Actually think he played well in that first half.
Comfortably his best performance for us, granted that's not saying a lot.
Would probably say he was our best player in the first half.
Hold up play very good and looking to get a shot in when he can.
Would love him to get a goal today for his confidence.

Tomlin needs to come on for Paterson.
Murphy on for Hoilett.
Even then it won’t be enough but it might offer more creativity

League 1 striker at best. Should be no where near a first team place. Hook him for Tomlin in the second half.
Sat Nov 23, 2019 1:25 pm
Couldn’t agree more he’s not put a foot wrong. No doubt the haters will say he’s been terrible and so on, but when he’s had the ball he’s not made one mistake.
One thing that’s pissed me off is that I don’t even recognise the Paterson we’ve seen this season, he’s been utter bollocks. It’s not even as if his energy makes an impact anymore. He’s just anonymous, and you hardly notice he’s playing.
I actually really liked the set up Neil played today, but due to Paterson being pathetic and our wingers having a really bad day it hasn’t worked.
I really don’t know what he can do for the second half other than the obvious Tomlin for Paterson. Murphy can come on for one of the wingers but he’s as hot and cold as the rest.

So you’d hook Madine before Paterson based on that first half performance. Waw!!!

Imho Madine is looking good

Not put a foot wrong???? Not putting a foot wrong would be having a shot on target that wasn't blocked or heading the ball into the net instead of wide or straight at the goalkeeper. He has not created a goal for anyone else or scored one himself. Yes he has been better than Patterson but so has the goalpost.

In all honesty probably the best performance by a starting striker this season
Sat Nov 23, 2019 1:40 pm
By saying Madine is our best striker or having a half decent game shows how our fans are either easy pleased or know nothing.
We have not got a half decent striker at the club and we are defensively awful.
Sat Nov 23, 2019 1:41 pm
Madine has played well.
As have Cardiff
Two sloppy goals
Sat Nov 23, 2019 1:41 pm
Madine well involved the last 15 minutes of the half.

Obviously nobody knows anything but you like normal.
You should have applied for the managers job

That's a matter of opinions of course, you have kind of made a rod for your own back,by stating fellow fans know nothing? Just an observation

Personally I thought he did ok,and would improve with a run of games, all matters of opinion,of course.

Let's be honest Paterson ( who is not fit) should have had a penalty and got in a shooting chance which went wide. Madine is a slow statue, without aggression.

Sorry but not for me, , could have found better positions and picked better runs, needed to stand up today and keep the shirt, wasn’t crap by a long chalk, some lay offs were ok and looked to find a shot, but we need so much more, more quality, more clinical finishing, more intelligence, it’s not there. I was willing him to get a goal . Just not worth the price tag, another poor Warnock signing, along with so many. Particularly Flint . Very poor today
It’s Ward, Glatzel, then Madine. Bogle needs to go , but we need a striker in January who is capable to head that aforementioned list.
Sat Nov 23, 2019 3:16 pm
It was positive improvement i would say, lots to work on but i feel it would work better with another striker playing with Madine.
If we play Tomlin, we need a striker and wingers looking to make runs so he can get the ball in front of them

A difference of opinion doesnt mean someone is spouting crap. It just means they see things differently from you. If you want to see everything with rose tinted glasses that up to you. I speak as I find thanks

Thought Madine played better than Paterson imo. I do feel Isaac Vassell would have been perfect for this system playing next to a big man and going in behind, shame he's injured atm.
Sat Nov 23, 2019 3:44 pm
Similar to his performance at the Wigan game

Ultimately Madine is a striker and he lives and dies by his ability to score goals. Today his all round game was quite good but his finishing was woeful. His finishing has been woeful in the three season he has been with us 22 games 0 goals. Sorry but that is just indefensible for a striker. He can't seem to get a strong header on target not straight at the keeper and you could make a cup of tea in the time he takes to get a shot off which is why they are constantly blocked.

woeful.. yes he missed 2 sitters ...

I thought he was ok considering he’s barely had any game time this season. He wasn’t our worst player by any means although he wasn’t our best player either. I would say he needs time to adjust to our team again because as I said he’s barely had any game time and also a new manager may mean a new way of playing. Personally I think he will progress and get better, but that’s just my prediction
Sat Nov 23, 2019 4:22 pm
Sometimes it just doesn't work for you and this is one of them.
We probably slightly overpaid for Gary at £2 mill with promotion add ons, but he was cover, back up or a kick up the arse for Kenny and everyone made money.
He is not the answer. I hope with what we witnessed today that Glatzel improves as he may be more used to this game plan than 1980's Cambridge United.
But in my hierarchy its
Ward - At least lower half Championship calibre
Glatzel - Purely hope
Bogle - League 1 good physicality but shocking technique
Madine - Needs to move on for his and our benefit.

agree.
he doesn't posses great trickery or pace but he is a footballer...nice to see someone out there that actually knows where the ball is going and where his teammates are...

Similar situation to Alex Smithies - albeit a different position - where he’s currently rusty due to a lack of first team exposure and in his case match fitness at that level.
Just as people initially knocked Smithies and then heaped praise on improved performances, I believe the same will happen with Madine who has never been given a chance at the club and by “a chance” I mean a minimum of 6 consecutive games.
Thought he had a good game today which bodes well for when the improvement kicks in, as it naturally will when he gets up to speed. Unleash the beast!
Sat Nov 23, 2019 9:48 pm
Madine was excellent today.
Linked well with the midfield and showed good awareness when holding up the ball. A few nice knocks out wide and gave their defence a hard time.
Thing is it was like having a new signing make his debut so not everything came off, but hopefully Harris sticks with him and then in the new year I think we could finally have the real Gary madine, who has been successful at every club he’s been at.
Sat Nov 23, 2019 10:17 pm
He did ok for Sheffield United last season. All our strikers have struggled under Warnock so a bit harsh to write him off completely. Thought he did ok today. Linked up better as he had a bit of support. You can tell he hasn’t played much football though so hopefully he’ll improve with more game time. I think Patterson is more of a concern. Doesn’t offer any link up play between midfield and striker.

I agree He played very well held the ball up, and worked hard, he is obviously a little rusty but given a run of games he could be like a new signing.
