It must feel so disappointing to Cardiff City fans, looking forward to consolidate our season back in top flight football,It’s a beginning to look like the repeat of the summer. Warnock already talking about loan signings before transfer signings.
Deals falling through, Warnock not being backed by a non ambitious board, It also feels like the board are resigned to the fact with relegation and take the parachute payments.
Warnock has to be backed by the board and Tan we know he’s good enough to keep us in the Premiership.
Message to the board and Tan.

Would you trust him with another 30 million, I wouldn’t

"It must feel so disappointing to Cardiff City fans..."For who?
Surely you're speaking for yourself, too...always assuming you are a Cardiff City supporter?
Give it a chance, fella. We haven't even started the transfer window and already you've written the club off!
Neil Warnock talks to the Press about a lot of things and often in cryptic ways. If you genuinely think for one second he is giving away his targets/plans/budget in advance, then you are being pretty naive!
How do you
know he isn't being 'backed' by the Board?
How do you
know the club (nee owner) are
"unambitious" and
"happy" to take relegation and the parachute payments that brings?
And what is the "Premiership"? Isn't that a Rugby League thing from up t'north?
You may be proved right in the end; and I guess you can come on and say a smug
"I told you so!" Merry Christmas...or Happy Bah Humbug, if you prefer!

Another way to look at it is the board are making sure that the wage bill and new signings budgets are sustainable going forward should the worst happen and we do get relegated. That wasn't the case last time around and it set us back 3 years whilst the damage done by MM & OGS was undone.
It may be we become a yo-yo club whilst the foundations are put in place to make us an established PL club and, in my opinion, most Bluebird fans would see that as real ambition by the board.
Just another take on things. Merry Christmas.

Spot on, in most of our games we look like a championship club punching above our weight in the Premier League ...... trying to build up the quality of the squad and do it within our means is a sensible approach

Why should Tan trust Warnock with money when £20/£30 million spent in the summer is on the bench every single week.
Tue Dec 25, 2018 11:21 am
For god sake. We've been making massive loses for years. Why turn this season into a potential loss and all? We've spent 30M. I wouldnt be surprised to see us spend 20-30 this time round and all. The window ain't even open and people are in melt down
Tue Dec 25, 2018 11:42 am
They’ve already stated that they have learned from last time, they have taken the Burnley approach and are laying the foundations for the future, so yes I see us yo-yo ing for the next couple of seasons the way Burnley did at one point, the importance is to lay the foundations and build from there, if you want a club that can spend like Man City, Man Utd or Chelsea then go support one of them, look at the stick Chelsea got when Ambrambovich took over, it was said they bought the title that 1st year, same as Man City. If you want a massive cash injection go have a word with a Saudi Prince and ask him to buy our club, if not get on board with what we have and back the manager and board, they have put things in place this year and I’m confident that the things they’re doing will help our club long term
Merry Christmas to you all

I agree, let’s lay solid foundations for if we do go down first, if we stay up then great. No point in blowing another 30 million as it guarantees nothing. A decent striker on loan might be an option, but at least Murphy, Reid and even madine can rip up the championship next season. They all retain their value bar madine too. It took us years to recover last time from woeful signings, we have a stronger squad now than when we came up last season so let’s just hope it can be done again, if need.

So i guess a 25mill bid for Bas Dost and staying in the premier league is out of the question then..
Also read the other day Dalman an Tan didn’t share philosophy in transfers, or do I remember that one wrong?

So glad I can call myself a loyal supporter. Say no more.

Lack of investment leads to poverty and failure.
If Warnock's transfer record is sketchy, when money is spent, then questions must be asked of the whole Club structure over the post-Malky period. Our transfer business during that time-frame has left much to be desired.

Watching that Netflix series “Sunderland till I die”. Wow, did they drop a bucket not investing. Not that I think we would plumber down the leagues, but interesting watch that one.

Balance the books and reduce the debt. nothing wrong with that. Vinnie is a business man first and last. While I like the Prem with it's overpaid nonces I don't mind the Championship where anyone can beat anyone on their day and without suffering stupid kickoff times as well. If we yoyo for a few seasons until we are on a solid financial foundation I don't mind. Onwards and upwards.
Tue Dec 25, 2018 1:42 pm
Yep they sure did and look at them now strongest team in league!
Tue Dec 25, 2018 3:51 pm
Sven,
I’m not naive and obviously I don’t agree with you and I’ve supported the club for nearly 50 years, I was delighted when Cardiff City got up to the top flight again. Their has been sensible posts on here and investing to progress is the most sensible one,
yo - yo ing back and for is not what I want, we are a big City with a large fan base, we deserve Premier league football. We failed in the Summer to find a striker and didn’t spend our full transfer money. To have sell out attendences is obviously good for revenue too, we need more quality in our side,Warnock have already said this himself, he needs Tan to back him in January

if that were the case the championship would be full of clubs that were relegated { failure }purely because they invested the least.who would also be the same clubs who have had massive debt problems { poverty}.
I think if you research this the opposite is true

I'm with clubfortyfourer
I don't want us in financial peril but this is our big chance
United club throughout.
Would love 10 seasons in the big league
Fuckin hate all the Welsh our catchment, suporting English premier league clubs.
Would be nice for us to be seen as a bigger club
And not a yo yo fraud club with no ambition and always working with the scraps.
Capital city should have a capital club

There's an age old saying ..... "You have to speculate to accumulate". Or in biblical terms ... " As ye sow, so shall ye reap". These adages are no less pertinent in the Premier as in any other walks of life.

There's two old adages which are no less pertinent in the Premier than any other walk of life: "As ye sow, so shall ye reap" and "You have to speculate to accumulate". There's no guarantee well ever see the Premier again if we get relegated. Sometimes you just need the cajones to seize opportunities when they come along.

Does'nt matter want we want the club to do. It is Tan's money that has been pumped into the club to ensure we have a club to follow, and the reason we are playing to full houses in the PL instead of a couple of thousand in the bottom leagues. We are not due before the courts anytime soon for non payment of tax, which is because Tan was persuaded to come and bail us out.
He has set out his objectives quite clearly for those prepared to listen. He told us all that when his time is done here, he would like the club to be debt free and running within it's means. Not sure why so many people tend to forget that he has told us what his intentions are, and seems a lot of people criticising his lack of investment have short memories when you consider how much he has already invested, some of which was to rescue us from the threat of administration and possibly worse.
I am the same as everyone else. I would love us to have an owner who is prepared to gamble an absolute fortune in an attempt to give us PL football for years to come. Unfortunately, Tan has said he is not that person, and like it or not, that is where we are until someone who is prepared to take a big gamble with a football club come in and makes him an offer.

Some miserable posters on here and they all seem to know something that I or others don't know.
I will keep the faith until the end and feel we will survive as there are 3 or 4 clubs worse than City

its an absolutely crazy division at the moment and difficult to know whether to stick or twist tbh..its so easy to say things like speculate to accumulate but so many transfers just do not come off. here Warnock takes stick over his signings.yet you only have to look down the road to see how much worse it could be..12mill for Bony, 15 mill for Baston, 18 mill getting Ayew back..and that's just the strikers...then you have Stoke buying Berahino, and Everton signing Niasse who is awful and that's without giving it too much thought.
its crystal clear we need more quality but so so difficult to find it..most of those players would be exciting signings for us { if you took the Swansea conection out of it }..and in a months time they might become more Warnock mistakes by the very same excited people..? go figure...

Funny how people say "the club nearly went to the wall".all these crisis clubs plummet rally regardless of enormous debts then rise again Portsmouth Leeds and Luton being recent examples.

IT is. The money thrown arround is absolutely crazy, and is by a long shot guaranteed success. But we where lucky enough to get a healthy cash injection, and we have a very healthy wage structure. I for one is not happy to throw an opportunity like this away. We desperately need a striker and a right back of good quality, and we are in this with a shout now. Despite Warnock’s willingness to play his signings. And that is another thing. Our “style” of play is costly, isn’t it? Fatigue, injuries and suspensions. Squad depth isn’t what it should be either. But I can see it’s difficult finding the right players, sure.

I think your point is that football clubs in the long run do tend to survive and recover ...which does not change the fact that both Sunderland { the post I was commenting on } along with those you mention plus quite a few more did not suffer because of a reluctance to invest...it was the exact opposite..
do I want us in receivership, huge points deductions, successive relegations and possibly non league football { Luton } no thanks..
