Liberty Stadium The early Swansea City vs Cardiff City team news
It will be the first South Wales derby since February 2014
Joe Rodon is "touch an go" to be fit for Swansea City's huge South Wales derby clash with Cardiff City today.
The Wales international took a knock to the ankle and will be assessed ahead of the visit of Neil Warnock's side.
It comes after the central defender was withdrawn in the second half of Swansea's 1-1 draw with Barnsley at Oakwell after sustaining a separate ankle problem.
He was deemed fit to feature in midweek, with Rodon playing the full 90 minutes of the 3-0 defeat to Brentford at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday night.
Aldo Kalulu is the only confirmed absentee for Swansea, with the versatile attacker still sidelined with the ankle injury he suffered in August.
CARDIFF CITY FC:
As for the visitors, they head into the game having not registered a win on the road all season – and what Warnock would give for that statistic to change after today's match.
But he will have to do it without Junior Hoilett, the winger having not recovered from hamstring injury he sustained against Millwall on Tuesday night.
And it now appears Sol Bamba will definitely miss the derby clash. Warnock said the only way the Ivorian would force his way into the starting lineup if something were to happen to one of Aden Flint or Sean Morrison and it seems as though that has not happened.
Isaac Vassell is another long-term absentee who again will miss today's clash.
On a more positive note, however, Cardiff's Leandro Bacuna is back in the fray having recovered from the illness which ruled him out of the trip to Millwall this week.
FIRST SOUTH WALES DERBY SINCE 2014

About Swansea CitySwansea City Association Football Club is a Welsh professional football club based in Swansea, Wales that plays in the Championship, the second tier of English football. The club was founded in 1912 as Swansea Town and joined the Football League in 1921. The club changed their name in 1969, when they adopted the name Swansea City to reflect Swansea's new status as a city. Swansea have played their home matches at the Liberty Stadium since 2005, having previously played at the Vetch Field since the club was founded.
In 1981, the club was promoted to the original Football League First Division. It was during the following season they came close to winning the league title, but a decline then set in near the season's end, before they finished sixth, still a club record. It was from here the club suffered a relegation the season after, returning to the Football League Fourth Division a few seasons later, and then narrowly avoided relegation to the Football Conference in 2003. The Swansea City Supporters Society Ltd owns 20% of the club, with their involvement hailed by Supporters Direct as "the most high profile example of the involvement of a supporters' trust in the direct running of a club". The club's subsequent climb from the fourth division of English football to the top division is chronicled in the 2014 film, Jack to a King – The Swansea Story.
In 2011, Swansea were promoted to the Premier League. On 24 February 2013, Swansea beat Bradford City 5–0 to win the 2012–13 Football League Cup (the competition's highest ever winning margin for the final), winning the first major trophy in the club's history and qualifying for the 2013–14 UEFA Europa League, where they reached the Last 32 stage but lost over two legs to Napoli. Swansea were relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2017–18 season.
Previous MeetingThe last South Wales Derby was in February 2014 in the Premier League, as we lost 3-0 at the Liberty Stadium. It was Garry Monk's first match as manager for the hosts as Wayne Routledge, Nathan Dyer and Wilfried Bony got the goals.
