Cardiff City fans react as Cameron Jerome does the Ayatollah after scoring for Norwich against the Bluebirds

Fans have reacted after former Bluebird Cameron Jerome celebrated his goal for Norwich against Cardiff City by doing the Ayatollah.

Jerome scored 27 times in 79 appearances for the Bluebirds after moving to south Wales from Middlesbrough in 2004.

But he came back to haunt his former side by putting the Canaries 1-0 up after 40 minutes.

Cameron Jerome celebrates with his team mates after scoring for Norwich against Cardiff City
And supporters were left fuming as he celebrated his goal by doing the iconic Ayatollah celebration.

Always liked Jerome until he mocked the ayatollah. We started your career lad

Jerome pokes Norwich in front. 40Mins. And he does the ayatollah to wind up the canton end

— Cardiff City Mad (@cardiffcitymad) February 4, 2017
Jerome does the Ayatollah ... fans didn't like that #BLUEBIRDS Soft goal to concede as well

— Giggsy (@DjGiggsy) February 4, 2017
Did Jerome just do the ayatollah?

— Nia Scourfield (@niascourfs) February 4, 2017
It is not the first time this season that there has been controversy surrounding the famous celebration.

Defender Jazz Richards was booed by his own fans after refusing to do the Ayatollah in his side's 0-0 draw with Birmingham City on the opening day of the campaign.

But the Bluebirds later released footage showing Richards performing the celebration.

Neil Warnock does the 'Ayatollah'
Manager Neil Warnock endeared himself to the Cardiff City faithful by performing the celebration after his side's 2-1 win over Bristol City on his debut with the club in October.

Stupid thing to do, can't recall us ever doing him any wrong. Makes him look like a complete weapon when we were the side that gave him his big break in the game.

Very low and unnecessary

Thought Jerome loved cardiff and stood amongst cardiff fans when we played at Leicester.
Can't remember this reaction after Ramsey did it after scoring for arsenal ?

He always gets booed when we play against him and never seems to get a good reception,it works both ways so it's up to him I suppose.
Personally I like a bit of edge between players and the crowd.

Cameron Jerome is totally taking the piss and on Call Rob, Nathan Blake brushed it off to an angered Cardiff fan saying it was nothing disrespectful....

I personally thought it was funny (obviously not the goal), we give him shit all game then he does that , just banter nothing more

That's fair enough and I agree, Darran

A few Norwich players took some pretty colourful 'banter' well today (particularly at the end of the game in the corner near their own fans) and gave a bit back with smiles on their faces :laughing6:

What football is all about and then we all headed home! LOL :ayatollah:

Don't know why he done it and don't really care. His job is to score goals for Norwich City and today he worked his socks off for their cause and, in my opinion, if anyone deserved to score the winning goal today it was him.

At the end of the game after going to the Norwich fans he turned and clapped our fans in the Family Stand, he also did the head tapping thingy.

Was that a piss take :?

Just the sort of player we need right now.

100% agree with you both here. Football is now to lovey Dovey for my liking. He was getting some shit before hand with who are ya etc. So he had every right to give a bit back.

I did not think he meant to be disrespectful to our fans when he scored, he was elated and on a high. As in life, when you may change your employer/company, you would do your best for that Company as they are the ones paying your wages. He has scored against us before and celebrated. Should we care , I do not think so. We should be more irate about the ref's performance in the second half def two pens for us!
At the end Jerome did give his shirt to a Cardiff youngster- he cant be all that bad!

That's the way I see it.
He took some shit from our fans and they cheered loudly when he was booked.

Football fans need to learn that it goes both ways. If you can't handle players winding you up, then don't wind them up.

Wasn't there but just think, what would you do in Jerome's position?

Agree with that. He took a load of stick, so wasn't at all bothered about what he did when he scored. Banter works both ways.

Never liked him; always surly with no time for the children. I think the Cardiff crowd boos him more than any other former player. So he dished it back; don't blame him. However I was very surprised but impressed to note that at the end he properly applauded the same fans he had wound up at the goal and genuinely did the Ayatollah for the remaining kids at the tunnel as he left the pitch..

I saw him in a better light at the end of this.

Thought he was the brightest player on the pitch today, he is a pain in the arse, never stops moaning or throwing his arms in the air, but he showed more desire and ability than half of our side put together

He gave my son his shirt at the end of the game :o

Nothing wrong with it just like Ramsey's one bit of banter take it on the chin the saddest thing is everytime he scores against us it makes me think that we had the opportunity to sign him but instead buy crap like Le Fondre.

What happens with Ramsey ? As some mentioned him above

He did the Ayatollah when he scored against us and the fans clapped him.

There is a difference between Jerome's celebration (straight in the face of our crowd, after scoring) and Ramsey doing it on the way back after realising our support was applauding him?

Seems to me he was trying to integrate himself with our fans, doing the ayatolla, but it just backfired on him

At the very moment he scored Cameron Jerome was taking the piss out of our club. What he did to make good afterwards means nothing...the guy is disrespectful full stop...

How long ago did he play for us? Bet he forgot he had played for us before :laughing6:
Surely wasn't a big deal what he did remember they were on bad run away from home ?

I agree just a bit of banter.
Too many drama queens on here.

No problem with him doing it at all.

He got a lot of stick all afternoon and the only way he was able to give it back was to score a goal which unfortunately he always seems to do against us!

At least he didn't do the "swim away"!
