Think he may even surpass him. For a max of 3.5m it’s a very good deal

Agreed, that's a hell of a deal and QPR must be sick at that price![]()

We're normally on the receiving end of such a steal so nice to turn the tables

QPR will receive a guaranteed £3m for the goalkeeper, with an extra £500k if Cardiff retain their Premier League status.
FANTASTIC value for money !

We now have 2 very good keepers who will push each other and naturally work off each other, but we have to start with etheridge who thoroughly deserves his place

I don't understand the Etheridge hate either...
For me, Etheridge is number one until he makes a mistake.

I’ve heard zero hate for Etheridge on this forum!??
For me, I think it’s great that we have two decent keepers competing for the number one spot. Warnock will decide who starts after the pre-season training and friendlies. Nobody has a given right to start.

I find that people get nervous with Etheridge in goal but for me, He's better than Marshall was.
I'm very happy with the Smithies signing and either in goal would fill me with confidence

Woah now you're going too strong again...I don't think Etheridge is anyway near Marshall in his prime ! But Yes, good to have 2 solid keepers. First time we've had that since Marshall & Heaton

Etheridge last season for me was one of the reasons we went up, he started off shaky but that is understandable as he moved up the divisions, however with the coaching he was receiving as the season went on and on he got better and better and better and it instilled huge confidence in the back four. You ask any defender, when you have a good keeper behind you it makes your job a little bit easier.
His kicking improved massively and for me he is one of the quickest keepers in the league off his line, he is brave and has reflex reactions and produced some key saves to save games for us, and i really hope NW keeps him as the No 1.
We do have a quality back up now in Smithies and i would imagine Camp and Murphy (who i feel has been unluckly as when he was brought into the team performed superb) will move on freeing up extra wages and reducing the squad numbers.
Welcome to City Alex, great he did the Ayatollah too
