The Bluebirds have been linked with a January swoop for the Wales forward, and reports claim the Latics have turned down Cardiff's approach for the striker


Cardiff City have had a £2.3m bid for striker Kieffer Moore rejected by Wigan Athletic, according to reports.

The Bluebirds allowed Gary Madine to depart Cardiff City Stadium earlier this week while Isaac Vassell remains sidelined due to injury.

Neil Harris revealed he could delve into the January transfer window in a bid to bolster his forward options.

And reports on Friday claimed that the Bluebirds were keen on a swoop for Wigan frontman Moore, who helped Wales to qualify for Euro 2020.


The Mail have since reported that Wigan have turned down the advances of Cardiff.

Moore is currently sidelined with a calf injury and has not played for the Latics since scoring in a 2-1 defeat to Luton Town at Kenilworth Road on December 7.

He has netted two goals in 17 Championship appearances for Wigan so far this term while he has scored twice in his four competitive outings for Wales.

Not my source. Ian Mitcelmore is one of the better journalists writing on all things Bluebird, so I suspect this is correct

As much as having Welsh players in our squad is a massive thing for me personally, I hope we don’t improve this bid, we have very little to spend, I like Moore, our system with Wales can suit him with quality crossers in the team, but I don’t see him improving is up top, would like to think we can get better through the loan system, along with a striker, I just hope we can bring in players to other areas that need strengthening, particularly the lack of pace in defence and midfield.

He has one job to do for Wales and that is to pin the centre halfs allowing Bale, Rambo, Brookes, Wilson or James to their thing. He is almost a decoy as they can't leave him free.

For us a as focal point pointless, he isn't as good as paterson in that role.

If Tan thinks that this bloke is the right target he is once again showing how little he knows about football.

Another striker who doesn't score and is currently injured - sign him up! Perhaps we could swap him for that bloke we signed from Birmingham in the summer who has scored almost as many goals as Moore in the two games he's played so far.

He's worth about one tenth of that. No wonder Wigan have turned down the offer - they know how Bolton took the piss with Madine and they'll wait until the end of the month by which time we'll have probably offered £7m.
