Four points out of a possible six so far for Neil Harris
Latest Team News:
Cardiff City
Neil Harris will have to decide whether to stick or twist on the selection of Robert Glatzel, who the boss has described as a 'risk that might be worth taking'.
The German striker has scored twice for the Bluebirds since his £5.5m move from Heidenheim in the summer, but he has been sidelined since the South Wales derby a month ago.
Glatzel has been struggling with a hamstring problem and has missed City's last four matches, including both under new manager Harris.
But, even with Danny Ward also returning from a three-match suspension following his red card against Birmingham City, Harris suggested he might throw Glatzel back into the mix against Nottingham Forest today.
"Robert Glatzel is a bit of a risk to involve this weekend," said Harris, "and maybe it’s one worth taking."
Ward's return and Glatzel's timely recovery from fitness will likely mean Omar Bogle misses out all together.
In midfield, Joe Ralls is still a way off making his return, with Harris revealing that the player has not even back training with the squad yet.
Ralls has been in real form this season and his omission is a big blow for the Bluebirds.
Gavin Whyte will also miss the clash with Forest. The winger strained his hamstring while away with Northern Ireland on international duty and while he has trained with the squad, today's fixture will be too soon for him.
Armand Traore has suffered a setback with a calf strain, meaning he won't be involved, while Sol Bamba and Jazz Richards, both of whom played for the under-23s this week, are not quite up to speed yet.
Isaac Vassell and Matt Connolly are both long-term absentees.
Nottingham Forest:
For the hosts, Ryan Yates will be absent in midfield as he serves the second match of a two-game ban.
Alfa Semedo could fill that berth in midfield after he scored in a brief cameo at QPR. Tiago Silva, Ben Watson and Joe Lollley will all be in contention too, though, meaning Semedo will likely be on the bench.
Elsewhere they are relatively unscathed in terms of absentees.
About Nottingham ForestNottingham Forest Football Club, often referred to as Forest, is a professional football club based in West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire, England. They are also the oldest professional football league club in the world. Forest was founded in 1865 and have played home matches at the City Ground since 1898. They currently compete in the EFL Championship, the second tier of the English football league system.
Forest have won 1 League title, 2 FA Cups, 4 League Cups, 1 FA Charity Shield, 2 European Cups, and 1 UEFA Super Cup. The club has competed in the top two tiers of English football since their admission to the Football League, except for five seasons spent in the third tier. Their most successful period was under the management of Brian Clough and Peter Taylor in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
In Clough's last decade at the club, Forest won the 1989 and 1990 League Cups and were losing finalists in the 1991 FA Cup Final, before relegation from the Premier League in 1993. Upon an immediate return Forest finished third in the Premier League in 1995, before the club suffered relegation again in 1997 and, after a brief return, once more in 1999. Forest have not returned to the Premier League since.
Forest contest the Nottingham derby with city rivals Notts County, however as Forest have predominantly played in higher leagues than County fixtures between the two clubs have been rare in recent history. As such their main rivalry is with Derby County, and matches between the two clubs are known as the East Midlands derby.
Previous MeetingWe last played Forest in April 2018. We won the Championship fixture 2-1 at Cardiff City Stadium. Liam Bridcutt equalised for the visitors following Sean Morrison's opener, but Aron Gunnarson got the three points for us.
