Strong words from Neil Warnock on Victor Camarasa's absence when Cardiff considered him fit to play 10 days ago.

NEIL WARNOCK:

"I've never comes across this situation. He obviously listens to his physios, his medical people and Tom, Dick and Harry from abroad."

"I think if these last two games would have been life or death for us at the end of the season I’d have been disappointed if he hadn’t have played.

"He obviously listens to his physios, medical people and every Tom, Dick and Harry from abroad. There’s nothing we can do about that really. Probably a lot of Premier League players are like that at the minute.

"I thought he was fit 10 days ago. They’ve said they didn’t want him playing for 10 days. That’s up today I think."

NEIL WARNOCK:

How important is it to get Camarasa in the mix?

“He’s a very important player to us. It’s been a really big disappointment if I’m honest. I’ve never come across the situation I’ve got at the moment. We’re having physios and medical people from abroad more or less telling us what we can do with him when he’s our player. It’s very difficult, not just for me but for the medical staff as well. When you see somebody flying around and yet they’re not fit it’s because the scan shows something up, I think it’s down to the player really to know. If you saw Sol Bamba’s scan on his thigh he wouldn’t have played for the last six weeks he probably wouldn’t have played. He’s probably been our best player and he tells me ‘I’m alright gaffer’. I think that shows the make-up of certain players is stronger than others.”

NEIL WARNOCK:

As far as the club is concerned Camarasa is fit?

“We think he’s closer to fitness than what our guys think. That’s just a matter of opinion but you run the risk of , if you make him play and he breaks down, what are they going to say? I think if these last two games would have been life or death for us at the end of the season I’d have been disappointed if he hadn’t have played.”

Are his medical staff in Wales?

“Yes they’re over here. They might be based over there but they come over here and he has treatment with them as well. It’s confusing really!”

Is it down to him?

“Not really. He obviously listens to his physios, medical people and every Tom, Dick and Harry from abroad. There’s nothing we can do about that really. Probably a lot of Premier League players are like that.”

Close to return?

“I thought he was fit 10 days ago. They’ve said they didn’t want him playing for 10 days. That’s up today I think.”

Camasara's staff are probably right. Its was only 5 mins ago that Warnock was saying they had a general problem with players coming back off injury breaking down again and they would have to look at it.Bellamy had his own medical staff which he used to prolong his career.

Cardiff manager Neil Warnock questioned the character of Victor Camarasa as he bemoaned being instructed by ‘physios from abroad’ over the midfielder’s fitness.

Warnock might be frustrated but don't think he should question a professional players character.

Re: "This doesn't sound good"

I don’t like this, if the physios are from Betis then surely; as we don’t own him, it’s our tough shit.

Warnock coming out with this is baffling, he needs to be the one getting on with it, prepping the team and picking his best fit players when they available to him.

Not really an issue, Betis own him so they have every right to want to look after their player. Yes maybe its frustrating but that’s life. Warnock has said similar about Zohore in the past saying he should be back by now and then later retracting it saying it was worst than we thought and that’s why im not a physio.

Bit of a weird one this it would be like us interfering with sheffield united physio's about our concern about gary madine's fitness,or is it coming to the end of the french season and betis want him back in good shape not in a dog fight at the bottom of the prem, its slowly turning into a grujic/zohore sage Imo.

Re: "This doesn't sound good"

Mon Feb 25, 2019 1:25 pm

Camarasa is worth £13m I think it is, so yeah betis have every right to ensure he is fully fit. If Madine was worth that sort of money and Sheffield Utd were trying to rush him back I’d fully expect us to get involved.

He's NOT their player though. Even as loan he is a full Cardiff player.

The only way Betis can have a say is if it's in the loan contract that was signed.

MR POTATO
if we had a player worth 13 million he would not be going out on loan.

Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock opens up on bizarre tug-of-war over Victor Camarasa's fitness ahead of Everton clash

Monday 25th February 2019

Warnock on why he's unhappy with Camarasa's physios

Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock admits he's become increasingly frustrated by the situation around Victor Camarasa's fitness, but has refused to rule him out of tomorrow's clash with Everton.

The Spaniard has been one of City's standout performers this term, but has been restricted to just seven minutes of action since the 3-0 defeat at Newcastle last month.

The Real Betis loanee missed Friday night's hammering at home to Watford with a calf problem, and his absence has come as a big disappointment to Warnock, whose side now sit just one point above the relegation zone and have undoubtedly missed the midfielder's creative spark.

"He’s a very important player to us," he said. "It’s been a really big disappointment if I’m honest. I’ve never come across the situation I’ve got at the moment.

"We’re having physios and medical people from abroad more or less telling us what we can do with him when he’s our player.

"It’s very difficult, not just for me but for the medical staff aswell. When you see somebody flying around and yet they’re not fit it’s because the scan shows something up, I think it’s down to the player really to know."

However, Warnock has refused to rule the Spaniard out of Tuesday night's clash with Everton, who arrive in the Welsh capital for their first competitive fixture since February 9, and do so hoping to end a run of three straight defeats.

Camarasa has been struggling with a calf injury and sat out the thrashing at the hands of Watford

"We think he’s closer to fitness than what our guys think," Warnock added. "That’s just a matter of opinion but you run the risk of, if you make him play and he breaks down, what are they going to say?

"I think if these last two games would have been life or death for us at the end of the season I’d have been disappointed if he hadn’t have played.

I mentioned this last week. Body language after Ken's winning goal, then straight off down the tunnel. There was something after that game - and it sounds like whatever it was - is still there.

He's on loan though remember - so I guess his parent club have a say in his injuries / health etc
Hope that's all it is - and if not then - we'll carry on with what we have .

If we cared enough about Medine to send physios to look over him you would expect Sheffield United to listen to them to be fair. I think quite often players return to their parent clubs for treatment anyway. He will probably start Tuesday but then I guess it didn't help Camarasa playing with a knock a couple of weeks ago.

We'got form bringing players back too soon then catching a cold.

I'm not even sure it's Betis' physios. He's always posting shots on Instagram of his physio work and tags the guy. Looks like a private physio in Valencia.

Maybe Camarasa is just overly cautious about his health and fitness. As he has every right to be seeing as that is the tool of his trade!

What has the French season coming to an end got to do with anything?

Parent club looking after their own players health.

You do wonder whether there's a rift developing.
I hope not but it'd be the latest kick in the knackers by fate.
It'd cause us massive problems but if he's got a long term injury I think that means that we could buy a replacement outside the window .

I get that impression too. His reaction at Southampton was off to say the least.

Shame as he's a quality player.
