I just can't see see splashing too much cash in January no matter where we stand.
Mind you with Warnock nagging at his ear anything is possible![]()
So the answer to the question from me is No I can't see Tan really splashing the cash!

Allan, I personally can't see Tan saying No to Warnock as it was Warnock who stopped Tan selling Kenneth Zohore, but if we are not in the promotion pack, then I don't see Tan putting anymore money in and I would respect that

Martin, I am looking at it in two ways, Business for Vincent Tan & Success for Cardiff City

As if Tan will take notice of any fan regarding running his businesses.
Tan main objective is to get as much return as he can from Cardiff City FC. So far he has made a right cock up of it but at least he is appearing to be sorting it out. Tan comes over as one of those business men who wants it his own way so listens to no one until it gets so bad he has to listen. The rebrand and selection of managers is proof of that.
Anyway back to the subject. I'm not a fan of the January window being an opportunity for clubs of our status to improve things. History has shown that and I'm struggling to think who made a huge impact on us over the last decade thanks to the window. Frazer Campbell comes to mind but he was a gamble and the price of £300k was why we gave him a go. Anyone out there of any interest will cost a bomb in January of which Tan will be very reluctant to open the purses. Our best bet will be the knowledge of Warnock finding someone to see us through on the cheap and that will not be easy.

I do agree that the level of monies spent in January will be directly linked to our League position i.e. IF we are in the top 2 (still a massive ask in my opinion) then the odds would favour promotion, being in the top 4 would likely signal a push for the playoffs but wouldn't justify spending heavily, being in the top 10 would make any spending a big gamble.
In my opinion January will more likely see further moves to cut the budget with players like Pilkington and Connolly either being sold or loaned out. Any monies saved could free up budget cash for a couple of quality PL loan players and for me that is where we will more likely see something happen.
By turning down serious money for both Zohore and Morrison this summer VT has already backed NW to the hilt this season and if any transfer business in January amounts to just a couple of loans I wouldn't see that as a lack of support or backing from VT.

If Zohore if firing will clubs take a punt?
If Brighton are fighting at the bottom will they spend over
20m to get him.
If he does go will NW get all that money?
If he stays will VT sanction a couple of players imo 2 would be sufficient if we have no injuries.
Personally I think Pilks and 1 or 2 others will be offloaded and NW will be allowed to bring 2 in.
If I had a choice those 2 would be attacking players and established names with experience.
Like I said all if's but we are in a good place and let's just see where we are coming into the window.

IF I WAS VINCENT TAN : On 2nd January after the QPR game more than half the season is gone and the transfer window re-opens... If (and only if) on that date we are still "IN THE MIX" I would back Warnock, who I trust, and open the floodgates financially - ONE LAST TIME - in order to have my best and final shot at the Premiere League.... "IN THE MIX" means that we have more than 50% chance of promotion...
For this reason I will commit myself to Warnock RIGHT NOW that come 31st October after the Ipswich game (when a third of the season is gone) and IF we are IN THE MIX - to start preparing and identifying the players we need when the transfer window re-opens.... The magic word is "IN THE MIX". End October we prepare and early January we act !!
Will we be up to this challage? Or will it be the beginning of the end of the Tan era?
My reason for taking this chance is because I have invested a massive amount of money in the club and have no intention of investing more.
So- if we don't get promoted this season I know that my investment may be in danger - because I will face one of 3 choices , the sweetest of which will be very bitter :
(1) I will again back Warnock financially. This I will not do because the cost of running the club - which is already losing a lot- will become prohivitive now that the parachute payments are finished.
(2) I will sell the club. This means a massive write-off as the absolute maximum I will get is £30 million
(3) I will sell our best players , to balance the books. This would mean that our our immediate promotion future is written off.
Now how do we identify the 50% chance of promotion ? .... The answer is that this will only be done on 2nd January 2018.
However, just by way of example.... If on Jan 2nd we are where we are now (or thereabouts) then: .... (a) we will have a 33% chance of automatic promotion being 1 of 6 clubs vying for the 2 automatic spots...(b)otherwise we will have an 80% chance for making the play-offs but then we will only have a quarter of that for promotion - meaning 20%.... (c) add the two together we have 53% chance of promotion.
This means 'go for it' !.... Naturally the possibility of getting promoted with no investment and without being IN THE MIX is also there.... Anxious and expectant times for us fans and for Tan!! What do you think?

When we won the league last time, we needed a striker and bought the perfect one in Campbell that kept us firing. IF we are still up there come January, then one or two players would be more than enough.

Yeah brought in Campbell and Barnett who were both great for us. I can see this sort of thing happening again

Forgot all about Barnett.
Barnett was brought in to see us through and did a great job. Shame he never looked like following us into the Premiership.

Annis nothing 100% clear on my end but sounds like you're on the nose. NW had a budget for the summer and will have another in Jan, the size of which depends on our league position.
