Very poor Carl, unless we are in with a fighting chance of top 2 with 5/10 games remaining that we be as big as get this season from here on in. Traditionally Boxing Day has ALWAYS been a bumper attendance. Think things have changed with our fan base these days, lots of inward migration to the City over the years has added to our support from outside the valleys in the recent years of partial success. Many of these people may have been visiting relatives this weekend so bank holiday crowd was poor considering our position and the attractiveness of the opposition.

" CARDIFF CITY HOME CROWDS ON BOXING DAY "

2009 v Plymouth 24,010

2010 v Coventry 24,595

2012 v Crystal Palace 26,098

2013 v Southampton 27,929

2017 v Fulham 21,662

Personally I think this is very worrying,

Not brilliant but you know why I think our crowds are low.

One day the penny will drop with one or two.

I’m sat in 116 and it was pretty packed, much more so than usual but when Fulham scored the 3rd with 15 minutes to go all the faces I didn’t recognise started to stream out.
Fair weathered fans, probably won’t be back.

I was very surprised when Annis "officially" announced we had sold 23500 I think 21-22000 is a fair crowd 4000 up on our usual crowd and the shite weather would've probably lowered our walk up. When the half season tickets kick in in January I would say out average crowd would probably be increased to about 20,000 which is good enough for us

But the evidence in your own post suggests differently.

The two years in red we had our highest Boxing Day crowds.

Doesn't help when we lose virtually every Boxing Day game we play at home.

Just checked and you are indeed correct. Any idea the total number of season tickets we've sold now with the half season tickets?

Although I’d love to see bigger crowds, it doesn’t bother me like some people who fixate and seem to be obsessed with it.

The fickleness kicked in again, we get absolutely no walk up crowds, sure you can pay on the day but last time I did that it cost £30. Way too much in my opinion. I guess it didn’t help it started to piss down about 2pm either. The bollox about being in red isn’t really applicable either as one season was in the top flight when we were doing ok too, full of Gloria’s naturally. The year before we were on a 10 game winning streak and certs to go up fir the first time in half a century. Not enough people are interested in the expensive hobby of watching football I reckon.

Neil, I stand by the Rebrand has done all this, you were not around so don't really know how badly it hurt the diehard City fans and the infighting.

Yes the crowds were massive in the Prem and on some of the promotion run, but as I have stated many times, most of the extra people were Glory hunters and coming to see the opposition. 100%.

Ok, you tell me why our home crowds are down and awful and away?

Plus how come we only took 1,290 fans to Burnley to win the Championship for the first time in our history?
Pay on the day,NO restrictions and allowed 3,500 fans.
Even I nearly never went.

As I have stated several times to you and posted on here, I realise why the club wanted that bullshit slipped out, to try and get more fans to go,as fans follow fans if they think there will be a big crowd.

AWFUL CROWD TODAY.

We've been virtually giving it away all season.

Plus the half-season tickets,we've barely sold 2,000, at £29 for 12 Championship games

If the stadium was sold out every week it would be brilliant but I agree it seems to be more of and issue on here than it should be. Our current crowds are sitting 6th highest of the last 45 years. That is including our premier league season, the season after and the 5 years of Risdale price freeze. I've seen people saying we should be getting 30k today, why? There's nothing to suggest such crowds and I think the amount we are getting is good enough as it is. Although the crowds might not have increased as much, the number of fans turning up seems much higher than last season. The stadium certainly feels fuller than last season

Annis you are saying the rebrand as cost us aprox 6k fans sorry that's ridiculous over exaggeration yes lost fans but 6k+ if you say so! and we are 4k aprox down on ST sales for the yrs mentioned so maybe that's reason why we are really lower? Yes should have more no doubt about that but we haven't, 21k is ok why anyone thinks we should have 26k not sure no history of such crowds outside mid 2000''s and they were exceptional years as far as club is concerned

Re: ‘ WHAT DO YOU THINK ? ‘

Tue Dec 26, 2017 6:32 pm

I personally think that we have lost around 20% due to the re-brand, only personal experience this from all the lads I used to know who went regularly before the rebrand kicked in. The way I look at it is that you could line up 10 diehards and two out of the ten turned their back on the club at that point. Given our league position, the rebrand reversed and the quality of the manager, todays attendance should have been around 25K

All season City have been throwing tickets out at Cheap prices, yet the people won't turn up? I could understand if we were bottom, but we have been fantastic on the pitch.

I love crowds/stats and it hurts when our are so low and every club in the land now takes the piss out of them.

I love crowds/stats and it hurts when our are so low and every club in the land now takes the piss out of them.

If we fall down to say 6th,they should still stay about the 19,600 they currently are including away support.

All I recall is my last post was questioning why Proud Jack was not banned and agreeing with a poster that it helps generate hits for the site and then next session my account was banned.

If my comment sounded sarcastic I apologise. I read we had sold 23500 and was genuinely surprised as I would've guessed 22k tops I do agree if we end up in the play offs 19k is what we should be getting with the half season ticket sales added on

The way I look at it is that you could line up 10 diehards and two out of the ten turned their back on the club at that point. Given our league position, the rebrand reversed and the quality of the manager, todays attendance should have been around 25K
