CONFIRMED: " CARDIFF CITY HAVE BID FOR STRIKER "

Tuesday 30th Jan 2018

It has been confirmed that Cardiff have lodged two fresh bids in an attempt to bring Madine to the Welsh capital from the Macron Stadium before Wednesday's 11pm deadline.

Gary Madine has netted 10 goals in all competitions for Phil Parkinson's side so far this term, including the opener from the penalty spot in Bolton's 2-0 win over Cardiff in December.

Parkinson has previously stated he has no intention of allowing Madine — who has a year-and-a-half left on his contract with the Trotters — to leave the club this month.

And Bolton chairman Ken Anderson has stated it would take an "exceptional" bid for the Trotters to allow their leading goalscorer to depart this month.

Anderson said "We have received three different bids for Gary Madine from Cardiff City, but it will take an exceptional bid for the lad to leave Bolton Wanderers"

HITC Sport understands Cardiff City have made a new bid for Bolton star.

Tuesday 30th Jan 2018

Cardiff City have tabled a new improved bid for Bolton Wanderers striker Gary Madine, HITC Sport understands.

Cardiff have been chasing a new striker throughout this month's transfer window and they saw a bid rejected for Madine a couple of weeks ago.

A number of names have been linked with Cardiff, but Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock is hoping to convince Bolton to sell the 27-year-old before Wednesday's transfer deadline.

Bolton are reluctant to lose their top scorer as they battle to avoid relegation from the Championship.

Madine has scored 10 goals from 28 appearances in the Championship, including one in the win over Cardiff earlier this season.

Having started his career at Carlisle, Madine spent four years at Sheffield Wednesday before joining Bolton in 2015, and he helped them win promotion back to the Championship last season.

Warnock is desperate to end his hunt for a new striker before Wednesday's deadline, as he feels he needs to strengthen his side's attacking options if they are to maintain their push for promotion to the Premier League.

Interesting one this, if true NW must want him?

He hasn't signed an improved deal so you can read into that what you will. Bolton have probably told us what they want let's see if we've come near it??

If we have wouldn't surprise me to see them use the cash to buy one of ours as they appear to be our feeder club hmmm

Seems NW must be very keen. It could depend on Bolton getting Chung Yong Lee back from Palace?? Otherwise cant see them agreeing

That Chung Tony Lee fella seems like the signing Vincent Tan might want to make. Would cause a hell of a friction with the coaching staff

Why doesn't NW go for Nathan Blake?
He's available on a free, knows the club and Warnock.

He's not much older than some of these targets we are allegedly after, and at least he has played at a high level, especially compared to these journeymen.

He also has a curfew for 8pm for robbing a fruit machine so wouldn't be able to play on week days.

Two more bids have been made by the South Wales club, currently gunning for promotion from the Championship, but The Bolton News understands both have been rejected.

Wanderers chairman Ken Anderson has said only an “exceptional” offer would convince him to part with a key player like Madine in January.

Phil Parkinson said it would be “crazy” to sell his 10-goal top scorer and has said since the first day of the winter window the club’s aim is to emerge from January with a stronger squad.

Neil Warnock was unsuccessful with two bids earlier in the month, the highest of which is understood to have totalled £1.5million with bonuses.

The Bluebirds boss has been chasing Bournemouth’s Lewis Grabban and said he has lodged bids for as many as four different front men so far this month.

Madine signed a new deal with Wanderers in the summer, which runs to 2019. But interest from elsewhere has led the Whites to offer him an improved contract with a wage that better reflects his importance to the team. The deal remains unsigned - but sources at Bolton are hopeful it can be resolved quickly.

Cardiff City have submitted two additional bids for Bolton Wanderers striker Gary Madine.

The Bluebirds failed with a pair of bids for the Trotters' hitman earlier this month and looked set to turn their attention elsewhere, with Bournemouth's Lewis Grabban and Ipswich Town's David McGoldrick among those touted with moves to South Wales.

I just don't understand why we'd want Madine? 271 appearances with 63 goals. So 1 goal every 4 games is his average. Don't see what he brings that we don't already have....someone explain? :?:

im a bit stumped too really.

Re: Updated " Cardiff City have made a new bid "

Surely if we're really serious about giving NW and promotion a real go we need to back him with some money to do the job, or at least a fighting chance.

I mean the money is awash in the Championship of those in and around the top 10, and we're dancing around the edges with bit part strikers who've had half a good season in his career. Gotta feel for NW :banghead:

Must admit he wouldnt be my first choice but i do understand why warnock would be keen, hes everything we havnt got at the minute , hes good in the air, holds the ball up well and brings others into play , everything zohore doesnt do, typical warnock signing really not glamourus but another piece of the jigsaw. Lets be greedy and get grabban also..

We will be lucky to get anyone of quality in before the deadline. We have had a full month to get someone, we always leave it until it is to late.
