How are you doing with injuries?

Neil Warnock:

We're not doing so good at the moment. Without going into names, we've got three or four niggles that we could have done without really at this stage.

Having said that, I think if we'd have got beat 5-1 and I was in the team I might think I'd have a little niggle for Palace and Leicester!




Crystal Palace team latest:

Palace will be without Belgium international, Christian Benteke for the Boxing Day clash. The 28 year old forward is expected to return to full fitness, following a knee injury, in the new year.

Meanwhile, Wayne Hennessey, Martin Kelly and Cheikhou Kouyaté are also doubts for the Eagles.

About Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace Football Club is a professional football club based in Selhurst, London, that plays in the Premier League, the top flight of English football. They were founded in 1905 at the famous Crystal Palace Exhibition building and played their home games at the FA Cup Final stadium situated inside the historic Palace grounds. The club were forced to leave the Palace in 1915 due to the outbreak of the First World War, and played at Herne Hill Velodrome and the Nest until 1924, when they moved to their current home at Selhurst Park.

Palace have had several periods in the top flight of English football. They enjoyed a successful period in the late 1980s and early 1990s, during which they challenged for the English league title in the 1990–91 season, eventually finishing in third place in the top flight, their highest league position to date. The club's traditional kit colours were originally claret and blue, but in 1973 they decided to change to the red and blue vertical stripes now worn today. Palace have a fierce rivalry with Brighton & Hove Albion, with whom they contest the M23 derby and also share rivalries with fellow South London clubs Millwall and Charlton Athletic.

Can't see anything for us if I'm honest

Take off the blinkers and let's start to get real. Crystal palace win all day long. We are toothless.

Wish you were right but can't seeing it happen. We seem to defensive away, don't understand why we can't just go for it or atleast try different formations and tactics away from home. Especially against the top teams where we don't expect to win. Nowt wrong with trial and error.

I’d be a bit shocked if Ken doesn’t start next game Warnock seems happy with him after his half an hour on Sat and if Zohore is firing on all cylinders we have a chance.

I’d be a bit shocked if Ken doesn’t start next game Warnock seems happy with him after his half an hour on Sat and if Zohore is firing on all cylinders we have a chance.

Agree now is time to start him not give him 15min cameo appearance as NW who will say getting him Up to speed or something like it?

I think they will come back down to earth after the Man City win and be a bit too confident.

We will score early then try to hold on finally giving in to constant pressure late on.

Me and my dad is watching Palce again now. Looks like we will be running alright. Hope we score a few to. But I fear it’s one of them Zahore and Reid all alone again..

Good feeling about this. Everyone is talking about their win at Manchester and our capitulation, I just think we’ll have a positive reaction and maybe bring them back down a peg or two.

I do too, but it's just the reality atm. No away win all season and a dreadfully weak attack. People are finally seeing how poor we really are in this league. I still think we will finish bottom come the end of the season.

you said we looked tired i agree we don't rotate the starting 11 enough i would give patters holliet and murphy a break, and bring in lang reid and zahore.

Boxing day over the last 10 years has generally been very disappointing. Only won twice in this period. But if you want an omen, the last team we beat on boxing day was Crystal Palace. Hoping for a draw 2 v 2 but head says home win comfortably.

Former England manager, Roy Hodgson joined Crystal Palace in September 2017, following the departure of Frank De Boer. Born in Croydon, Hodgson guided his home-town team to an 11th place finish last campaign, with the side having being bottom before his arrival.

Before joining the Eagles, Hodgson managed 15 other clubs along with four international sides. The 71 year old notably took charge of clubs such as Inter Milan, Liverpool, Fulham and West Bromwich Albion. He also guided the English national team to three major tournaments during a four year spell from 2012.

Cardiff City 2-1 Crystal Palace – 26th December 2012

The Bluebirds entertained the Eagles for a Boxing Day clash during our Championship title winning season of 2012/13. Against the fellow automatic promotion contenders, a determined Cardiff City side earned all three points to claim 11 wins from 12 league home matches, so far that campaign.

It wasn’t an easy start for the hosts though as they trailed after just four minutes. From a corner, Australian international Mile Jedinak put the lively visitors ahead. Winger Wilfried Zaha almost extended the lead when his curling effort smashed against the woodwork from range, with Glenn Murray striking the far post from the rebound.

However City pushed for an equaliser and were rewarded just before the interval as Craig Bellamy set up Craig Noone to emphatically curl home from the edge of the area.

The second half was a reversal of the first with the home side firmly in the driving seat. Persistence from the Bluebirds led to an Aron Gunnarsson winner, with 17 minutes remaining. The Icelandic captain headed home via the crossbar from a pinpoint Bellamy corner to make it 2-1. That recorded City's 16th win of the season, extended a five-point lead at the summit of the table.







Playing connections



A number of players have represented both Cardiff City and Crystal Palace in recent years, including Palace's Zaha. The 26 year old joined Cardiff City on loan from Manchester United on January 2014; making 13 appearances. This followed a £15 million move to Old Trafford from the Eagles the previous campaign. The Ivorian however, permanently re-joined Palace on February 2015. So far this season, the number 11 has tallied three goals in 15 appearances.

Joe Ledley is another name to feature for both sides. The Welsh international began his career in South Wales in 2004 and scored 36 goals in 226 appearances up until 2010.

Following three and a half seasons with Celtic, Ledley joined the Eagles in January 2014. Across four seasons he helped to keep Palace in the top-flight, also netting six goals in 97 games.

From September 2000, Defender Danny Gabbidon made exactly 200 league appearances for City before signing for West Ham United in July 2005. In 2012, Gabbidon joined Palace, following six years with the Hammers and one season at Queens Park Rangers.

The centre-half helped guide Palace to Championship promotion and safety in the Premier League after two seasons at the club. Gabbidon then re-joined City in 2014 and acted as an interim manager from September 2014 before Russell Slade’s appointment the following month.

The likes of Cameron Jerome, Darcy Blake, Jordon Mutch and Marouane Chamakh have also plied their trade for both sides.
