“Claude Puel ungracious in defeat.”

Sun Dec 30, 2018 1:41 pm

Leicester City manager Claude Puel said "a lot of players were tired" as they slipped to a disappointing home defeat against Cardiff City.

The Foxes had beaten Chelsea and champions Manchester City in their previous two matches, and Puel said it was "normal" that his side should be feeling the effects "in this busy period."

“Claude Puel” after game comments were totally ungracious in his team’s defeat.

Cardiff City were unbelievable yesterday they played with heart and conviction and stand out performances for me were

Neil Etherridge,an outstanding penalty save, he’s now saved 3 out of his 5 penalty saves this season, plus his other incredible saves in the game.Harry Arter was solid, and Cameresa’s amazing strike in injury time put the icing on the cake for me,but time after time Sol Bamba put his body on the line, and that penalty tackle and clearance made Sol Bamba - man of the match for me.

Claude Puel is reportedly clinging to his job at the moment, so he needs as many excuses as he can after a somewhat 'shock' defeat to the team so many had written off as no-hopers...Cardiff City FC :D

Arguably, Puel's biggest game error was to take off Jamie Vardy, as some players can have an impact when you least expect it even when not playing well...in this case the penalty opportunity

Must have come as a shock to Puel and his Leicester team but (thankfully) Cardiff's game plan worked out and we cam away with three valuable points more than Leicester did!

Happy days...! :thumbright: :ayatollah: :bluebird: :bluescarf:

Sven, arguably you would have thought that after Leicester beating Chelsea and Manchester City in a run of two games Claude Puel’s job would be safe, and they would have been jeered up to beat Cardiff,my opinion is that they showed us no respect and Cardiff took the game to Leicester, I thought it was our best win of the Season again we showed guts and steel to take a well deserved 3 points. :ayatollah: :bluescarf:

Well if his players were any more tired than Cardiff City, he's saying that they're less fit ,and I'd have thought that was his rssponsibility.

Yes, you would. I understand that Puel's Job was being discussed before the ManUre game after some senior players complained about his training and tactics but (as is football) the win against the Red Devil's made them think they were maybe better than they were, so it all went quiet...until yesterday when they came up against the very grounded Bluebirds and he had to start with the excuses again! ;) :laughing6:

Tired players due to a lot of games is a sad and pathetic excuse, we play the same amount of games

Sven
I think you’ll find Leicester played Man Utd in August 2018 and lost 2-1,
Leicester beat Man City on December 26th Boxing Day 2018.
We are talking present and not past.

I hate him

Re: “Claude Puel ungracious in defeat.”

Sun Dec 30, 2018 5:59 pm

I don't see it like that tbh.

Can't see anything in his comments that make him ungracious?

He's there to defend his team and himself at the end of the day not big us up?

To make the excuse of his team being too tired is quite frankly a lame excuse, all teams have grueling games over the Christmas period, Cardiff had the better of Leicester on the day and he should have been adult enough to say it! Warnock have owned up plenty of times when the other side has been better on the day than us.

What a fanny.

Two home games for Leicester on Boxing Day and yesterday.

No travelling, plenty of time with their families and able to sleep in their own beds.

Two away games for our team in the same few days including the longest distance away trip of any Premier League team on Boxing Day.

Being tired is no excuse - that's why you have a squad of 25 players who theoretically should be of a similar standard.

But that's his prerogative, he's not slagging us off or being ungracious, he's protecting himself and his players. They also had a League Cup Semi Final to play and played 2 of the best teams in the division and beat them prior to playing us.

If he feels that took a lot out of his players then maybe it did, maybe it didn't. Either way nothing he's said is ungracious towards us unless iv missed it.

Have to agree to disagree on this one.

He could have been more gracious, and give some praise to Cardiff, he chose to use a lame accuse it clearly hasn’t gone down well, I’m glad we have a manager that is more gracious and more professional.

What like against Watford when he went in on the Ref and Deeney to take the heat of his players poor overall performance.

Managers don't big up other teams. Its the way it is. Honestly feels like people are just searching for things to moan about sometimes.

Big up Cardiff for yesterdays result.
As a Leicester fan I will never forget the way Cardiff and its supporters respected our club that horrendous week when we lost our owner.
Whilst always a Leicester supporter, it was one day I could take it in the chin. Good luck to Cardiff for the rest of the campaign, I hope we can lock horns in a premier league fixture next year.

One thing Warnock does, he tells’s it has it is, if we play bad, he says it, he doesn’t make excuses like “We were too tired” Of course Claude Puel made a mistake in saying this and wasn’t gracious enough to applaud how well Cardiff played.
Warnock have said this season about teams outplaying us. Fact ! That’s gracious and honest that what’s Warnock is about !

Haven’t we played the same amount of games ? Roughly at the same time. Yes Leicester fans not really happy with him, so I think those were words under pressure.
Glad we ain’t putting the same pressure on Warnock and the Lads :bluebird:

Maybe, but if we had beaten Chelsea and Man City back to back, would we be on Warnock’s back ? We would be ecstatic,I just think he could have used a bit more humility, I’m not into making excuses for other managers of other clubs,or defending other managers. I’m glad we have a manager like Warnock that is not afraid to say it as it is.

which has included using tiredness as a reason after a defeat..
these ideas that our manager is always gracious and that everyone will be ecstatic should we lose to a club below us providing we have previously beaten one above us is just not true..there will be people on here questioning him.

I never get this excuse. All teams play the same number of games over the festive period. If Puel didn't rotate then that is bad management.

At the end of the day Puel is addressing the Leicester support not Cardiff's. Managers have no commitment to praise the other team and quite rightly they think of their own vested interests first.

If we want to hear how well we played then I'm sure Neil Warnock will oblige :ayatollah:

He’s right they probably were a lot more tired then us.

They just beaten Chelsea and Man City they’d of had to of run there arses off to get those results.

I don’t see why people are taking it as a negative and getting offended.

I really do not understand those that refuse to accept this tbh..everyone within the game including real old school managers like our own who probably at one point dismissed it have taken it on board..yet otherwise sensible people think the whole sporting world is lying to them ?

and yes all games are not the same or equal .

I agree with you both as you can see from my initial replies, I realy didn't get this thread, we won our first game away from home and people are moaning cos the opposition manager didn't big us up, the mind boggles.
