The latest Cardiff City transfer updates as a key player is eyed by Werder Bremen

Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen are reportedly lining up a shock January loan swoop for Cardiff City striker Robert Glatzel.

It is understood that the Bluebirds are in the market for a forward this month following the exit of Gary Madine and the lingering injury woe of Isaac Vassell.

However, the German side are set to test City's resolve with news outlet Sport.de reporting that Glatzel is Werder's No.1 target in this window.

Werder's forward line has been severely lacking penetration this season, having scored just 26 goals all season, following a nasty cruciate ligament injury to Niklas Fulkrug.

It is claimed the German club are interested in a loan deal for Glatzel owing to the tricky financial situation they find themselves in.

Werder, who are struggling at the bottom of the table, are also thought to be interested in Strasbourg frontman Lebo Mothiba.

It is said both strikers meet the club's criteria: A physical forward who is also proficient in the air.

In an exclusive interview with WalesOnline back in September, Glatzel revealed it is his dream to play in either the Premier League or the Bundesliga. And with City a way off pushing for promotion to the top flight this, will the lure for Bundesliga football prove too much for him?

Cardiff manager Neil Harris today revealed that there have been NO bids for any of his players and it is believed the club are reticent to let any more outfield players leave without having replacements ready to step in.

In any case, it appears incredibly unlikely that Harris will allow Glatzel, who signed only in the summer from Heidenheim, to leave this month.

He and Danny Ward are the only recognised strikers in contention, with Omar Bogle seemingly out of favour, however Callum Paterson has recently been deployed up front.

The 26-year-old German has scored four goals in 18 appearances this season and while he has hardly set the world alight, he has offered enough of a glimpse to suggest there is a talented striker in there somewhere.

While Glatzel is unlikely to leave, we could see one of the three goalkeepers head for the exit door this month.

Hopefully bullshit as he's our most talented striker

Our manager not mentioned it...

Would be absolute madness to let Glatzel go, particularly on loan.

But hey ho this is Cardiff City FC.

Hope it doesn’t happen...the service up to Glatziel has been schit for most of the season.
I’m probably on my own but I think he can still make it atCity ..

If this is true, then you can’t make it up.

Get rid of a 6m striker for nothing.

Get shot of a 6.5m striker.

Bring in Keifer Moore or play Paterson as the target man.

They're looking for "a physical forward who is proficient in the air"

With the best will in the world....

Is this 2002?

Give Leo Fortune West a bell to see if he’s up to a challenge?

Get the money back and run hes awful. Nowhere near the standard expected and suggested by his price tag.

I'd be more than happy to see him go for the £6mill we spent and spend £3mill on Moore leaving another £3mill to strengthen our midfield.

It’s only a proposed loan back to Germany.

Keifer Moore would be a backward step.

Still think this guy can bang the goals in .But that’s only going to happen if we get more quality in the middle and pace on the wings. Playing with his back to goal doesn’t help we need to be banging in crosses from out wide so he can get on the end of them.
I know he’s missed a couple in the air from good positions but it’s a No’s game given the right service as mentioned still think he’ll come good.
Anyone who thinks Moore would do a better job with the lack of quality and pace in our side must be joking.

I don’t believe any of it. There’s no one team Out there that would possibly want him.

Loan or not, we'd still need a replacement. Let's think about this before we jump in :sad7:

Re: Glatzel on his way ?

Might be a good move for him as he is way off the pace and strength for championship football. Can’t see him making it in the bundesliga either and his dream
Of playing premier league will remain just that

Re: Glatzel on his way ?

if this happens I take it the club are doing £50 season tickets next season because that’s the only way they’d sell them

Re: Glatzel on his way ?

Crocodile tears I'm afraid because Glatzel is slagged off every week on here. Next scapegoat step forward!!

Re: Glatzel on his way ?

Get real, Glatzel is going nowhere we want a striker not get rid of one. The team that wants him has not got a pot to piss in.

You are not alone mate  it would be stupid to let him go,as you say,the service to him has been piss poor, and I believe he will come good if we can improve the service to him. :old: :bluebird:

Again, I'm in agreement; Glatzel is not the problem and he has shown signs he could come good, if he gets the right service for his particular style/strengths

And them strengths, are ball on the ground football, not just lumped up to him.if the rumours around werder bremen coming in for him, they know can see with the right service, he could save their season, just as all of us were pinning our hopes on emiliano saving our top league status. :old: :bluebird:

WoL filling pages again

Better and quicker service is what he needs plus a bit of tidy competition.

Agreed, I also think Glatzel has a chance of making and is improving. Thought he was excellent against the Jacks.

Anyone thinking Moore, who has scored 2 all season, is bonkers !!

Keep Glatzel. Get rid of Bogle.

Get rid of both, hopefully we'll get some money for Glatzel, and Bogle will be gone on a free in the summer anyway.

No need to worry though, we'll probably sign Lee Gregory, should be a good fit- he's 31 and past it. And Keifer Moore , the goal machine, for £4m!!

Needs better service or someone playing up top with him he allways has to come far too deep to get ball for me

I’m a big supporter of Glatzel, as already said, he doesn’t get the service he needs but he certainly isn’t proficient in the air. I wouldn’t loan him out though but would sell him at the right price, and replace him with someone more suitable to our style of play, because the only player who can provide the right service is Tomlin, and even he,can’t do it all the time. I hope we don’t sign Moore as I see that as a step backwards in terms of quality of player and style of play.

Who's Moore? I've missed that link ?
