UPDATED 05/07/17

Hull City have made an improved bid for Cardiff City striker Kenneth Zohore, Sky sources understand.

The Danish U21 international signed a contract extension until 2020 in April, but has been attracting interest after scoring 12 times for Cardiff last season, 11 of those coming in the last 17 games.

When previously asked about interest in Zohore, Cardiff manager Neil Warnock said: "If I'm to have any chance next season, he won't be going anywhere."

Hull City target Cardiff City striker Kenneth Zohore after stunning season

Cardiff City's new Championship rivals Hull City are considering a move for star striker Kenneth Zohore.

Kenneth Zohore on City's short list and they have the money.

The Danish under-21 international is understood to be high on their list of targets this summer as they look to bounce straight back to the Premier League following relegation.

The Tigers know it would take a big fee to convince Cardiff to part with their prized asset, with the Bluebirds determined to fend off any interest in a player who set the Championship alight during the second half of last season.

Manager Neil Warnock has made no secret about the importance of Zohore to his own plans of mounting a promotion bid, but has previously admitted it would be impossible for the club to turn down a huge fee for any of their players.

Hull's interest is not said to be at the stage of tabling a bid yet, but there is plenty of money to spend following the £17m sale of Harry Maguire to Leicester City. They also have the benefit of significant Premier League parachute payments.

Zohore only signed a contract extension at the end of April in an improved deal that ties him to the club until 2020.

The 23-year-old scored 12 times for the Bluebirds last season, 11 of which came in the final 17 matches of the campaign.

Asked about potential interest in Zohore, Warnock previously said: "If I'm to have any chance next season, he won’t be going anywhere.

"You can never say never – if someone came in £20m you can't say no and I'd even sell Sol Bamba for that who has been just as important.

"But I’m not under pressure (to sell), and I don’t think Vincent would want to sell him for a minute because he wants to do well next season, as does Mehmet (Dalman).

"We all do and they know what I've done for him. I don’t think the player would do as well for other managers because sometimes it's better the devil you know.

"He’s got a lease of life that might not have been possible a few months ago and I think he understands my contribution to that. He needs me as much as I need him at the minute.”

The Bluebirds have added to to their attacking options already this summer with the addition of Rotherham striker Danny Ward, but Rickie Lambert looks set to depart, possibly to Plymouth Argyle, in the near future.

Warnock has also signed goalkeepers Lee Camp and Neil Etheridge, Scotland defender Callum Paterson and winger Nathaniel Mendez-Laing.

Hull City are interested in signing Cardiff City striker Kenneth Zohore

Hull City are interested in signing Cardiff City striker Kenneth Zohore as head coach Leonid Slutsky aims to bolster his attacking options ahead of the new Championship campaign.

Zohore is understood to be one target under consideration by Slutsky after shooting to prominence with the Bluebirds in the second half of last season.

Twelve goals came from 23 appearances after Christmas before Zohore then netted twice for Denmark’s under-21s at the recent European Championships in Poland.

City are weighing up a bid for the 23-year-old but would have to stump up a significant fee if they are to tempt Cardiff into business.

Could make a lot of money here as Hull have lots to spend. Put a £10 mil price tag on him. A bigger club was always going to sniff around him. :bluebird:

I do agree with you, but I just don't know if they money gained from it would be used productively. Could you see us buying a striker for 10 million to replace him?

yeah jog on!

Come up with £20m upfront or don't bother asking!

Re: KENNETH ZOHORE NOW A TRANSFER TARGET FOR...?

Wed Jul 05, 2017 8:37 am

if he starts off the season well...there are going to be some serious bids for him before the window closes £10 million + is not out the question

Not bad for a player who was a bit of a joke and couldn't even get in the squad 9 months ago

All depends how serious this promotion challenge really is even at £20M he will be difficult to replace , at the moment we are short of midfielders who can pass the ball

can't see it, if he wanted to move to a championship club he wouldn't have signed a new deal.

Re: KENNETH ZOHORE NOW A TRANSFER TARGET FOR...?

Wed Jul 05, 2017 9:07 am

He's just signed a contract and like warnock said he's under no pressure to sell so they'd have to fork out some serious cash for him.

20 million or no deal

Hull can nick off elsewhere. They'll bid a silly condition offer a la Marshall where we get most of the money dependent on if they get promoted, appearances, greater than 50 goals scored and North Korea succesfully launch a missile. Hang on a sec.........

Maybe it's just me but the state of Marshall in the prem I think we got a good deal even without the bonus of staying up. I bet you could pick him up cheaply now if anyone wanted to take on his wage.

as for Zohore he has to stay, his few goals in the U21 will help him come back just as confident. think he could be huge for us.

The beauty of Kenny is "HE IS A TAN SIGNING !!!!!!"

Our smug little owner can look his detractors (you know who you are ;) ) in the eye and say "see, I was a quick learner"

He won't go anywhere unless it a top 6 team and super big bucks, because he can afford it to say no to everyone else.

I think the eventual Kenny transfer will wipe every poor to shocking transfer away with interest.

Considering we could have got double for him the year before and triple the year before that I don't think it was a good deal.

I know Marshall's time back in the PL divides opinion but I'm still a massive fan. I think he was on a hiding to nothing with a club that was always going down and whilst it was cash for us and maybe another shot at PL for him, overall I think it was a bad move for all parties. To be honest, I'd love to see him back but that's just my opinion.

Completely agree that Ken must stay if we are serious about having a proper go this season. He's come on so much under NW and the potential set-up options this season will improve his yield even more. If a manager like NW sees something and believes in you, you are going to get all the support and experience to achieve your potential, any player turning their back on that would be crazy. Its no surprise that Ken has attracted interest and will continue to do so.

I agree 2b2h I think we sold Marshall at just the right time. CCFC got 7 good years out of him plus we made a profit of £2m just at the point where his abilities were beginning to wane. In anyone's book that's great business.

Re: KENNETH ZOHORE NOW A TRANSFER TARGET FOR...?

The thing that strikes me with this report is not whether Zohore could/would go to Hull but more about which other clubs might declare an interest once/if City gave even a hint they'd listen to offers

Neil Warnock was on Talk Sport earlier (brilliant as ever) and he has stated that he is "under no pressure" to sell

To me, that is a double-edged positive, as (a) Zohore may well (almost certainly will IMHO) stay and lead our line for 2017/18, or (b) another club will have to cough up big-time to secure his services

Lessons learned in recent years, an experienced manager in Neil Warnock coupled with the rocketing price of quality young strikers, means that City might just come out smiling fir once regardless of the outcome  :ayatollah:

Yes KZ was a Tan signing but he was a Warnock creation. A lot of the problems with previous Tan signings has been the reluctance of the managers to make good on the players because of a fear that they might be excluded from future transfer targets.

You do wonder if players like Etien Velikonja would have come good if they had a manager like Neil Warnock believing in them.

He was bound to attract attention with his performance for Denmark in the under 21s. But is he a player that only Warnock can get the best out of? Remember Adel Tarabt? A genius of a player on his day that only Warnock was able to handle. Now, I don't think Zohore is that difficult to handle, but the Warnock factor should certainly help in keeping him with us.

That is definitely a huge factor. You almost feel it would be dishonest to sell him for £10m+ knowing he will probably go back into his shell

I agree. £10m is not enough to replace Kenneth Zohore. I'd sell for £20m for sure but Zohore can only keep getting better and is a very, very important player for us now!

Re: KENNETH ZOHORE NOW A TRANSFER TARGET FOR...?

It would have to be a very a good bid to even have a chance of him joining them, we have got just as much chance of getting promoted as them if not better.

If I was Zohore I would rather play under Warnock ,who he looks up to now, than Slutsky who has no experience of the english game and probably doesn't motivate very well, based on his Russia team performance against Wales.

This is the what I saw on twitter regarding the bid.

Slutsky has won the Russian league 3 times and the cup twice. Judging him off the back of one performance is a bit blinkered. They were shit but had to try and win, which massively played into our hands as we could hit them on the break.

I said as soon as we came down we should have sold him as his value would only decrease. I don't blame the club for keeping hold of him. I still rate him highly and above what we have now but I wouldn't want the wages he is on now on our wage bill.

20m plus add ons and we will thinkabout it, tbh i cant see warnock allowing this to happen unless he gets around 10m+to spend on a new striker to replace him but being totally honest i think zohore needs warnock as much as we need zohore

Re: KENNETH ZOHORE NOW A TRANSFER TARGET FOR...?

Wed Jul 05, 2017 1:11 pm

I'd bet Warnock said to him, give me a year, you will be the main man and get the goals and if we don't go up I'll find you that prem move no problem.

if be surprised if he went but this is Cardiff city.

I agree, we need to forget about Marshall now and move on. It's a new era and I think his best few seasons are behind him.

I am talking about how well gets his team up for the fight, Wales needed to win as well realistically and we clearly had more drive than them to get the win.

He could win all the cups and league titles he wants in Russia, in his own country, I dont know what the quality of players and teams are like over there but what I do know is a lot of managers underestimate this division and if he does that then he wont last long at all.

I really cant see him doing well at hull, I personally dont believe they will be challenging at the top but I will hold my hands up and say I was wrong if they do well this year.
