Pundits on why Cardiff City fans have 'turned' on their team and Sean Morrison after latest slumpBy Dominic BoothThey also discussed Sol Bamba's injury and the 2-0 defeat for Neil Warnock's side at WolvesPundits Danny Gabbidon and Iwan Roberts believe Cardiff City fans
"turned" on their players after recent defeats to Wolves, Everton and Watford — in particular captain Sean Morrison.
Ex-Cardiff star Gabbidon called the flak for Morrison
"out of order" as the pair discussed Sol Bamba's injury absence and the Bluebirds' dismal form of late.
Speaking on BBC podcast Feast of Football, they admitted Bamba was a huge miss and discussed the chances of Neil Warnock's side beating the drop.
On Bamba, Gabbidon said:
"It's a blow for Cardiff because he is the leader in the team — I know Sean Morrison is the captain, but Sol is the guy who leads the team on the field of play with his organisation and the way he plays.
"He's all action and he'll be a miss.
"But it has been an up and down season for him: there have been some mistakes and some goals as well.
"So to hear the stick Sean Morrison has been getting since coming back into the team for me is out of order really."Former Wales, Leicester and Norwich striker Roberts described how the Bluebirds fans have turned in the past few weeks, though added the caveat that
"this season (they) have been fantastic".
He said:
"They knew it was going to be tough, they knew they needed another miracle to stay in the league — and they've still got a chance to stay in the league — and they knew they'd get the odd hammering.
"But they did turn when they lost to Watford, they turned against the players against Everton.
"And as ex players you can totally understand their frustration and anger at times.
"The players don't lack effort, they just lack quality."

I found this article interesting but I don't overly agree with it
It is certainly a fact that
some so-called Cardiff City 'fans' have turned on the players
and that is clear looking at some of the comments on this Forum but the inference is that all/most have?
I do not believe it to be the majority of supporters and I have not seen masses of evidence of that at either home or away games; rather the usual (and I mean not altogether recent) disappointment at seeing the capitulation of the team, which results in a few random usually
'on exit' comments as they leave the stadium early
Some are clearly frustrated (we are in a tough battle this season) whilst others are often overly expectant with regard to what the team should be achieving in any given match
One thing is for sure; every game from now to the end of the season is an effective 'Cup Final' and something our supporters should embrace
Little more than a year ago we could only dream of being in the Premier League with even a chance of staying up
I am not going to 'give up' on the team no matter how disappointing recent results have been of late and (with a few clear exceptions) I don't believe the vast majority of attending supporters will either
Big game Saturday; a near sell out (32,000+ sold) suggest City supporters are still behind the team!

I certainly haven't, but some on here have definitely turned on Morrison and singled him out, I have heard a few shouts as well with people blaming him for mistakes that aren't even anything to do with him.
It's not a major problem but there are a few who are making a scapegoat of him IMO.

The fans who have turned have the most unrealistic expectations of this season and threaten scuppering the entire ethos this team has been built upon.
As soon as you call these people out for being what they are (petty losers) they start accusing you of being too positive and re-emphasise their need to have their opinion heard.
Unfortunately those with a negative outlook often shout the loudest, but I'm unashamedly loud and proud; positive no matter what happens between now and the end of the season.
For those idiot boo-boys, apart from the first 25 mins against Everton, Morrison has barely put a foot wrong and he's not hiding at all. He's a big reason we're in the Premier League anyway so I hope those with no short-term memories are made to eat their words as he grabs some vital goals and clean sheets between now and the end of the season

Yeah, agree. I was "Dissapointed" with Morrissons recent contributions, but I haven't turned on him. I'm actually excited to see the Manga & Morrison partnership back, despite losing such a big influence in Bamba. Who knows it could work out.

I love Sol, but I definitely think there are less mistakes in Morrison and Manga. We just need Sean to pop up with the goals Sol has been putting in.

Just because some fans have a negative view does not make them any less of a fan that's happy to watch us get 5-0 thumpings every week, we will still be there whether were in the national league or the premier league it does not matter, what does matter to us is seeing our players conceding a goal and then seemingly losing interest. Most of us can take losing a game but not a lack of effort. And as the fans pay their hard earned money to watch then they have every right to have an opinion whether it's good or bad, if we play bad then criticism is inevitable if we play well then the team and management are rightly praised. We are going through a bad patch and looking hopeless but our fortunes will change and hopefully by some miracle we can stay up and then it's all sunshines and rainbows again

Many fans have singled out Sean Morrison as the reason we are lately doing bad, many fans are saying it, but to be fair No abuse at the matches towards any City players

As the saying goes "Things can only get better"

I was disappointed when SM was brought back in,because I don’t think he was fit enough and we’d won against Bournemouth and Southampton. If he’d been on the bench against Watford and then come on, I don’t think that would have been a problem. I’ve never done anything that support the team during the 90 mins but that doesn’t stop me having an opinion on team selection and tactics, to me, that’s a massive part of being a football fan.

I've always had a little moan when Bruno is played out of position at full back as he can't pass or cross a ball, but in his natural position he gets no moans from me. Apart from one or two plastics in and around 113 I don't hear anybody "turning on their own players"
Wed Mar 06, 2019 4:21 pm
I personally dont think we can afford to play Manga, Bamba and Morrison in the same team in the Premier League. We played well when Morrison was out and i didn't think he needed to come straight back in. His performances haven't been great and we should have kept with a winning team and shape as far as possible. He was brought back unnecessarily, in my opinion. Now, we need him. At his best.

Only seen it on here, Not on Facebook where people have to use their own names. easy to hide behind a username

Gabbidon gave his opinion and stated only a while back on the radio about bringing morrison back to soon he needs to make his mind up what he says.
Wed Mar 06, 2019 5:07 pm
I haven’t turned, I do honestly believe that Morrison came back from his appendix op a couple of weeks too soon which ultimately effected the defensive performance of our squad
Wed Mar 06, 2019 5:14 pm
Supporters are not saying the players are not fit to wear the shirt that is turning on the players.
We question weather they are good enough for the premiership and I believe Morrison was brought back to early but also not good enough for the premiership but is a good championship player as many others sadly but most of them have tried their best
this season all players have poor games and poor form
But to say supporters have turned on the players is unfair we are all know we didn't have the money to spend so we all knew what will happen I still think we have done well its not like Fulham who spent 5 times the amount we spent gone through 2 managers and will still be relegated and their supporters have turned on everyone lol

My dissapointment stemmed from coming straight back into a winning side, not with the man himself, perhaps neil pushed a little too hard,to fit him straight in,not being 100% match fit.

It’s the BBC - and their peculiar take on public opinion.

What a great post, absolutely spot on. Boo boys have always been about they can just make more noise now through social media. To the end for me, back them win lose or draw.

Only seen the occasional clown, the same ones who don’t value any player unless they are beating 5 men and scoring with a bolt of lightning from their backside. I ignore them these days, in the past I wouldn’t. Back to the team and manager and if they go down they go down. They have worked tiresley, the quality isn’t there but can’t fault them. Crazy expectations by some.

I thin more are turning on the manager
Wed Mar 06, 2019 8:38 pm
No. But I do feel the back was changed to bring back in Morrison. I think he should of been eased back in from the bench. But that’s it

Good post and three of the ‘occasional clowns’ have been listed above by nubbsy.

Morrison has been a disaster. But he didn't pick himself. No need to turn on anyone, but sum it up at the end of the season and move on..
Wed Mar 06, 2019 10:15 pm
WOL have been desperate to stir shit up about the club lately. They'll pick up on a few idiots on forums or fb and print a story like it represents the whole fan base.
That's why I dont read papers they are a cancer to society.

About the ratio I would have expected on the poll with supporters generally still behind the club, manager and players
Frustration is clear after the last three results but that is not to take away from the Herculean efforts of all involved this season and last...Board, manager, coaches, players, associated staffs and fans alike!

No 100% behind manager and team if you are not how can you be called a Cardiff city SUPPORTER

Ive been warning for ages about the corrosive effect of constant negativity and jumping on players who made a mistake. In that I've repeatedly spoken of the common willpower and the twelfth man. Well this effect can go two ways.
I'm sorry to say so, but recently this has been too often aimed against our players and I agree with the OP that it's almost certainly broken the players and perhaps the managers commitment to the fans.
To be honest ,I think it's too late to put Humpty Dumpty together again, because it took two years to build that commitment under Sir Neil Warnock and it'll take anyone else a lot longer.
We tend to get what we deserve and often what we wish for in this life, and so it's sadly likely that we'll see an abitious young manager playing attacking football in league one without all those awful players who'll be cherry picked by premiership clubs and ambitious championship sides.
I've never wanted to be wrong more ,and I hope I am, but our only chance now is a spirited fight back by the players we've got, and I can't see any of them wanting to run through walls for people who think so little of them. The only man who could perhaps motivate them can't feel very inspired himself with everyone telling him he doesn't know what he's doing and telling him to go.
