“ Would you be happy to lose? “

Wed Feb 06, 2019 4:55 pm

Just the one game in the Premier League tonight.

Everton host Manchester City at 7.45pm. City will go above Liverpool on goal difference to the top of the league if they win tonight, albeit having played a game more.

My question is would you be happy for Cardiff City to lose a game, if it helped to stop Swansea City winning the league?

For me it’s a NO, could never wish on us to lose a match - whatever the circumstances.

Dunno. Lots of its and buts. If it was against a 'nothing' rival, was just the one game and we were well safe from relegation. I don't think I'd be too pissed off.

I would take great pleasure in seeing them f**k up. I'm loving seeing Liverpool do it again. I can only think what an Everton fan is feeling seeing them flunk.

I've no idea what sort of a sick twisted mind you'd need to consider such a question.
I hope the best team wins each and any league ,whether it's Swansea or anyone else.

Never happy to see us lose whatever the circumstances.

Let's put myself into an Everton's fans place tonight ....

Why would they want to lose when their is still a long way to go and points to play for ?

If it was the last day of the season and we were safe and by us losing then it would stop Swansea or Bristol City winning the League then I wouldn't exactly be gutted about us losing I won't lie.

I asked a Man Utd fan the other day who he'd rather win the title- Liverpool or Man City?

He said Tottenham

No from me. I can't envisage a situation where I'd want my team to lose to aid the Jack's. If they were in a position to succeed or to fail, I wouldn't want any fingers pointed and we should just loom after ourselves

This subject has been highlighted by Adrian Durham on Talk Sport and seems to be his 'Stir of the Day'

Nope I want to win every game could care less what Swansea do.

Yes,as long as we had nothing to play for (already down or already safe).
Hate the Jacks.

What does that mean then ?
Just a bit of abuse is it ?

No. If this question is a joke then fair enough. If it’s even remotely serious then the poster and some of the ‘yes’ recommenters need to get a life

Of course..if we lost to the eventual winner, then they would be the best team in that League. Swansea would be second best on merit.

I see youre confidence is growing, can't sit in the Canton due to you're 'confidence issues' but happy to abuse people on the internet. Good One.

As it’s been pointed out by RV, you clearly have no self-confidence issues anymore if you’re happy to insult posters on here.

Sky Sports News, BBC, ITV, NBC, FOX and many other media companies have also asked the same question - clearly they all need to get a life as well.

This is a perfectly fair question.

I lived in Rome for some years. At the end of the 2009/10 season, (if I remember correctly), the Serie A title went into the last two games. Roma were a point ahead, so it was in their own hands. The celebrations had already started in parts of the city. Then they unexpectedly lost at home to Sampdoria, (late in the game, after being ahead), who were going for a Champions' League place. Inter won their game, so now it was back in their hands. Last but one game Inter were playing Lazio in the Olimpico. There is a twinning arrangement between the Inter and Lazio ultras, (political). Lazio were under great pressure from their own fans to lose the game. They had been on a decent run, but Inter won 2-0. The Roman establishment, who all seem to support AS Roma, were furious. Questions were asked in parliament. Nothing could be proved, but nobody was surprised. The Lazio fans had banners saying, (translated), 'oh nooooooo, what's happened?'. Different world, I know, and a much bigger rivalry than us and Swansea, (same city), but not out of the question here. My second club is SS Lazio, and I was as happy as anyone else that AS Roma had not won the Scudetto.

To answer the OP, I'm not sure. If it ever arose, I'd have to go with my gut instinct at the time. The Italian in me would probably say 'yes'!

Thanks for that, really interesting story :thumbright:

Aware of the huge rivalry between those two, so can imagine how intense the emotions were.

I didn't of course. You POSED an hypothetical , ( question if you like), and I said that someone would be be twisted to CONSIDER , or CONTEMPLATE the implied conclusion of the hypothetical.
In other words, since you simply asked the question, my comment obviously didn't refer to you .

I don't know what these "confidence issues" are Savigma, and I don't mean to pry, but remember that you're as good as any other bugger, and don't let anyone try to bully you.

He should be told himself not to bully people, seeing as he’s telling others to “get a life.”

One game if nothing was in it for us like religation/play off play etc etc. Then 100% yes

If we were in Evertons position then 100% yes.

Imagine those winning the league..

Give you're head a shake will you.

You can't go round claiming you have low confidence issues then go round telling others to 'get a life' cos they have a different viewpoint to you.

That's not going to make you more confident, gain friends and be more outgoing, it's going to make you look stupid and push people away thus making you feeling even more insecure and confident.

I'm trying to help the boy. Ill await your apology for the 'bully' comment with baited breath.
