So if we lose against the Jacks ?

Thu Jan 02, 2020 11:16 pm

I can see it being the straw that breaks the camels back. And the fans turning !! But who against ? The Players the Manager even Vincent Tan. Maybe all three.
It’s never been such a must not lose game that I’ve known. Mainly because no team has done the double of each other and to be the team that it happens to it just won’t be acceptable.

Well..............what if they win,we then meet in play off final,we win,we are promoted am they are not? Just trying to avoid the question ;) whilst it will give them bragging rights to do the double,it would erk them if that scenario played out!! Take the sting out of it for me anyway  :old: :bluebird:

Agree, I really do think for our new manager this is a must not lose game. Our fans are not known for patience if they think a change is required. I know it's only been a short while but we MUST NOT lose to the Jacks. :bluescarf: :ayatollah: :bluebird:

Yeah your right (depending on the performance) I think Harris will have a tough time winning fans over and the rest of the season every mistake or bit of bad luck will be jumped on. Truthfully, even if we win I want to see better play than last two home games. Yes it’s the players too but ffs it’s ultimately down to the manager. The clues in the term ‘manager’. If he can’t manage em then get him out. I’ve nothing against Harris appointment when it was made because I could understand the reasons for his appointment. Didnt like or agree with them, but understood the reasons, cheaper, safe pair of hands, young, willing to bring in academy etc etc. I wanted Chris houghton, but then everyone on this board had his or her own personal fav. I don’t think this bloke is up to it truth be told. It has brought back the sheer horror of Slade then Trollope back to me where I used to play count the seagulls with my sons to entertain them DURING the game. Not easy when they are in their late teens. Yes ST holders here who really can’t explain why after only 2 defeats out of 10 I just feel I ain’t gonna take to the guy

I love the quote - about counting the seagulls during the game under Slade!!

It WAS that bad and the most boring football I’ve ever watched.
I know ST holders who didn’t attend during that time and who’ve never been back.

If we lose against Swansea and the performances don’t improve I can see similar happening.

I have to say theres no pressure on Swansea , lose the game well a painful for a week or two but it wont define the season but it may should Cardiff lose coupled with a poor performance and the crowd turning againgst Harris and the team

Re: So if we lose against the Jacks ?

Fri Jan 03, 2020 9:44 am

Well we are going for play-offs, currently in them and would like to stay there, so there is pressure that comes with that. But it certainly wont be terminal should we not win.

Just looking at the forum and the thread topics you can tell who is feeling more nervous and who it means most to.

We essentially prematurely ended Warnock's Cardiff career and we may well do the same to Harris judging by the mood. Should be an interesting one to watch...

i wonder if Harris has any idea the scale of meltdown should we lose. ?
the first game was bad enough but this would be worse.
personally id take an exceptionally boring 0-0 right now..

I was shocked just how big the meltdown on here was after the first game. That relentless daily smear campaign on the Swans fans with the stickies etc I got banned as usual, all great fun. Seemed to take a week or so for people to calm down :D

I guess the only positive about losing the first double in South Wales derby history is you can be guaranteed that I will be banned for a week or so for breaking down the match, I'm sure with that knowledge some on here may even be hoping for it :laughing6:

if we played tomorrow youd most likely win...next week after you've sold the first team in the fire sale not so sure..

Re: So if we lose against the Jacks ?

I think we will struggle against most of the better teams in this division. Swansea's football is far superior to ours, and the game may be close if the Swans turn up without their shooting boots. If they convert the chances that they will inevitably create, we could be in for a very uncomfortable 90 minutes. I think we will have to make a big improvement just to compete with Bristol City, and they have to be favourites to do the double over us which would be the ultimate shame for us older fans.

You have 6 points in the last 5 games, we have 10 points in the last 5 games.

Unless you use a really weird parameter like 14 games or so (in which you may as well just use the season so far) then you are not in a better run than us at all. Not sure where you got that from.

Well it was hardly clinging on, we adopted a defensive approach to see the game out, Charlton went attacking to try and get the equaliser. The aim of that tactic was to close the game out and not concede, which we did. Did Woodman have to make a great save? Not that I recall.

You’d swear people are new to this game.
