If we go up the first player NW should sign.....

Traore from Middlesborough. The guys electric, great engine and runs at defenders. How he's not been snapped up yet is baffling but he is one to potentially bid for.

Personally don’t like him. Headless chicken.

Someone like joe Allen would be a good first signing

I would go for someone like Forestieri at Sheff Wednesday. We could do with a playmaker like him in the squad and he cohld play premier league level easily. Maybe swap him with Tomlin as he wants to stay up north.

Traore's been incredible this year, arguably the best in the league.

There's no way we could afford him unfortunately, Boro will be looking for at the very least £20mil in this market.

I like him skillful player who also puts in a shift. - otherwise Pulis wouldnt play him! Fair play to Traore if there were a few other players in the Boro team with his skill and commitment they'd have beaten Wolves!

This is a weird one, but I rate Potts of Barnsley. Very good central midfielder and best player on the pitch when we played them.
If Fulham don't go up, I'd love us to get Cairney, who is the number one CM in the Championship.

In my humble opinion the first player we should sign is Marco Grujic, he will prove to be an invaluable asset. :bluescarf:

If Fulham done make it up via the playoffs, we should deff go in for Ryan Fredericks, best right back in the league loves to get forward too and available for Free!

Also was impressed with the Millwall CB Jake Cooper.

Player of players out there and I'm sure NW already in contact with a few

On a more general note - if we did get promoted (and there's a long way to go yet) I would much rather see the gaffer recruit from the cream of the championship's talent who are in their prime age wise. I wouldn't want to be specific and name names as that's NW's job but the benefits are obvious:

1. NW would prefer to manage that type of player
2. They would be hungry and ambitious rather than pocket-lining journeymen
3. Budget wise we could afford some potentially special talent

IF we go up (and it's still a big if), I think we will need:

1 goalkeeper as Etheridge is away with the Philippines for 5 weeks - if we went up and Villa stay down, perhaps Sam Johnstone on a season long loan with a view to a permanent signing. He's been very impressive for Villa and is a great age. He will keep getting better and better.

1 left back - I'm happy with Bennett but I think we need another left back who's defensively solid in one on one situations. Warnock loves Preston's Greg Cunningham, but I would also look at Tyrone Mings, who Bournemouth signed for 8 million from Ipswich. Mings has had no luck with injuries at Bournemouth, but he''s a pacey, powerful, solid defender who I think has all the attributes for Warnock to turn into a top player.

2 centre midfielders - Ralls, Gunnarsson and Paterson can step up in my opinion and I think Damour can still be a good enough back up. That's 4 centre midfielders and I would want another 2 centre midfielders to strengthen further. I totally agree with Paul about Joe Allan, especially if Stoke get relegated. We need every midfielder to handle Warnock's high energy, pressing style as lets face it, we will be spending the majority of games chasing the ball.

My other target and the first player I would try signing would be Brentford's Ryan Woods. He's a bundle of energy, a fantastic footballer and chips in with goals and assists. I think he's a complete midfielder and even if we had to pay up to 10 million for him, I think it would be money very well spent.

2 wingers - I think we will need another 2 wingers to give Hoilett and Mendez-Laing competition. Any winger we bring in will have to be pacey with a great engine to track back in Warnock's system. If only Junior Hoilett could be cloned twice! I would consider Arsenal's Joel Campbell and Man City's Phil Foden on loan. I've seen Woodburn and Harry Wilson being mentioned, but I don't think they do enough defensive work to fit into Warnock's system.

1 striker - If true he's been offered to us, we would be foolish to turn down Andre Gray. He's a proven goalscorer at Premiership level with pace, energy and work rate. I think he would run himself into the ground for Warnock, just like he did for Sean Dyche at Burnley. Liverpool's Solanke on loan could also be an option, as he seems a similar stature to Zohore who can lead the line and hold the ball up well.

Those are the positions I would look at improving, but the first player I would try to sign would be Brentford's Ryan Woods.

Jota of Birmingham for me. He looked excellent against us recently as he did for Brentford at our place a couple of years ago. If we go up we will need players who are comfortable in possession and who can create against tight defences. :bluescarf: :ayatollah:

How about that diving little ***** Grealish ?

Warnock would no doubt get the best out of him, and he would cheat us loads of free kicks in and around the box, which would result in extra goals ?

We will cause premier league teams problems from free kicks and crosses, it will be our strength next season !!!

I can't stand him, but I think if managed correctly and if he applied himself he could be good enough.

He's not a player Warnock type player anyway.

If we went up we need:
GK
RB
LB
CM x 2
Striker
Probably another winger but we would have to move some on as we already have Hoilett, NML, Wildshut, Harris, Pilks.

Think people are looking a bit far out of the budget again. The cream of the Championship used to be very affordable, nowadays a lot less so. Cairney would cost £15m, as would Traore. Maddison is being quoted around £25m and that wouldn't surprise me.

If we look at the players in the squad, I'm not really sure there are that many who could really make the step up. A lot of very good Championship players but not a lot of Premier League quality. Etheridge, Manga, Morrison, Bamba, Bennett, Richards, Ralls, Gunnar, Zohore, Paterson, Mendez, Hoilett are all contenders for that but I can see a lot of these players being found out at a higher level. And that's only 12. We would need at least another 6 Premier League quality additions really.

Danny Ward for me is an obvious addition, as much as it would confuse! As someone rightfully pointed out Etheridge could be away for 5 weeks because of the Asia Cup and Ward is someone surely leaving Anfield in the summer and can't see he would be more than £5m ish.

Grujic could probably do the job for us again, and would be a natural progression for him to come back to us at a step up.

I think we need at least one more quality winger and one more quality striker. Andre Gray has been touted, exactly the sort of name we need up front. Warnock would get the best out of him.

In terms of the teams likely to go down (Southampton, Stoke, West Brom), I would love us to sign Joe Allen. He'd probably be around £20m though, and would doubt he'd want to sign for us so looking unlikely. There's not too many other players I'd like from Stoke, Shaqiri has a terrible attitude and is too inconsistent for me. Butland will go to a big club.

At West Brom, Matt Phillips would be an excellent addition, as would Nacer Chadli. I'd also take any of Redmond, Charlie Austin and Steven Davis from Southampton.

As long as we don’t buy journeymen foreign players for stupid money which I’m sure Warnock won’t. We should follow the model set by Burnley and Bournemouth , British players with Prem experience to add with what we’ve already got , assuming we of course get promoted
