Would you take Warnock back?

Sat Jan 04, 2020 11:57 am

I would. I don’t think he was far from turning us around.

No. Definitely not.

Re: Would you take Warnock back?

Sat Jan 04, 2020 12:56 pm

No.

Awful football
Wasted money
No youth
No pace
Unsustainable.

Not a chance, I didn't see anything this season that suggested he was going to turn anything around. We need to start building for the future now. Warnocks football/signings were not doing that and is the reason for the lack of quality in the squad. Not sure Harris was the man to make the changes people had hoped for but he is here now so we need to get behind him. The football hasn't been brilliant but he has only lost two games and we are still in touch with the top 6.

Re: Would you take Warnock back?

No.

He should have gone at the end of last season.

Re: Would you take Warnock back?

No. With the exception of his boyhood club he is a short term solution, he is not a builder but a fixer. We need a builder

Always a legend for us, but Man u should have been his last game for us.

im a no too.. going back up is a 2 year BUILD at least not 1 and he himself restricted his time to 1 year..
but he took a team looking at relegation into the premier league, if that's not building I do not know what is...
as for this wasting money nonsense { not you } jeez we went to the premier league not the Scottish 2nd division.. an over achieving team go up lacking quality everybody and his cat said we would not go up and then when we did that we would finish bottom at best and our budget extends to 2nd tier players and 2 loans. teams with more quality with a far bigger budget go up and come straight back so where and how can you build ?

No . His time has come

He'll go down in history for Prem promotion and turning club around

He's antiquated ideas no longer fit

Re: Would you take Warnock back?

Sat Jan 04, 2020 2:36 pm

No our results have improved under Harris overall, dealing with Warnock's inadequate signings

I think an wful lot of the list below is a waste of money (you must inc wages and sign on fees) - more importantly it is not club or format building in a sustainable way to make our club more savvy when it comes to getting fees for players

take a look;;;;

Sol Bamba - A genius free transfer, still a rock at the back?
Junior Hoilett - Another great signing on a Bosman, even if he's lost a bit of form the last few seasons.
Kieran Richardson - Made six appearances after signing on a free but left a few months later. Still unattached.
Marouane Chamakh - Played 48 minutes of football but didn't look up to it. Hasn't found a club since.
Allan McGregor - Joined on loan from Hull and proved a valuable stop-gap in goal before returning to Humberside. Now back at Rangers.
Greg Halford - A Warnock favourite from Rotherham who was a utility option from the bench until he left in the summer. He's still without a club but has been training with an unnamed team in the Midlands. We caught up with him recently for this fascinating interview on life as a jobless footballer.
Ibrahim Meite - Brought in from Harrow Borough as an option for the Under-23s and never went anywhere with the club.
Neil Etheridge - Signed on a free from Walsall and proved a big hit between the posts.
Nathaniel Mendez-Laing - Nobody had heard of the Rochdale winger but he starred on the wing in last season's promotion. On his way back from injury at the moment.
Callum Paterson - Signed from Hearts as a right back (for £350,000 compensation) but has been brilliant in almost every other position
Loic Damour - Played a decent amount last season after signing from Bourg-en-Bresse but now appears marginalised.
Danny Ward - Another who Warnock poached from his old club Rotherham and has been a useful addition to the striking department.
Lee Tomlin - Much was expected of the £1.5million signing from Bristol City but he was plagued by inconsistency. Still contracted to the club but not in the 25-man Premier League squad and effectively an outcast by Warnock.
Omar Bogle - A gamble at £750,000 from Wigan that never really came off. Now on loan at Birmingham, he's made 11 appearances this season without scoring.
Craig Bryson - A useful loan signing from Derby County who played a big role in promotion and is back with the Rams as a regular under Frank Lampard.
Liam Feeney - Loaned from Blackburn and got an assist on his first appearance, but faded and now plies his trade for Blackpool.
Rolf Feltscher - Remember him? Signed as defensive cover, but never made a first team appearance before moving to LA Galaxy. Played 16 times for LA in 2018, amassing six yellow cards in the process. He's just been released from the club alongside Ashley Cole.
Gary Madine - £6million was spent in jan 2018 to lure Bolton's key striker to South Wales, but the wait for a first team goal lingers on.
Yanic Wildschut - Looked like he could be an important loan signing from Norwich but made little impact. Now on loan at Bolton.
Marko Grujic - The on-loan Liverpool youngster was a classy addition in midfield during a 13-game spell.
Jamie Ward - A loan swap with Tomlin saw Ward arrive from Nottingham Forest, but he only played four games.
Armand Traore - Like Ward, came on loan from Forest. And like him, his spell was blighted by injury. Since joined Turkish side Rizespor then come back?.
Josh Murphy - £11million transfer fee from Norwich. A real bright spark in 2018 season.
Greg Cunningham - Eyebrows were raised when Warnock shelled out £4million on another left-back, but the Irishman looks solid but loaned out of club.
Alex Smithies - His only first team game came in the Carabao Cup. Likely to get a chance in the New Year when Etheridge goes to the Asia Cup.
Bobby Decordova-Reid - The jury still is out on the £10million man from Bristol City but he looks a lively attacking player. On loan to Fulham.
Victor Camarasa - Appears a brilliant find on loan from Real Betis. A class act in midfield.
Harry Arter - Another excellent loan signing, at home in a Premier League midfield.
Joe Day – Free transfer from Newport as extra GK cover
Will Vaulks-£3 million from Rotherham squad player
Curtis Nelson – Free transfer Oxford Utd – squad cover with potential
Gavin Whyte – undisclosed fee – Oxford Utd – squad with potential
Aiden Flint - £6 million centre back
Marlon Pack - 3 year deal for undisclosed fee transfer Bristol midfield
Robert Glatzel - £5.5 million striker
Isaac Vassel -3 year deal for undisclosed fee transfer Birmingham - striker

Re: Would you take Warnock back?

No!!!!!!

It’s down to him we are in the place where we are!! Harris has been left with a slow ball watching unimaginative under achieving overpaid squad. A really tough job. I mean Smithies on 30k , his transfer dealings were absolutely appalling. Tactics, formations, lack of plans b and c, inability to pick settled and consistent sides, conceding regularly over 65% possession, I could go on and on.

No offence, but with respect, A ridiculous question

Re: Would you take Warnock back?

This is going to sound harsh but I believe he should have gone as soon as he got us promoted.

Admitted himself that he didn't like the Premier League and always struggled managing at that level.

No.

That OP is right up there with the most ridiculous posts for a long, long time. We have to try to build not take Warnock back until what, the end of the season?

No, move forward

Couldn't be more right! :ayatollah:

Warnock's legacy at this club is intact but is now firmly in the past

Like him, we move on and the baton is handed on... :ayatollah: :bluescarf:

Re: Would you take Warnock back?

Warnock should have stood aside after old Trafford last season but the nonsense of another promotion push and warnock this season with the players brought in this is y we r in the position we r in so so not a chance man has built his legacy at club slightly tarnished by start of this season

Re: Would you take Warnock back?

No. Warnock has put us back years.

Yes definitely, although I believe it more his choice to leave than the clubs

This was my belief, never forgetting he got us there, left a hero, instead he snuck himself out the back door, with a dire amount of skill and vision,he is mostly responsible for the poor signings, big contracts/wages,and as you say, openly spoke of his dislike of the premier league, and if I remember it was also to do with player power/ego's? I feel for harris, because whoever was chosen would be in the same boat!! Shame, but true. :old: :bluebird:

Just saw this post, funny I was talking about this with a mate the other day. Right now I probably wouldn’t but honestly if the poor performances and results continued for another month or so I honestly would take sir Neil back till the end of the season to steady the ship. Would be a backwards move and would do it in January as no point giving a short term manager a transfer window but I am not getting more concerned that Harris might be one of those managers who talks a good game but doesn’t deliver

That is very harsh and quite frankly ridiculous.

We did better than we deserved to in the Premier mostly because of Warnock.

No it was time for him to go but how can you make such a statement. Three years ago when he took over we were heading for League One and losing money at an alarming rate. Despite some of his bad signings we are now in a position where we will have certainly made a profit last year- our turnover would have been in the region of 140 million and we had the lowest wage bill apparently so we couldn't have lost money- and are guaranteed 80 million on top of that in next two years. If we don't put that to good use thats not Warnocks fault. Our fan base has grown and we had a promotion season and a season in the Premier League in which despite a limited squad we only just went down. Talk about short memories.
