Kinnock what essential items he spent 6 hours driving from South Wales to London and back. The same day which was his dads birthday.

Then again, I'm not

He should be gone as well - can't have 1 rule for 1 and not 1 for the other .
Does not matter what some party people follow both have done wrong - That's why i don't vote ;)

I agree its much worse where I am and I've no doubt in London although I haven't been in for a week or so. Part of that's inevitable as we rightly or wrongly return to some sort of normality. It hasn't however got significantly worse over the last weekend. Social distancing is key though but I'm sure we all know that by now.

He's not my type, in fact I don't even like the geezer. However this isn't about Dominic Cummings. Its about concerted effort by the mainstream media to overthrow December's election result and undermining the Government at a time of national emergency. Fortunately they wont succeed but if we currently had a government a little secure, they'd be happy hounding them out. If you think last years Brexit fiasco damaged democracy then that would 100 times worse.

The big problem might come next winter. We could see a second wave of the virus if COVID-19 mimics seasonal flu and returns in a mutated form.

Anyone instructed to 'stay at home' will flee places like London for places like Cornwall, North Wales, the Lake District (Durham) etc. which have the perception of being more safe. The general public will simply ignore the advice on the grounds of Dominic did it or will get around the guidelines by inventing an exceptional circumstance which justifies that real agenda.

I dont think Cummings was accused of not adhering to social distancing was he ? , I thought it was that he should have stayed at his home in London rather than drive to wherever his parents lived so his family could stay in a separate house in the same 'estate'.

Listening to the radio earlier - it was interesting that when the the radio show asked each caller what would you do if , your partner show symptoms of coruna and it was therefor likely you would get it - maybe get it badly - and you had a child with special needs etc - would you drive up to your mum and dads spare house. Most callers begrudgingly said they would do the same.

If Cummings does go - then Vaughan Gething needs to go - he definitely broke his own rules on sitting down in a public space and eating. Ive seen people get warnings off the Police for doing similar over in Bute Park.

Former Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt says Dominic Cummings broke the rules

Former Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt has said he believes that Dominic Cummings broke lockdown rules on multiple occasions, but added that he was not calling for the Prime Minister's adviser to resign.

In a letter sent to constituents, Mr Hunt wrote: "Having watched the broadcast yesterday, my own view is that what he did was a clear breach of the lockdown rules - coming back into work when he had been with his wife who was ill, driving to Durham instead of staying at home and visiting Barnard Castle.

"These were clearly mistakes - both in terms of the guidance which was crystal clear, and in terms of the signal it would potentially give out to others as someone who was at the centre of government."

"But as someone who has been at the centre of media storms with a young family I know you do make mistakes in these situations. I have made them myself. So I am afraid I am not going to add my voice to the list of those calling for him to resign.”

there is far more chance of people ignoring advice on the grounds of its allowed in England tbh./.
its not like all this vitriol towards Cummings is coming from people that liked him or respected him any more a week ago than they do now..

Spot on moonboots - Gething went out for a walk ( daily exercise ) with his family and his son was hungry while on that walk and - " He did what most parents would do " ;) Stopped to get him a bag of chips - Nice Touch
So he was pictured eating them on a bench - it's not like he packed a picnic box and went for a day out !!
Unlike the other 2 Lab MP's who are in the wrong for what they did along with Cummings .
Also it was not Vaughan Gething's son Birthday that day - Unlike Mr Cummings partner who it was on April 12th ;)

Dominic Cummings's coronavirus 'prediction' claim undermined after it emerges blog post was secretly edited
Cummings said he wrote about the coronavirus threat last year, but online clues suggest the reference was added to his blog on April 14 2020, reports Bill Gardner.

Dominic Cummings replied indignantly when reporters suggested he had shown a cavalier attitude toward Covid-19 and lockdown.

"For years, I have warned of the dangers of pandemics," he insisted, during his appearance in Downing Street’s rose garden.

"Last year I wrote about the possible threat of coronaviruses and the urgent need for planning.”

However Mr Cummings’ claim to have predicted the pandemic was not strictly true, Downing Street admitted on Tuesday night.

In fact, a post on Mr Cummings’ personal blog was secretly edited by him last month to add a reference to coronaviruses, sources confirmed.

MPs immediately accused Mr Cummings of misleading the nation by falsely making it appear that he had long warned about coronaviruses, and had always taken Covid-19 seriously.

To overthrow the election result, come on that’s ridiculous. I get they don’t like him and it’s personal but I don’t believe or see any evidence where they trying to overthrow the election result. My opinion labour lost it. And any Tory leader would have had the same majority.

I’d be very surprised if he lasts 5 years. I think the country in general dealt well with coronavirus. Definitely could have done better but that’s easy to say for me with hindsight.

When I checked Welsh lockdown rules said "having a picnic while out or "spending a prolonged period on a park bench" were unacceptable"

The guidance was later changed when the WAG discovered the story was going to be run in the papers.

Drakeford was asked "
"You changed the guidance on Monday, and many people will think that that might be because of the fact that the health Minister was photographed sitting on the park bench having a picnic with his family over the weekend. Now, it looks to the public that it's one rule for the health Minister and another rule for them. So, don't you agree with me that Vaughan Gething has had his chips? And when are you going to remove him from the park bench and put him on the subs bench, where he belongs?"

Drakeford replied :-
"Mr Drakeford responded saying he was "not going to be drawn into that sort of distasteful personal attack on anybody."

He said the change in guidance had "nothing to do" with the incident.

"A brief stop to allow a child to eat is not a picnic in anybody's language, and just for his information, before he tries to spread the sort of slur that he tried in his question, the decisions that the Welsh Government made on the measures that we were going to change were made on Thursday of last week.

"They were made in a Cabinet meeting that was properly and officially minuted; it had nothing to do with any incident that he is referring to and he should stop trying to imply that it did."

But doesn't Cummings proclaim to have had exactly that? (Hindsight ) didn't he say he had been warning of a coronavirus type pandemic, over a year ago?? If that is true, then this government hasn't handled the situation well! They must have ignored his warnings of being ready for one, thus leaving us playing catch up,from day one.if only they had listened eh,perhaps we would have had less old people left to die.I do however agree with your point of no evidence of trying to overthrow the government, to me any high profile councillors or mp caught breaking guidelines should lose their position, as they are after all,the people supposedly in charge, and LEADING this country should be doing exactly that LEADING.don't have any affiliation to any party, and these episodes remind me why,one law for them, another law for us. :old: :bluebird:

Durham Police have started their investigation into Dominic Cummings’ alleged breach of lockdown rules as it emerged that the key advisor’s wife Mary can also drive, raising questions about Mr Cummings’ account that he drove 60 miles from Durham to Barnard Castle on Easter Sunday to “test his eyesight”.

Boris Johnson will face a 90-minute grilling today by the toughest committee in Parliament over his handling of the coronavirus crisis and the alleged lockdown breaches by Dominic Cummings.

Lockdown-breakers using Cummings as an excuse, police say

UK police say that people breaking lockdown rules are using the actions of the prime minister's adviser Dominic Cummings - whose 260-mile trip sparked controversy - as an excuse.

West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner David Jamieson told BBC Radio 4's The World At One that the public are telling officers, "if it is okay for Cummings, it is okay for us", and "it looks like there is one rule for us and another rule for the people in No 10 Downing Street".

He said if the rules are interpreted as flexible by people at the heart of government, "then it is almost impossible for police officers to be able to carry out their job effectively".

Police were getting "quite a pushback" from all generations, he said.

"Now that is a bad sign, showing that confidence in the rules, confidence in government and thereby the police's ability to enforce it, has been undermined very much in the last few days," he said.
