‘ Welcome Neil Harris ‘

Sat Nov 16, 2019 2:20 pm

Neil if you are reading this forum you will understand that the reaction to your appointment has been muted or even negative. The reason is that fans expected a name with a bigger managerial reputation or higher profile career.

The truth is if you get this team working as hard as ever, giving their all for the shirt and playing decent football the results will hopefully come and we will be your biggest supporters and the backing from us fans in Cardiff is legendary.

Looking at your career you did a cracking job at Millwall and have a better track record coming in than popular bosses like Malky Mackay had before coming here or Sean Dyche coming in at Burnley. This is a different club to Millwall, one that expects to challenge for the play offs at least and is desperate to see a better quality of football. Provide these things and everyone will forget all the messages posted.

Welcome to Cardiff, now that you are here you will have the same backing that Neil Warnock hot and I really hope you succeed at our club and become another legendary managerial figure in Cardiff.

To paraphrase quote Mackay - fans here can forgive a lack of quality but they won’t forgive a lack of effort

Agree Annis. Whatever we think he’s now our manager. We move on and support him now. First game v millwalls rivals , Charlton.

Re: Welcome Neil Harris

He will get about 3 games before the fans turn. His football style is exactly the same as Warnocks which is the main issue. He has a good run of winnable games to start, if he fails he will not be in the job long.
I wouldnt be suprised if hes booed at the first game, yes we should give him time but this appointment is awful which ever way you look at it. The club had a perfect opportunity to excite the fans and move forward , they have blown it big time as 80% will not take to this appointment. Just reading comments on here, twitter and Facebook says it all

Welcome Neil and good luck.i did not want you as manager.

I haven’t enjoyed watching the style of football or the signings made to utilise that at CCFC in a very long time, I hope you can change that.

Our academy is failing and being upstaged by our rivals Swansea City, please change that

We have one constantly injured Welsh player, and another who has hardly kicked a ball, we would like a few more, it’s important to city fans, not vital but important, please change that

There’s to much ball watching, slow paced unimaginative players at CCFC please change that

Our local derby performances this season are not what we expect, please change that

You will need time as you are not inheriting a good squad, I hope you get time, I hope you can deliver a few of the above. A big ask, and I wish you luck.

Let’s do this

SVEN

The majority did' nt want this appointment so how do you come to that conclussion that the majority are suddenly going to change there mind .
The fans might be respectful but that does not change the majority of fans view that this was not what they wanted judging by the poll rating on this forum, just say it as it is, not how you wish it would be.

Welcome to Cardiff City Neil, welcome to the never ending roller coaster ride and welcome to the most passionate fans in football. All we ask is that our team shows the same passion and commitment as we do.

Make us proud Neil. :bluescarf: :ayatollah: :bluebird:

Will give Neil and the team my support and would like to see PROGRESS both on and off the field. Something we have seriously lacked over the past two years. Personally, I'm disappointed as I think with proper planning behind the scenes we could have done better. I hope I'm wrong but my opinion is that the board have very little footballing nouse and I'm frustrated that we could be doing so much better, again ON AND OFF THE FIELD.

Agree with you, and most of the moaners are those of us who use the forum. The opinions I read here are often completely different to those I hear at the ground and in the local pubs. Hardly a shock, I am sure a lot of these critics never actually attend a game.

In four years at Millwall he took them to Wembley twice and kept them up in this b*stard of a league. He deserves this chance

Steve at the ground fans wanted NW to go they were getting fed up of the way we played his subs team selection ! His time was up and he knew it, harris is not as bad as fans making out if keeping them in championship and getting to two play offs winning one how many managers in championship have done that? Hopefully fans be surprised by him and his tactics and perhaps can get more out of glatzel and others that NW failed to do.

Annis that's not bad and maybe he can get more out of glatzel and others that NW failed to do? We haven't got a bad side it just needs a bit of a push and change of personnel to give them confidence in their ability. :bluescarf:

Not a bad record at an unfashionable club with limited resources. Experienced with a decent return from the games he has managed, and yet some of those complaining the most wanted someone with zero experience managing at this level, and a history of controversy wherever he has been.

Well he ain't gonna change the style in 3 games with the players we've got.

Welcome, Neil, to Cardiff City football club. Realise he's not everyone's first choice, he wasn't my personal choice, either. But it's time to let it go now and get behind him and the team and give him a chance.

Re: ‘ Welcome Neil Harris ‘

Please back the man.

He got Millwall promoted from League One to the Championship,

And took them to an 8th placed finish following promotion, narrowly missing out on the play offs

Deserves his chance at a bigger club, with a higher calibre of player and bigger budget

Every new managerial appointment deserves a chance to prove themselves

Welcome back to Cardiff, Neil Harris!

I’ll give him a huge welcome he will understand we are a fickle kind, supporters that is! Or rather we are passionate as we go across the border every away game except one and even there we get abuse!

So you can understand why we care so much. Take no notice of some of the comments on your appointment. I personally welcome you as you are now a Bluebird and we are one.

I’m sure you’ll do well and then some will be moaning your being poached by a bigger club than us!

Let’s give him a fair crack now he’s here. We might be pleasantly surprised. Somebody within the club clearly has a lot of faith in him given he was the No 1 target from day one

Great post from the op!
Welcome Neil, you got my 100% backing! I admit I wanted someone proven who has got teams up to the Premier league. But now you’ve signed, I have a good feeling about your appointment and you did a great job at Millwall. I’m sure the fans will give you time. It’s onwards and upwards!

Where have I moaned ?
I dont think this is a good appointment and no matter how much everyone tries to make it look somewhat ok , they cant.
I stated i do not think fans will give him much time like they did with Warnock. Fans wanted a better quality of football that is a fact and Harris will not bring that.
We need to give him time but if he starts badly the fans will turn against him very quickly as he is not the name people wanted.
Its depressing to state facts I know

On the other point , Guardiola would be shit in the championship with no money to spend

100% correct Thomas blue .he's on a hiding to nothing anymore of the shite we've produced this season and he get slaughtered as quickly as 4 or 5 games.
