Warnock on the crowds against Millwall and Ipswich

Friday 3rd November 2017 at the Cardiff City Press Conference :bluebird:

Neil Warnock:

"I was a bit disappointed in the crowds for the two games"

"I thought we would have got more than for the Millwall game on a Saturday and more than we did for our Tuesday night game against Ipswich"

"I know the 3,000 or so who go tomorrow will enjoy it at Bristol.”

"I do ask you all to behave tomorrow" :thumbright: :bluebird:

Cardiff City's average so far this season is 19,980 and they have been Top 3 (mainly Top 2) of the Championship for 3 months.

Our Average home support without away fans is approx 17,900.

Cardiff City's last Two home crowds 18,496 and 15,951 for a Top 2 Championship Club

Sat Oct 21 Middlesbrough 0 Cardiff City 1 :thumbright: :thumbright: Crowd 24,806 Away(400 )

Sat Oct 28 Cardiff City 0 Millwall 0 Crowd 18,496 Away (1,005 )

I get slated by the usual suspects for just talking about our home/away crowds, yet our very own manager Neil Warnock has continually gone on about our support needing to be about nine times in the last year.

Neil Warnock has been in the game longer than nearly any manager and has been very succesful with many clubs and is now making Cardiff City fans dreams come true :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

We should be averaging imo around 20,000 - 23,000, but for some reason we are not getting those crowds so I don't know what to suggest really. I can understand not many fans going to the Ipswich game as it was Halloween and the Millwall games was abysmal but yeah I dunno, I think we just have to accept it is what it is and get on with it.

The only crumb of comfort I can take is Warnock took qpr to the premier league and their support like ours is poor.so hopefully he wont get too downhearted.

Funny part to all this come late in season and we are up there getting crowds of 23k+
Or more, people will call them extra fans glory hunters!
Just because we are 2nd now doesn't mean we should be getting 25k fans no previous evidence of such crowds at beginning of season in championship only when promotion was a possibility or certain did we atain this

Makes you wonder how many we would have got if it was not for the rebrand.

One goal in four games probably didn’t help to be fair.

Ian, I stand by this, if it was not for the Rebrand, our home crowds would prob be another 3,000 plus home(average), it has destroyed so many diehards feelings for our club.

One example of many I know is Mallo, he use to do all the plumbing & other odd jobs for the City free in the 90's.
Mallo use to have for his big family about 8 season tickets for the rebrand and had some for 25 years.

Now Mallo has only 3 season tickets and has only been to about 7 home games in the last few seasons, one so far this season, he has lost that feeling as the club destroyed it.

Not 25k unless of course 8 or 9k have stopped going because of something that happened several years ago? But they mysteriously came back for one game.? ( leeds) :o

Allan, for me those who start following and turning up for our last few going up games and going once we are in the Premier League, are Glory Hunters. What else are they?

Answer as well, Why go then, why not now or earlier in the season?

The usual answers on here are (Plenty plenty more as well)

The weather
The cost
Park Football
Not scored enough goals
Early kick off
Tuesday night
Its a Saturday, so shopping or park football
Everyones on holidays
Its Xmas
its January everyone is spent out
Its hard to buy tickets
to much traffic to drive there

We have 260,000 registered fans.

How do many other clubs in football survive and 7 Championship clubs regularly get 27,000 plus?
Even Bradford City get over 20,000 home crowds.

Remember its not me moaning here its Our Manager Neil Warnock :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Unfortunately it is what it is,I am not happy with the gates we, especially Warnock deserve a much bigger crowd, the only consolation I get is when I watch match of the day and see the stats of some of the shocking attendances for the prem like Bournemouth than cant make 11.000.

I don't get involved in Re brand conversations anymore but I am still anti tan. I don't care how many millions he's spent on Cardiff, It make absolutely no difference to me what league we play in as I wont return to the CCS on a regular basis until he's gone.
I have attended the odd home game in recent years but before the rebrand I had a season ticket for roughly 15 years ( only 24 now )

And your not the only one, I know many many Diehards who were broken through Tan & his Rebrand and you and them all should be Totally Respected for it :blue scarf:

Of course they are disappointing and of course the manager wants more, no doubt the club have also asked him to say something however it is what it is. People have many reasons to not want to go week in week out.

People don't need an excuse they will go if they want to and can afford it.

No factor. Two out of three of Our highest crowds over the last few years were when we were rebranded. That’s not defending Tan simply stating a FACT!

Is the odd home game the likes of Leeds by any chance?

It makes sense if you have totally boycotted the City but still going back occasionally makes me think it’s a convenient excuse.

Not at all mate. I haven't been to a home game this season and I'm not planning on going any time soon.
People who know me are very confused with the situation in all honesty as I used to be city through and through but it isn't the same any more for me.
I love doing away games as that's a good laugh on the bus with good friends.

However the fact remains our highest crowds were when we were rebranded so although we lost some diehards they were replaced and in fact added to. The current crowds are fack all to do with the rebrand or Tan who at the moment is (taking away history) is probably the best owner we have ever had.

Correct Neil, Our highest crowds were when we were Runaway Leaders of the Championship & then when we were in the Premier League, but what happened to those New Glory Hunters?

As most them certainly never stayed and should be there now. You Support your club No matter who the opposition are :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

For me they were not Cardiff City fans, more interested in the Opposition, the club saw people buy Premier Seats for fortunes and go to every away game in the Premier League, yet the minute we were relegated many of these Never renewed or to be seen again.

Whilst at the same time, many Diehard fans have been lost and needed again.

The club must learn this time if we are promoted, just because you buy a Premier Seat or a box,you should not be allowed 4 away tickets, away tickets should to be the loyal fans who followed City in the Championship.

Our Supporters Clubs were treated awful and there were many arguments about the treatment, things like this must not be allowed to happen again. :thumbright: :bluebird:

I believe the poor crowds or lost supporters is more down to the relegation and poor management choices that was made (Slade Trollope).
Maiky’s promotion year and obviously the year were well supported, and then back in the championship was not too first year as I believe there was a lot of optimism of going straight back up.But it came all too clear we weren’t going up and Slade and Trollopes football was just dire and we started to lose fans rapidly.
These fans are just not coming back as quick as they left.Shame.

Makes you wonder how many we would have got if it was not for the rebrand.

Liam,

And your not the only one, I know many many Diehards who were broken through Tan & his Rebrand and you and them all should be Totally Respected for it :blue scarf:

Mallo comes back and then realises his feelings are not there like they were.

Bang on mate, watching city at home just isn't the same for me either.
I love the aways and I don't think that'll ever change.

Liam, Nothing but Respect for you :thumbright: :bluescarf: :bluebird:

:ayatollah: Shame not everyone has the same opinion :laughing6:

People are too quick to talk before knowing facts.
I didn't attend one game in the premiership season which says a lot.

That does say a lot about your principles and respect for that.

However the fact remains our highest crowds were when we were rebranded so although we lost some diehards they were replaced and in fact added to. The current crowds are fack all to do with the rebrand or Tan who at the moment is (taking away history) is probably the best owner we have ever had.

I can't speak for everyone but this is my reasoning :thumbright:
I'll never support another club and I will always attend away games. IF and when Tan sells up I will give the CCS another chance. :ayatollah:

Agree with that Annis but it’s not a new thing. How many people got Cup Final tickets who had never been to the City?

Cant wait till we get promoted and club doubles mine and sons season ticket. But hey, it goes to a good cause. When football clubs in general piss away cash that working people dream about they can shove the loyalty tripe.

In our last promotion season, in red, we never had a crowd lower than 20,000 all season. You can’t blame the rebrand for this. Ironically, it was Ridsdale’s season ticket scam which inflated crowds for 4 years.
