Steve Zodiak wrote:This is getting sillier by the day. We are talking about someone that virtually nobody on this forum has ever set eyes on, and a player who has never made an appearance for Cardiff. Brian Clark died 8 years or so back. Over 200 appearances for us, probably the scorer of the most famous goal in club history apart from our 1927 FA Cup final goal, and was a regular at Ninian Park for many years after he finished playing. He may not have died in a plane crash, nor was he as young as Sala. He still died far too early, and I'm sure his family considered it to be a tragic loss. I have never heard people suggest a Brian Clark stand, or a friendly against Bristol City, another club for whom he made many appearances.
Is'nt it time to move on now and let his family do the grieving. I can understand how Nantes supporters must feel as well. They saw him play and I am sure many of them had met him personally. He was playing for them virtually right up until his death. I expect most fans posting on here have seen a photo of him, or a bit on youtube, and nothing more. I can't help feeling some people are taking things a bit too far.

Forgetting about this latest mental virtue signalling thing though, I've often wondered why we don't raise money by looking for naming sponsorship on stands and the ground itself. Surely this would buy a few players.
If it had still been called Ninian Park then I'd never ever sell that out, but the present name is a bit crap and meaningless anyway. I'm thinking that they must originally have gotten a few bob from Captain Morgan Rum because I expect everyone remembers that logo on the corrugated roof gradually fading over the years.
