Swansea next manager odds: Paul Clement sacked – Two dismissed bosses in frame
By Ben Pringle

PAUL CLEMENT has parted company with Swansea after recording just three Premier League wins so far this season, but who is favourite to take over at the Liberty Stadium?

Next Swansea manager odds: Who could replace Paul Clement? (Odds provided by Betfair)

Tony Pulis (Evens)
Ryan Giggs (10/3)
Ronald Koeman (5/1)
Paulo Fonseca (14/1)
Martin O'Neill (14/1)
Michael O'Neill (14/1)
Derek McInnes (16/1)
Gary Neville (16/1)
Gary Rowett (25/1)
Frank De Boer (25/1)
Guus Hiddink (33/1)
Eddie Howe (33/1)
Sean Dyche (40/1)
Marco Silva (66/1)

Swansea are currently bottom of the Premier League, four points adrift of safety ahead of Saturday's visit of Crystal Palace.

Manager Clement has been under increasing pressure in recent weeks, and the 45-year-old has finally been shown the door just five days before Christmas.

Swans chairman, Huw Jenkins, confirmed: “To change the manager, especially at only the halfway point of the season, is the last thing we wanted to do as a club.

“We had three different manager last season and as a result we all wanted to give Paul as much time as possible to turn things around.

“But we felt we couldn’t leave it any longer and needed to make a change to give us the best chance of an uplift and a turnaround in fortunes with the club bottom of the Premier League."

There is a long list of possible candidates to take over, including a pair of bosses who have already been sacked by other Premier League clubs already this season.

Nah, in true 'Jack' style, he came prematurely and dropped his sack in the excitement...right on top of Paul Clement's bonce before scampering into the night with his naughty pet reindeer, Rude Olf! :o :laughing6:

The main thing stopping him going to Swansea is if Stoke decide they want him to replace Hughes. The existing squad at Stoke is probably good enough with Pulis’ influence, whereas he is going to have to buy players to save the Jacks.

Skysports News just reported that Swansea are not pursuing Pulis at all, but are trying for Koeman or Bilic.

Pulis would have been their best bet for staying up. The others will surely want at least a 2 year contract. If they're relegated then they'll be gone come May. Technically even Monk's contract ran to the summer of 2018. Clearly he and others will have taken settlement sometime ago but in effect for the rest of this season they're paying or have paid Monk, Guidoline, Bradley, Clement and the new manager. That said I suppose we must have at some point been effectively Olli, Slade and Mackay although we probably didn't actually pay anything there

I'm utterly devastated! I thought Clement was doing a great job. Maybe give the job to Damien Green.

Former West Brom boss Tony Pulis has been the early favourite with the bookies to replace Clement, while Ronald Koeman, Louis van Gaal and Slaven Bilic also feature high up on the list of favourites with the bookmakers.

But one man who won't be getting the job is Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs who has ruled himself out of the running for the role when asked on Sky TV, where he also admitted to holding 'talks' last time around.

However, the club have confirmed that Little Britton will take charge of the game against Roy Hodgson's side at the weekend, and he'll be assisted by Gary Richards, Cameron Toshack and Tony Roberts.

Former Wales international blames Swansea City's 'shambolic' owners for club's plight
By Ian Mitchelmore

Ian Walsh also believes Tony Pulis is the best candidate to keep the Swans in the Premier League this season

Former Wales international Ian Walsh believes Swansea City's owners should shoulder the blame for the club's miserable start to the 2017-18 campaign.

Paul Clement was given the axe after overseeing just three wins in 18 Premier League matches so far this season, a run that leaves the Swans propping up the table ahead of their clash with Crystal Palace at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

And ex-Swansea City and Cardiff City forward Walsh said the finger should be pointed at the club's hierarchy for failing to replace top stars Fernando Llorente and Gylfi Sigurdsson in the summer.

"I'm quite surprised. I thought that Clement might get the Crystal Palace game at the weekend," Walsh told BBC Sport .

"Obviously the club haven't got faith in him, even if he was to win that game, that decision has been made.

"You've got to lay it at the door of the American owners. They've been shambolic really. At the start of the season, they didn't get out of the post early. There were problems with selling Gylfi Sigurdsson and getting money in to replace players.

"They haven't replaced their best players so you have to look at people above Clement and the players.

"The group of players they've got are not good enough so lots of things have got to happen and they've got to happen quickly.

"The American owners have got to stand up now and dig deep. They've got to show what they're worth and that they're in it for the long haul and not just in it for the money."

Regardless of the outcome of the clash with Roy Hodgson's side at the weekend, the Swans will spend Christmas in the Premier League's relegation zone.

And Walsh concedes that given how the Swans are currently playing, they are certainties to drop out of England's top tier, although he believes former West Brom boss Tony Pulis is the best candidate to replace Clement at the moment.

"The way they're paying at the moment I can't see anything other than relegation," added Walsh.

"They've got a complete transformation, and whether anybody can do that in a short period of time, it's very doubtful. The players aren't paying with any character. I watched them play against Man City and they just laid down and let Man City roll over them. No passion, and that comes from the manager and it comes from the top.

"I think what we've got to realise is that has got to come back into the Swansea way of playing. You can play with tactics and endeavour, but unless you play with passion and pride for the shirt then you're not going to succeed, it doesn't matter who you play for.

"I've watched a lot of Swansea this season and that's my gut feeling. I'm not on the edge of my seat any more watching them play and that's important for me.

"I would say, unless they planned for this, and I would damn hope that they have, if they haven't planned for it, I imagine people like Alan Curtis and Brian Flynn are there, Leon Britton is there, for the interim period.

"But you've got to bring in somebody with experience and Tony Pulis stands out head and shoulders above everybody else. Whether that sits well with the Swansea fans, it doesn't matter.

"The most important thing is that Swansea stay up because financially it's a disaster if they go down."

If they stay up now ill be amazed who the hell will want that job now after the last few seasons of selling there players but still expecting to compete at that level.
The Swansea way has gone they had a good foundation for years with a style of football that worked.
Not anymore manager after manager not good is it but good enough for them i hope they go down they pulled off a miracle last year be a tough ask to do it again.

If pulis gets it thats there best shot i think but mthe jacks will give it to another manager and expect to stay up.
One big mess there fans aint happy either so goof luck to there new manager hes gonna need it

'Tony Pulis would be diabolical' - Swansea City fans' verdict on manager options including Louis van Gaal and Ronald Koeman
By Dominic Booth

The Jack Army have spoken on who they want to succeed Paul Clement at the Liberty Stadium

With former Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal and ex-West Brom boss Tony Pulis leading the bookmakers' odds to succeed Paul Clement, Swansea City fans have responded.

Clement was relieved on his duties on Wednesday night after presiding over a disastrous start to the 2017/18 season.

The Swans have won just three times from 18 Premier League attempts under the former Bayern Munich, PSG and Chelsea assistant.

It means that survival specialist Pulis, sacked by West Brom last month, leads a list of candidates that also includes van Gaal, former Everton boss Ronald Koeman, Ryan Giggs and Frank de Boer.

Slavisa Jokanovic, Leon Britton and Marco Bielsa have also been mentioned in discussions about the next Swansea boss.

Swans fans have their say:

"Pulis would be diabolical"

In terms of a potential Pulis appointment — the Welshman is the bookies' 8/11 favourite — Swans fans' reaction has been very mixed.

Many on social media said they couldn't abide his direct style of football while others see him as the only man who can haul Swansea out of the relegation mire.

I reckon Tubbs from The League Of Gentlemen as she mentioned Swansea in last nights episode. She also looks like the locals so would fit right in. Papa Lazarou couks be her number two as he sells pegs.

The Giggs put down on Sky was brilliant. He has gone up in my estimation.
All the other candidates are dropping like flies.

Poor old Leon Britton... they wouldn't give him a game a while ago and now he's in charge.

Some pretty pathetic boring posts on here.
Do you really want Swansea to come down when we could have two fantastic derbies with them?

You joined this Forum just to say that, Jack? :?

I'm guessing it's not your first time on here though but you don't want to be exposed for who you were in your hey-day. I can understand that. Your world has changed somewhat in recent times and Cardiff fans are simply taking the opportunity to give a little back...notably using our own Forum rather than infesting another clubs with quotes/comments that we warned would one day bite you in the backside! ;) :thumbright: :ayatollah:
