It's the morning after transfer deadline day...
And although there was no late drama for Cardiff City, they did get a deal done in the shape of Leandro Bacuna from Reading.
Neil Warnock will surely talk about that deal in his press conference today, and react to the window as a whole.
Curaçao international Leandro Bacuna has joined the Bluebirds from Reading for an undisclosed fee.
The 27-year-old has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal that will run until the summer of 2023.

Transfer business? Deadline Day?“Overall, that’s probably as good a window as we expected with the targets we achieved and the circumstances. We could probably have done with another one but we weren’t going to have a gun put to our head. For one lad abroad the sort of finances were talking, you’d thought the lad was playing for his country regularly. We had to pull the plug on a couple of deals.”

Were any more deals close?
“One of them possibly was, but the terms changed every other day and it was astronomical in the end. Whether they were pushing on our circumstances, I don’t know. I spoke to Mehmet and Ken and we weren’t going to have a gun put to our head?
“We managed to get Bacuna over the line, a lad who I’ve liked for a long time and he’s played in the Premier League with Villa.”
Fri Feb 01, 2019 12:06 pm
Bacuna's position?“Wherever the need is, I’ve seen him right back, left back, centre midfield or right wing. We need one or two people like him and Paterson who can help out in numerous positions.”

Think other clubs knew Cardiff’s circumstances?
“It just came down to personal terms and agents fees and they weren’t what we expected. And even now I don’t think we should jeopardise what we’ve got in the dressing room with greed. Mehmet and Ken tried their hardest but I didn’t want to do it.”
Fri Feb 01, 2019 12:08 pm
Heart in it?
“Yeah, I was determined to get Bacuna over the line. It’s so difficult on deadline day and it’s difficult with us being in Wales, with getting permission and this and that. Something came up late last night but it was impossible to get things done.”
Fri Feb 01, 2019 12:09 pm
Prospects now?
“We’ve always thought it was a battle, we did well the other night and should have got one or maybe even three points. We’ve got to cut out silly mistakes and score more goals, otherwise we’ll be back in the Championship. I’d like us to get our opportunities, it’d be nice to be in front and put teams under pressure.”
Fri Feb 01, 2019 12:20 pm
Newcastle breaking record? Palace making a big signing...
“We broke our transfer record, so I couldn’t ask any more from Vincent or Mehmet and we worked really hard from that. But we’ve got to work hard now. I got Oumar and Bacuna and I probably wanted three transfers, but we’ve got to get over that and show we’re not a spent force. The lads have got to stand up. No Harry Arter tomorrow, one or two little niggles so it’ll be interesting what team we play tomorrow.”
Fri Feb 01, 2019 12:20 pm
Energy maintained?
“If you’d been at the match the other night, you couldn’t deny it’s one of the best performances I’ve seen from my side. Their manager said we deserved to win the game. We’ve made elementary errors against Spurs and Man United at home and we’re now playing a team who are flying after beating Chelsea, but we’ve got to give ourselves a chance.”

Looking at what he saying and other clubs have done and what's been said it looks like clubs will not be held to ransom in jan window anymore! Spending lowest for 7yrs cost of rushing and making mistakes are to high.

Shame it wasn’t done but it is what it is, can’t fault him for his honesty about the international clearance being a stumbling block for us on deadline day especially when it comes to signing English players

On Bournemouth“It’s a good challenge. They’ve done what we’d like to do over the next four or five years. They’ve invested heavily, took the lad Brooks from my old club Sheffield United. I looked at signing Lerma for £5m and they ended up signing him for £25m. They’ve done really well, Eddie is a nice guy, I was pleased when he went back to Bournemouth.”

Emotional day? Tributes?“I don’t quite know what’s happening, with the weather and transfer deadline. Whatever the families want or think, we’ll adhere to that.
“The other night, I was really proud. I’ve probably never been as disappointed to never get anything out of the game.”

Something to prove?
“Yes, crikey. I’ve done that all my career and I thought it’d be a great accolade to stay in the division and with all the circumstances, it would be now. We’re in the Premier League, it’s not all about money, it’s all about trying to move mountains with a group of lads. We keep bouncing back after knocks, whether it’s good enough, who knows? It won’t be for the lack of trying.”
Fri Feb 01, 2019 12:24 pm
Recuperating? Need rest?
“I slept the best I’ve slept last night… must have been the end of the transfer window!”
Fri Feb 01, 2019 12:24 pm
Team needs more goals?
“We’ve got to score goals and our attacking players have got to take chances and perform like we know they can. And at the back we’ve got to be professional. Bruno knows he was wrong for the first Arsenal goal and then I thought Neil Etheridge could have stopped the second.”
Fri Feb 01, 2019 12:25 pm
On Bacuna
“I’ve had a chat with him about his hair. But otherwise I know what he can do. Good passer, great athlete and someone I know I can have alongside him in the trenches. I think he can become a fans favourite in the next few years.”
Fri Feb 01, 2019 12:25 pm
Circumstances affect recruitment?
“One or two of the strikers we talked with didn’t really want to come in, in the circumstances. I was pleased with Bacuna, that was a bonus. I should have probably got all three of my targets, but I got two of the three. The numbers of players that we looked at, we’ve got to try and improve the backroom staff to have more people working on that function. We’ve got two or three IT lads who have been brilliant in that respect. You’ve got to look at all the targets and it’s been so time consuming.
“We might have had two more signings, but we’ve got to concentrate on the job in hand. People will write us off, but we’ve got to regroup and do what we’ve done before.”
Fri Feb 01, 2019 12:28 pm
Glad you played v Arsenal after all?“I didn’t feel as though any game in that moment in time was worth playing. But these things can’t go on indefinitely and it did feel good to shout at the fourth official in the first five minutes.”

More chances than any other away game - encouraging?
“Unfortunately, that doesn’t get you any points. I know the lads who missed the chances would have scored them 9 times out of 10. We’ve got to keep plugging away, give it our best shot and create chances through good, aggressive football. I’ve got to try and be positive in my team selection.”

On Zohore“He’s been instrumental in me not bringing anybody on. I’m his biggest critic and his biggest fan. I’ve seen his determination and it’s really down to him now. He’s got a part to play and I think he can have a go.”

Next few games present a big chance?“I’d like to think we can keep a few lads fit. Harry isn’t available, Victor has been struggling, Murphy has been struggling, so we’ve got to get these lads firing.”

Bobby Reid?“I don’t know what you can say. He’s in great positions and you don’t miss them on purpose. Paterson had a couple as well. But at least we’re creating chances… 19 shots on goal at the Emirates takes some doing.”

Danny Williams from Haverfordwest?“He’s done ever so well, and we’re looking at lads to supplement the Under-23s and it’s nice for him to come from a Welsh club.”

Manga’s foul was a poor decision and etheridge doesn’t quite get enough of a toe on the 2nd but I am not surprised at the lack of mention for bamba Being easily dispossessed and putting his team in trouble! I know he likes certain players but surely there is criticism there especially when he has told bamba not to over play before.

On (Bournemouth's) David Brooks“He’s probably the best young player in the league and he’s got that little bit about him, that Giggs thing, and I’m sure Eddie will be pleased with how he’s performed. I think he’ll be in the top European bracket in the next three or four years. He’s a sensible lad and he’ll go right up to the top.”

Neil Warnock seems to think Kenneth Zohore os chomping at the bit!
After recent 'digs' from both sides, I hope we will see a 'new' Kenneth Zohore getting back to his best and regaining the faith of both manager and supporters

Thankfully this time he hasn't been rushed back and for the first time this season we may see a full fit Zohore. If so im very confident he can make an impact
