TEAM NEWS:

NEIL HARRIS:

New faces Wednesday?

“Possibly. It’s about continuity in team and quad selection. I’m a big believer that if you’re playing well and the shirt is yours, you have to lose it or someone has to grab you off it.

People are picked on merit, on performances. We will have a roll call again tomorrow morning. Brentford have got real qualities.”

Bacuna injury?

“We’ve been quite fortunate, he looks OK. Not sure about Wednesday. Fearful when he came off hobbling, it didn’t look great, but it looks like an impact. Might be down to whether he can get a boot on or not. He is OK in flip-flops and trainers, just the football boot.”

I can't get to Griffin Park, is the match on TV?

Yes, the match is live on Sky Sports Red Button and Cardiff City TV.

About Brentford

Brentford Football Club is a professional association football club based in Brentford, Greater London, England. The club competes in the Championship, the second tier of English football. The club was founded on 10 October 1889 and has played its home matches at Griffin Park since 1904, after a nomadic existence playing at five previous grounds.

Brentford's most successful period came during the 1930s, when it achieved three consecutive top-six finishes in the top flight. The club has been Football League Trophy finalists on three occasions. Its main rivals are fellow West London clubs Fulham and Queens Park Rangers.

Previous Meeting

We last played Brentford in March 2018. We won this away Championship fixture 3-1. Neal Maupay gave the hosts an early lead but goals from Sol Bamba, Callum Paterson and Kenneth Zohore secured the three points for us.

I will be impressed if we come away with a point, delirious if we can win.we are on a run of sorts, whilst they have lost 2 of last 3 ? Can we extend the run,and breed confidence along the way,I hope so :bluescarf: ward and Tomlin up top? That move by tomlin, and run & finish from ward, was sweet, could they be the pairing that keep us rolling? Got to say I'm hoping so. :ayatollah: :old: :bluebird:

I believe so - one of the reasons I was keen to get it done this week. Use up the last of the years holidays and fly off to Dublin for a few beers on Thursday too! :occasion5:

I have a feeling we won't pick up any points from our next two games. Possibly an outside chance of a point from Brentford, but will have to show a big improvement if we are to come away from there with anything. Going for a home win.

Brentfords style is all wrong for us defensively but I also think we are all wrong for them going forward.

This could be a high scoring game

I'll go 3-2 to Brentford . Tough place to go at the moment I would be happy with a draw

3-2 above... I’m going 3-1.

Barnsley exposed our fragilities defensively (especially at fullback) and I see their pace and quick play frightening us tonight unfortunately. Really cannot see us containing them tonight.

I would like nothing more than to be proved wrong.

A draw would be a very handy result but we would need such an uplift in performance I don’t see it likely the way we ship goals

The Bluebirds are likely to have a number of faces returning to the fray this week, but the City manager has been reticent to change a winning side so far

Neil Harris will be facing something of a selection dilemma tonight as he prepares for a number of key figures to re-enter the fray for Cardiff City's clash with Brentford.

One worrying sign on Saturday was Leandro Bacuna hobbling off the field, but Harris allayed some fears by claiming the midfielder might have gotten 'lucky' with his injury.

There was some slight swelling around the ankle and it seems just a case of whether he will be able to get his boot on this evening.

Elsewhere, it looks like Joe Ralls is expected to be included in the squad in some capacity this week.

The Bluebirds boss felt it was too early for him to be brought back in last weekend but fully expects him to play some part this week, whether that be tonight or against Leeds United at Elland Road this weekend.

Ralls has stepped up his training in the last week and if he is back fit then would represent a real boost, especially if Bacuna is declared unfit.

Robert Glatzel will likely be back in contention this week, too, but given the recent performances of both Gary Madine and Danny Ward, it will purely come down to the manager's selection.

It also seems like a matter of time when Harris hands Jazz Richards a start and even hinted that the player could provide competition for Joe Bennett at left back, so don't be surprised if he is handed his first full start of the season.

Gavin Whyte has also forced his way back into contention, having fully recovered from the injury he picked up while on international duty with Northern Ireland.

The performances of wingers Junior Hoilett and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, however, have proved the cornerstone of Harris's success so far, though, therefore it would be a stretch to see them displaced.

So Harris looks set for something of a selection headache tonight, but it certainly isn't the worst problem to have.

Bookies don’t fancy us at all tonight 9/2 to win or 17/2 win and BTTS
Brentford almost 1/2 to win

The bookies have done their research as always...
it’s not that Brentford are world beaters, just the fact that they are exactly the wrong team for Cardiff right now and the way we defend. Can see us back to the 70/30 possession stats tonight

Brentford have struggled against teams that are more direct..
don't much care about possession.. 3 of the last 4 wins have come from 1/3rd pos or less ..and the last time we got more than 50% we lost.. means nothing.
0 - 2 to the City.

Brentford have lost 8 games so that tells me they are hit or miss.

A win for City tonight for myself :bluebird:
