Like him or loathe him

Mon Jun 03, 2019 10:10 am

Like him or loathe him, he's the President of the USA and our closest allie. Folk should focus on the positives that he's done in America and not be swayed by the far-left media. He's also done more for black people in America than Obama ever did. God bless America, The Queen and GB

We need America more than they need us, they are our biggest allies a fact :thumb right:

Maybe we do need America more than they need us, but it doesn't make any of Trump's actions acceptable.

People have short memories.

Khan has not been a good Mayor, but that doesn't make the personal abuse he's received right.

The sooner Trump is out of office the better.

How refreshing to see a politician do exactly what he said he would do .

Not a huge fan of Trump but don't see the point of Labour and Lib dems refusing to meet him as if they are serious about getting into power what they going to do then?still refuse to speak to our greatest ally. Bloody jokers!!!

Also Khan can call Trump a FACIST but then Labour get their knickers in a twist when Trump calls Khan a LOSER!!!!

The USA will still be our biggest allie long after these two have passed into history so this should be seen as a pointless spat between two people that should know better.

Khan thinks 17.4 million of us are fascists for exercising our democratic right and voting to leave the institution that is the European Union. Pretty indifferent to Trump to be honest but he's the elected leader of a country that sacrificed more than enough blood to earn a lifetime of respect the leaders and prospective leaders of this country. No time at all for Khan on this or any other subject although the way London is these days he could be there sometime.

We’ll said Annis.

I'm not sure I have a full opinion on Trump either way.

I didn't like that recording where he bragged about being able to touch female private parts just because of who he is. But there again his stated aim is to put America first. God we could do with a Prime Minister who puts the UK first rather than one that caves in at the first sign of resistance and throws £39billion away.

Re: Like him or loathe him

If the major of new york or Washington, behaved the way kan has to our prime minister the bbc would be up in arms about it, kan yesterday on andrew marr program almost inciting protest, and we as tax payers have to pay for the policing of these protest, he is abusing his position and as a muslim has decided to bash the president.
The bbc also they have that 100 day program 7 pm every night since the president took offfice and have slagged him off every day on that program
What has happened to there theory about russia's involvement in there elections gone very quite,
Jason Muhammad bbc program radio wales also has a bee in his bonnet about the president because he was stopped at customs in the usa because of his name, and his sticking up for kan in a clever roundabout way this morning was so obvious,
Granted D trump, is not everybody's favourite but its a state visit and should be treated accordingly
I bet he is glad corbyn is not at the dinner table, bloody pacafist

we would be un a right state if he was ever to be PM if we ever got into trouble and a conflict the white flag would be up after the first bullet was fired.

I don't have to much of an opinion on him to be honest, I have no doubt he is a bit of an idiot but at the same time he was voted in as president and is doing his best to get done what he promised those people.

What I don't really get is why people in the UK want to protest about who the Americans have voted in as president. None of my business I know that.

Re: Like him or loathe him

He told the American people what he would do if they voted him in. He is trying to stick to his word. They knew what they were getting, and still voted for him. Be refreshing to see our politicians stick to their pledges, but we all know that is never going to happen in the UK.

Your right if our politicians did same we wouldn't be in the mess we are in now? Take look at labour 2016 wanted m4 relief rd now they going to reject it at what cost to business!

Last time I looked the businesses were not footing the bill. And the environmental cost is huge.If you want to compare political knobs just look at the Tories spunking dosh over that new rail line with the spiraling costs that will be borne out by a generation just being born.

that road has needed sorting for decades...and anything that's ever been built has had environmental costs .
about time we had a 2nd vote on the WAG.

So Sadiq Khan, a politician that you may love or loathe, won a straightforward vote with 56.8% of the vote yet we're supposed to respect Trump more than him despite Trump getting less actual votes (62,984,828) than Hilary Clinton (65,853,5140) ? That's some logic you're using there !!

And as for Trump "doing more for black people than Obama" .................. well words fail me

Perhaps if that's the case you can explain why such a low percentage either voted or would vote for Trump ?

You are entitled to your views on whom you prefer as a politician but let's not make things up.

Trump thinks climate change is "fake news", despite virtually every renowned scientist having a contrary view.

Trump is a fraudster who made billions by ripping off creditors by putting his companies into bankruptcy 6 times. Eventually he made money but only because of the vast amounts of inherited wealth he had to speculate over and over again whilst trampling all over the people he owed money to.

Where I do agree with you is that we have had similar visits for other despicable regimes (China, Saudi's, etc.) when we shouldn't have and that needs to be reviewed for the future for sure.

Quote:

Trump’s approval with black voters in May 2017 was 17%, 9 points higher than his actual Election Day vote at 8%. That was still 2 points higher than Mitt Romney received. It hit a high of 21% in July and fell dramatically to a low of 5% during the Charlottesville controversy before, again surprisingly, rising back up to 17% in July two months later.

The last figure was 16% in May of 2018 with an aggregate across the 12 months of 14%.

Clearly, if even 14% translated into actual votes on Election Day 2020, then Trump would win in a landslide given the heavy concentration of black voters in swing states. Remember, he won in 2016 with just 8% support nationally among black voters.

there s a reason why the usa system is like it is ,most of the major cities are Democrats on thw east or west coasts but only a small area in land mass and if it went on popular vote then there would always be a Democrat president the college vote system was to be fairer for the whole of the united states ,trump won fair and square
