Wales/principality stadium!!!!

Apparently giggs is looking at going back there? :banghead:

If he does that he will well and truly kill Welsh football whilst he's in charge

Can’t see it myself

Depends what cut the WRU want compared to CCS.

Half empty stadium or would it be?

Us Taffs in general - don't like change.

There will be grizzles and groans for months now - due to new manager - whoever he was

It really must stay at CCS or the TogetherStronger may break and we slip backwards. We are settled there - feels like home - its a football stadium for one.

Leave Giggs see what he can do - but new manager AND new stadium will be a dangerous move

I bloody hope not....atmosphere was mostly dire. Even with 25000 it looks sad.
Don't like the insulting name either....I know it's a Building Society, but we're a nation!

Re: Wales/principality stadium!!!!

I hate the name too. Millennium Stadium sounds like something on the world stage. Principality is too parochial and uninspiring.

Leave him go there. On his own. He should be used to not turning up where the games are being played.

Nowhere in that article does it say that Giggs is looking to do that

It's been on radio Wales sports news since 6.30! He's is holding talks with faw into looking at playing there, ford at faw says will do what's best for team and money won't come into it with larger crowd's, Mmmm why is gigs looking into it in 1st place? :old:

Re: Wales/principality stadium!!!!

shows how out of touch he is really.

Well cannot for the life of me think this is going to go down well after coleman dabbled with idea but got short change from players, my concern is faw with ££££ signs in their eyes.

one off friendly against brazil or argentina or something then fair enough, but for competitive games we shouldnt go near the place.

No need to be sorry I haven't read the article I was just listening to radio when got up!
No your right they haven't yet! but they are going to so just put it out that giggs is going to hold talks about possibility using millennium stdm? Yes agree high profile friendlies no problem , but for competition games no way should you swap stadiums depending on size of opponent or importance of game

In fairness to Mr ford at faw he's quoted as saying we will do what's best for teams qualification chances, but there are lot of old fuddies at faw who won't understand this and will see ££££ sign in coffers. :old:

Would be a bad move.

But I’m not surprised, didn’t Ford try and move the Ireland game last year there? Seem to remember he did but Coleman and the squad fought for it to be at CCS.

In reality, we would be playing in a half empty stadium and the atmosphere would be awful.

Easy to remember that we were nowhere near to filling CCS before our recent good form in internationals. The crowd figures will go back down to that level if we don’t get results.

Hoping this is just a rumour and there’s nothing in it.

Well not rumours about giggs wanting to talk about it. Unless radio Wales got it terribly wrong and Mr ford didn't say anything on subject?

It seems to me its more like the FAW are looking to go back there for big money-spinners/high-profile friendlies, but they're going to give Giggs the final word. Much like they did with Coleman. One big match there would cover Giggs' wages for a while. Good economics.

UPDATE! Giggs will have last word on where Wales play their games :banghead:

Re: Wales/principality stadium!!!!

I believe the senior players wanted to stay at CCS but I expect Giggs with his ego and used to playing in front of 50,60k week in week out will be of the belief that his ego and presence will make everyone come and fill the Rugby Stadium and I reckon Ford is his lapdog now so will do whatever he wants.

FAW will just continue to live in the past of Euro 2016 (wonderful that it was) and will now be about the money and them being in Giggs presence everywhere...I fear a bleak future for Welsh football. I hope I am wrong. :bluebird:

the CCS is not our official national stadium and therefore there will always be discussion as to where games are played.. there was for the ROI game in the last campaign.

but Giggs is here now so lets blame him..??

its already begining to sound like the anti Tan stuff.

thats because playing in front of half a stadium in there would be bad for the team

pretty obvious that, not a witch hunt

And principality stadium is the rugby national stadium nothing whatsoever to do with football! And faw always will look at it as a cash cow but it will be a gamble would only take couple bad results and likelyhood of failing to qualify for taunament to go to 15k crowds and poor atmosphere? Answer is to make ccs home of Welsh football officially

The thread clearly states giggs in talks with faw about playing there (not definitely playing there.) He as instigated this not faw, the BBC new's as big headline clearly stating he will have final say on subject ? It's in black and white and on radio all facts
So in reality if we go there it is giggs fault as faw didn't say anything giggs did?
