Should draw a line under the whole thing.

Clearly a bad decision but he's continued to support the club even after attendances dropped way off. Clearly got it right in the end. Yesterday was 100 times better than the last time :ayatollah:

Re: MUST WATCH - VT on next season & Apology for rebrand

Definitely goes a long way with me.

It would have been better if he came out with this statement at the beginning of the return to blue instead of waiting for when all things wonderful but I guess that is life.

Bellamy made it clear after yesterdays full time interview that things this time are a lot more right than last time. He was brave enough to include the red in there that caused friction. He is the first person employed by the club to come out with that so all credit to him there. At that time I felt there was some form of acceptance that it was all a mistake about to come out from Tan.

For me this is the start of a slow forgiveness. Time is a great healer but I'm sure it will happen. Some will forgive overnight while others will need that time. That's life but it is a start.

I actually thought it was an "easy" apology to make when all things were great but I then started to wonder what the benefit would be saying it now.

We are up, the club's profile is raised and the money will roll in. He did not have to say it now.

I could understand if he had come out and said it when he was losing money hand over fist, which he has been.

For me the hatred has well and truly gone. But understand that many will need a lot more time for it to disappear completely, if ever.

Cheers Gav, was just about to post this.

It takes a big man to admit a mistake, especially when it could be perceived as loss of face, so hats off to VT.

I honestly think that we are on a solid footing as a club with an owner who has not only learned the hard way but has also persevered in getting things to as they should have been from the off.

We all make mistakes, but if you learn from it, it's the most valuable lesson.

That's a massive statement from VT and I hope we see more of him at the CCS and aways next season.

The reaction he got from the fans this time compared to last time I would say really hit home with him.

Before yesterday he would have known of the discord he had with quite a number of fans. Then next thing he is swamped with those who have already forgiven him. Without doubt that would have given him the confidence or should I say will to come out with the statement.

however you look at it all it was still a brave thing to do.

Like I’ve said before, worst business decision he’s ever made. It’s long in the past now, let’s move on and try and enjoy the ups and downs of the Premier League.

Great interview admitted the mistake and apologised, also appointed the right Manager and will try and work within sensible budgets while supporting the Manager, well done VT.

Not long ago Swansea were laughing at us and saying how big nose would never sell becuase the trust wouldn't let him, ha ha how the times are changing :laughing6:

Just want to raise a point being made on CCMB.

Now I haven't been on there for many, many years but I was aware that there were a few on there who would NEVER forgive Tan and NEVER return to the ground.

Just went over to see how they are celebrating and there is a similar thread to this with a few saying that there is NO apology in Tan's statement.

Is this pedantry or do they have a point. Is the acceptance of his mistake enough or do we need him on his knees pleading.

If you step back and look through the bad decision that was made, And look how the club has been transformed since his arrival, it puts things in perspective.

The ground sharing, the winding up orders, the ball and chain that was the langston debt....

Tan has transformed this club into a top flight outfit and done wonders, if he hadn't rebranded the club he would go down as one of the best owners in football.

The the rebrand behind us, embrace his apology and recognition of what he admits was a mistake, and move forward as one.

TBH I believe there are some fans who believe the whole issue is more about THEM than the welfare of CCFC. I hated the rebrand but went with it because it was the best for CCFC at that time. I always believed we would return to blue one day and we did much sooner than I ever thought as it happened.

The posters who are still finding fault with Tan remind me so much of remoaners who can't accept the BREXIT result. They will find any little excuse to undermine what has been said or change the perspective. We are a club now where everyone is pulling in the same direction and we should-not let a small mind minority destroy the brilliant work that has been done.

Fact is Vincent Tan has been a huge benefit to this club even if you take the horrendous rebrand into consideration. He has done that by eventually listening to the fans. Both the return to Blue and the appointment of Neil Warnock were fan pressured decisions and maybe in going forward he should consider that?

The future is looking a lot better so please don't these small minded idiots who only care about themselves spoil it.

Well said Gavin
Neil Warnock is the miracle worker but VT deserves a lot more credit and a lot less criricism than has had had....especially at the moment.
Great to see City get promoted and " together stronger yesterday! "
Great trip back to North Wales smiling all the way!
Hats off to the manager, players, owner, chairman and backroom staff.

Minor gripe...Pity they didn't have pictures and audio on the screens at the end. And I left just before the players finally got on the pitch...but that's only a small criticism. :bluebird:

All I say is it is good to see you taking a much more objective view. I accept that forgiveness takes longer depending on your view but 3 and half years after we returned to blue is more than enough time for anyone.

Re: MUST WATCH - VT on next season & Apology for rebrand

Fair play Mr Tan for coming out with this.... In all walks of life people make mistakes, all of us... The bigger man is the one that admits them.

This club can really move forward now with Tan at the helm.

There is no reason for nay city fan to have a go anymore. Countless times I have read on here I want an apology.... Well. What is there left to do. Rebrand is closed and confined to our past.

We do not forgot our past but through many dark times following city you do move on in football. It's not life or death it's our passion.

Now the club is 100 percent pull g in the right direction. Yesterday's atmosphere also shows we can have a stadium or be proud of too

If ever you want to see an example of how the rebrand is more about the person than the club, read The Lone Gunman's posts  BTW he seems to have finally found a girlfriend (or a partner of some kind) ;)

The Lone Gunman said:

Re: Tan's apology
You'll have to point me in the direction of Tan's apology. I haven't seen it. I saw a brief clip from BBC Wales on Twitter last night in which he finally admits he made a mistake with his ridiculous re-brand, but I haven't seen any apologies. If someone has a link to the footage where he apologises to the fans I'd like to see it.

To be honest though, any kind of apology now will be far too little and way too late for me to radically alter my opinion of him. The summer of 2012 seems a very long time ago, as does the return to blue in early-2015. An awful lot of water has gone under the bridge since then and things have changed significantly for me on a personal level during that time. For much of my life, the football club was an all-consuming obsession. Now it is a source of interest and occasional amusement but little else. That situation's unlikely to change any time soon and certainly won't change as a result of any of the Emperor's proclamations, and I'm sure the same is true for plenty of other ex-supporters who were deeply affected by the re-brand and all that went with it.

It's entirely understandable that Tan would want to paint himself in a better light now as he knows full well what a fool he made of himself the last time he was in the global football spotlight. He won't want to embarrass himself again, so any charm offensive is only natural.

Gavin, it's so hard not to appreciate that interview and I hope sincerely that even if they can't/prefer not to forgive they might just want to let the bitterness go

Vincent Tan has remained when others would have walked yet he has continued to bank roll the club whilst learning from past mistakes

Arguably the second best day in the club's history, yet there's a big discussion about something that stopped being a thing in 2015, cracking fan base like.

Just had a look at some of the stuff posted on that thread and I must say it reminds me of that scene from the "Life Of Brian" where a small group "The People's Front Of Judea" are discussing their movement, and The Lone Gunman is really coming across as the new "Loretta".

What a bunch of sad acts.

I think what Tan experienced yesterday would have helped him massively to understand his mistake. Apart from the misjudged financial and 'supernatural' rationale behind the red fiasco he now has what he craves most... admiration and burgeoning adulation from the fan base and the satisfaction of rubbing shoulders with the highest echelon of football management and stardom. He must also realize there is a possible way of making money out of this enterprise if he goes about it the right way. My feeling is yesterday was a watershed moment in the club's history and Tan will now be he'll bent on investing the right level of money and resource in the club to take it to the next level and achieve more.
