WRITTEN OFF SEASON

Sat Jan 18, 2020 5:13 pm

It seems to me that the top of club have written off the season since warnock left, and harris is just a caretaker to steer the ship to the end of the season,
what a let down for all fans and season ticket holders, all very well with been debt free, but having to watch its getting harder every match.

We draw at St Andrews, a really hard place to go and people are losing their f*cking minds. I give up with modern football fans and modern football.

I agree ..start of season its somewhere youd take a point,
first half we were poor...second half Birmingham were not just 2nd best but were lucky to only be 2nd... but we have no quality ? pace ? idea ? .
so how the f**k were we on top

Exactly, I give up honestly. You'd think we were Man City not Cardiff City, our fans are delusional

Re: WRITTEN OFF SEASON

The most successful EFL manager fuqked off a third of of the way through the season when he realised that his squad were not up to it. He had money and squandered it, it may not be as much as many other clubs but we will have lower debts and at some point this will kick some clubs pretty hard.

We then hire a manager (don't think he is the first team coach) who must be judged on potential as nothing he has achieved as either a player or manager suggest he should be involved in a top end championship club.

We won't go up or down, so no point buying anyone in this window. No need to say but the summer will be massive, we need half the team to leave one way or another.

My fear is the "Harris philosophy" is that of a 2005 championship team.

Re: WRITTEN OFF SEASON

Quite obvious this is a rerun of the post relegation with slade.
No ambition, an owner and chairman who are absent and in all aspects a cost cutting exercise of all areas, whilst employing an out of work manager with an appalling track record but will go along with the heirachy instructions.
Lets see how many season tickets are sold for next season watching the dross served up by NH

I agree with both of you. Perhaps we realise that this is Cardiff City, not Barcelona.

squandered ..we had huge gaps to fill . yes id love to live in the imaginary world where you get better players for less money too. but I don't, i live in the one where reid is worth 11 mill zohore is worth 8 and pack and flint and white and glatzel are all worth less..

Man City, Barca...I'd settle for playing like Brentford

Re: WRITTEN OFF SEASON

Sat Jan 18, 2020 6:11 pm

Expectations so high..
Not many teams go down and go straight back up
Let’s re group, keep finances in order and see where we get to
Just enjoy supporting your local team.
Don’t know how many would cope with the days of div2

Challenging for top six will do me, I just dont see it under NH.

I expect fans of many Championship clubs would settle for playing like Brentford, which is why they are 5 points outside an automatic promotion place, and tipped by some to pip Leeds for that final spot. Probably helps that their manager has been at the club since 2016 while ours has been here for a few months.

mate I would have high expectations too had we kept last years players and added...
that's not what happened so this year was a re build and play offs if fortunate..
I cant get my head around where the expectations come from..
lose a chunk of your better players, replace with cheaper = promotion  how

In the second half first time this season and the quality in the team is tomlin you take him out of the starting 11 it's completely diff if we lost him through injury we would be in trouble and you say pace where the hell is that in the team ???

Said that in a diff post earlier if we dont bring anyone in jan that will speak absolute volumes

Re: WRITTEN OFF SEASON

The expectation came from the promotion master himself, Neil Warnock. He had another go to push his record out of reach for the next challenger.

We all bought into the "Sir Neil" can turn water into wine mantra. If he thought £8 mill was too much to turn down for Kenny, and Bobby at £11 mill needed to go as well, we may have looked quizfully, but nodded our heads in trust.

We don't know how much he had to spend and what the budget was. We don't know if he had the final say in Kenny or Reid. As with Warnock his cheaper buys appear better than the more expensive ones. Flint, Pack & Glatzel have turned out to be disappointing

I look at our squad in the cold light of day and realise its bang average especially without the Warnock factor. Our biggest book asset barely starts a game, and the only player i reckon other teams would want is Ralls !!

I thought the playoffs were out of reach after the Millwall game, no disgrace in that, 20 teams don't make it.

I don't think this is a Slade situation, we don't have ridiculously overpaid players that no one else will touch, they just don't fit a style. We can move them on with a small loss.

Hope to see if Issac Vassell at some point, i missed his cameo.

Its going to be a season that teases us fans with how close we should and could be but reality will kick in when the end of our season comes to a close and we are 9th

I agree that the club has written off the season and at times it looks like the players are already on the beach!

It's going to be very interesting to see how the club plan to approach the sale of season tickets for next year. People will only believe the usual bollocks for so long until it becomes abundantly clear that the club's words and actions are completely different.

My bet is that they'll actually reduce the season ticket prices for next season but that we'll still only end up with about 8-10 thousand sold.

I agree, unfortunately I can see us losing thousands of season ticket holders and crowds going back to the days of Russell Slade.

So if the club has written off this season. Maybe the fans should do likewise and write off the club .
Remember this dross is being served up to big attendances by cardiffs standards.

I'm in agreement I think the numbers will drop massive next season . I fear we wont get anybody in this window esp paying a fee that will show the ambition from the board / club you would like to think the season tickets not far off club show intent

Re: WRITTEN OFF SEASON

Sat Jan 18, 2020 11:16 pm

I wrote off this season as soon as we got relegated.

Losing the likes of Gunnerson and keeping on Warnock for just the one season did not sit right with me. Losing to Wigan first game of the season didn't help. A few games later i was feeling a lot worse than better.

Warnock leaving I thought was a better now than never situation. The appointment of Harris does not concern me like most on here. We will survive this season under him but it's what next season brings that matters to me now. Will he be given the chance by the board is my first question. If he does get the chance then I will judge him from there.

Is two playoff finals and promotion a failure? Doesnt matter what league it is in its still an achievement unless of course your a city fan and its deemed a failure...

The truth is even with as you call it the"Warnock factor" we are a bang average squad, that very same neil Warnock who couldn't manage to get HIS teams to turn up in the derby games, realised that, and off he went ;) as for reid,he "dreamt" of playing for fulham, wanted to go,so was allowed to.what do you suggest a manager can do,keep him and play him in the reserves at a great financial cost, plus his form would nose dive, better to let him leave, and lose nothing, save a wage for someone who actually wanted to be here, and even make a tiny profit  I too thought that with a few quality additions,we could challenge for the play offs, how it's turning out,not likely, but this division is a bitch, ask good old leeds :laughing5: :old: :bluebird:

Usually enjoy your posts but not this one. Every fan at this club after the Man U game last season (last May) thought the squad we had at that precise time were good enough to go straight back up and happy with Warnock in charge as he was the best man for the job and we were still wallowing in exceeding expectations the year before. Because some players decided that they were too good enough for the championship they didn’t finish the job they were brought in to do. So Warnock had to replace them fairly quickly (July/Aug). Warnock then got a big squad together which he knows will should give us an advantage over other teams in the second half of the season. But because we, the fans started getting on his case, so so early on, he walked like he always said he would if he felt our relationship was turning sour. We let him down, so do badly. Most of you turned on him, like rats, myself included to a lesser degree because I went along with it, and didn’t stand up for him. I feel like I’ve let Warnock down. We turned on a family member when he needed us for the 1st time. Well he went and after a long and thorough recruitment process lol of about a week (what other job would you have that) we end up with hamster face Harris. We thought he was the cheap option at the time because he is. He reminds people of slade and Trollope because he does by his coaching ( against Brum admitted f**k this boys were crap playing my way go back to warnockballs) style, the current teams playing style, his briefings and we the fans see the resemblance to them. Unless he does something spectacular (really not believable) we will probably end up mid table just missing out on playoffs. We end up keeping him, he messed it up replaced mid season by another slade Trollope Harris type manager and same happens next year. GET rid of him now! BEG Warnock back till end of season while a real successor can be identified and found and put in place before may ready for next season. Nice send off for Warnock last game everybody’s happy. We had the right man for the job but we the fans blew it. It’s not too late to avoid 2 or 3 more seasons of mid table boredom. I’m fed up of playing counting seagulls games like I had to, to survive the slade Trollope days. ST holder x 4 here and done all 92 so would like to think I have some right to say this. Sorry guys cannot take to Harris at all.

I pay to support my team rain or shine.

Christ i was down there when we were close to falling out of the league.

We're midtable in one of the hardest leagues in world football with the playoffs still in touching distance securing a point away at Birmingham.

Oh its so terrible isnt it!!
