CCFC retained list confirmed/Kadeem Harris Released

Cardiff City FC can confirm that a retained players list has now been submitted.

First Team players Aron Gunnarsson & Kadeem Harris, having been with Cardiff City since July 2011 & January 2012 respectively, will depart South Wales this summer at the end of their current contracts.

Stuart O'Keefe will also leave the Club at the end of June, along with U23 midfielder Tyrone Duffus & Scholars Adam Sharif, Jordan Duffey and Henry Smith.

We remain in discussions with goalkeeper Brian Murphy

under contract players must be on a retained list..you cant just decide to not honour contracts.

Shame Kadeem is being released but in reality he is 4th choice, plus if we are after the lad from portsmouth he was never going to be retained.

I believe it was a two year running until 2020 which would explain why he’s on the retained list.
That, of course, doesn’t mean they won’t try to offload him the same as Tomlin etc.

I think he may be paying the price for messing us about in the negotiations last time. The club may have got wind of unrealistic demands again about a new contract and as he hasn't really come on a great deal since- hasn't been bad to be fair but nothing special- they have decided there are plenty more out there of a similar or better quality.

But when he does play it's not as if hes out of his depth, I said he would be good as a squad player I didnt say he was going to be a starter did I? We need depth but now we will likely pay a transfer fee or give someone a decent signing on bonus and added wages when we could of offered him a year extension or something, but like it's been mentioned hes messed us around in the past so that's why I'm assuming he hasn't been offered a new deal

im struggling to get your point .
you have to leave some go to bring others in. .ideally someone that works out and is good enough to be 1st choice which then ,makes the current 1st choice the squad player..? it don't always work out, but you have to try to improve surely

I was surprised to see those names included tbh; but it may explain the real reasons they were sent out 'on loan' earlier in the season and certainly in one case before the tragedy occurred

A little surprised but not totally shocked to see Kadeem Harris released, as he has contributed little in the last two seasons, despite his early promise. I am sure he will find another club quickly; possibly in the Championship

Can see several on the retained list being available for transfer or (at worst) being loaned to other clubs; Bogle, Connolly, Damour (personally, I'd like to see him play), Madine, Tomlin and maybe one or two others

That will leave room for some decent signings as we push for a quick return to the Premier League
