“ CARDIFF CITY BIG SQUAD CLEAR OUT “

Tue Feb 25, 2020 10:40 pm

Cardiff City 0 Nottingham Forest 1

I flew back this morning for tonight’s game :bluebird:

“ CARDIFF CITY BIG SQUAD CLEAR OUT FOR ME “

Performance was better then the Stoke game, but as usual we do not create enough chances.

Forest deserved their win and should of won by more.

I am not a NEIL HARRIS fan but we have to support him as he us going No where.
Very disappointed in his January transfers and over all of the football he has produced.
It looks like the season is virtually over.

It needs a big clear out, a total over all of the squad if NEIL HARRIS is going to implement his own ideas.

For me at least 10 players must go from this squad and of course be replaced.

This squad are letting themselves down and the club / fans.

I am Still very undecided by Neil Harris but he is here for next season no matter what. so we must all give him our support :thumbright: :bluebird:

Plus you can’t rely on one player Lee Tomlin, we should still be able to create chances and we are once again not.

My big worry is their is no real money for going to be made available for next season?

Fair assessment Annis.
We were better tonight but lacked a cutting edge.
Pleased with a Glatzel - possibly his bet game yet - who played with a big striker alongside him.
Sanderson looks promising and I’d now like to see Smith in for Bennett on a Saturday. We might as well.
I’d like to see a few moved on in the summer but unfortunately players can sometimes be happy picking up wages when they’re not in the team.

I'd keep Tomlin.

Apart from him I wouldn't be upset if any other player in our squad left in the summer.

Agree with this I too didn't want Harris but he needs a.fair crack and a proper transfer window. I feel the team and playing a little more but some of them.just don't have the quality to adapt....huge clear out needed, connolly, jazz, flint, bamba, hoilett, I could be forever......

I agree. Delivery from Murphy and Hoillet was atrocious. No side stands a chance when opportunities to put ball into dangerous areas squandered like those two did tonight.

NH deserves a chance to get through the summer transfer window, where hopefully he can move a few players on and bring some of his own in. If we’re not doing anything leading up to Xmas, then perhaps we will need to get rid of him then.

I noticed 4 different formations tonight, a squad cannot play that many formations in one match, start with one and change to a 2nd with subs if the 1st isn’t working but 4 is ridiculous. The players are no longer singing off the same hymn sheet. The spat between Bacuna and Patto is testament enough to that, will be interesting if anything is said about it or anything else comes from it.

I agree with most of replies on this. I think we have maybe 3 or 4 players who I would be upset to see go. Too many players not showing any intensity or fight.

Re: “ CARDIFF CITY BIG SQUAD CLEAR OUT “

Completely agree

75% if bottom half of the league

Ar the start of the season my prediction based on the team was mid table I think harris has got us just above that

It’s a results game ....We have lost 2 on the bounce and the football has been poor to watch

If the results and performances dont improve, When the season tickets go on sale I suspect a big drop

I wouldn’t guarantee Harris will be here next season

I'd love to think Flint and Pack will not be here next season but they will be as they will be on contracts they are not going to get elsewhere and we won't get anything for them.

And how are they going to get rid of these players who are under contract eh?

Only by buying up their contracts like Madine or hoping some other clubs will buy them, and at what price?

Re: “ CARDIFF CITY BIG SQUAD CLEAR OUT “

I was completely underwhelmed with this squad before the season even started, and have said from day one that I thought we were just about capable of a top ten finish, but that would be as good as it would get. Listening to what Tan has said during recent times suggests there will not be much money available this Summer. I think without a major rebuilding programme, next season may be an even bigger struggle, I have never doubted where we will be playing next season, was always going to be the Championship. My worry is without some big changes at the club, we could get drawn into a relegation battle by this time next year.

I cant really think of players you could say happy picking up wages when not in the team about other than maybe Jazz and Tomlin pre jane plan.. we have a couple of long term injuries but mostly they have all been involved..

I said ‘could be’.
It’s not as simple as just saying ‘get rid of them to free wages’ as some are saying. . If they have a contract - and maybe one they won’t get elsewhere - my guess is they’d stay and pick up their wage even if they aren’t in the managers plans.

Re: “ CARDIFF CITY BIG SQUAD CLEAR OUT “

I was amazed how poor we were and how we continually made the wrong decisions in the final 3rd. In the first ten minutes Paterson free on the wing and no one near him, and he crosses right into the goalie's hand. Hoillett continuing to cross to the Forest defenders instead of our players. Murphy falling over and not getting up quick enough, and running into a Forest player which lead to the goal. We lost due to poor play. Surely in training they can concentrate in crosses and passing to each other, until they get it right. The players seem to have the mentality of hit and hope instead of finding the players. Also decision making in the final 3rd is poor. We were passing when the best option was to shot and vice visa. I do wonder what they do in training and the coaching they are getting.

Went last night and it was awful passing was shocking can’t string half a dozen passes together crossing and shooting belonged to Sunday league. I was feeling rough as well in two minds whether to go but thought I should seriously considering not going Saturday. Brentford home probably another loss if they play like that. Think it’s time to go to 442. Not essential to play with wingers, big clear out needed at least 10. Unfortunately if we want creative players gonna have to pay the wages.

This is how I see it.

Thing is a clear out is not that easy to achieve. Even if we achieve anything close ot it I doubt we will have much money to spend if anything still. The vibes coming from the board are we need to cut back. That doesn't instal confidence we are going to have a good squad next season.

Hopefuly we will have enough to stay in the Championship, mid table I feel will be the best we can expect.

Some sense there.
It is also indicative of how average the league is when a team as poor as ours is in the top 10.
Forest were average and are 3rd.

If you dont invest each and every season, you go backwards, i only see Tan intervening if we look like going down as with Trollope.
Whatever he thinks we are worth, it will be a damn site less in the 2nd division.

For me a new manager has to be the priority, I think the core of the squad is capable though but it does need some tweaking and a bit more dead wood removed.

Hopefully we can start to use the loan market a bit better as well istead of chucking money around for players we dont really need like last summer.

We can try to get rid but in reality you are correct other clubs are not going to take on our dead wood and pay a fortune in wages to do so.

That's why a real football coach works with players to improve them and find a way of getting the best out of them. NH has to earn his corn on the training field rather than playing fantasy football manager and dream of signing a whole new squad.
