Over a 1,000 so far,but we have all this week and City have just won again,many City fans leave it till the last couple of days, I don't expect 4,000 to go, hopefully hit 3,000

I've got to get a load this week.

I hope people make an effort for this game after both Reading and City agreed to a reciprocal low price deal.

Annis that was a good sight to see 4k city fans take over that stand behind the goal. I can't see us taking 3k but I think 2k is a realistic target in our current position, but IF we beat Brighton then who knows...

When we took 4000 there we were flying near the top of the table, it's not a fair comparison now. Although I'd hope for 2500.
Comparison with Bristol would also be skewed by the fact that when they went to Reading they were fighting for a play off spot.
Might not be so many if they are playing them now !

Driving up, wheres the best place to park ?

I find the old greyhound track between longwater avenue and the a33 the best place. It's easy and quicker to get out.

come off the m4, J11 on the a33 you will head toward reading town center. There are a few right turnings into industrial parks with roads going through them. You can park down there for free and reasonably safe, reading fans will Park there too. Only a 10/15 minute walk to the ground which is just down one road really! Really easy to find! Enjoy!

I think we will take somewhere between 1500-2000, if we can get over the 2,000 mark then all things considered I think it will be a good following.

Incidentally I was there that time we took 4,000 and in the past Reading would have been a game I was all over when I was in my early 20's with spare cash on the hip. Unfortunately though I will be completely honest and say that this game holds absolutely no interest to me, I would imagine I am probably a good example of the situation for many of my age who have done the trip many times before. For me it was a straight choice, Reading or Leeds and as I have been to Reading 8 times and Elland Road never it was a no brainer. I simply can't afford to do both.

On another point, I think we have lost a generation, when I was watching us regularly away in the 90's and 00's our away support had a massive proportion of young lads in their 20's, as I said above with cash on the hip. When you see other Clubs following's they seem to have what we had then, but now, whilst we seem to have lost it. There used to be 100's if not thousand's of us young lads ranging from 17-25 on trips all getting to know each other from different area's. That seems to be gone now.

I wen't to Preston last season and stopped in Blackpool, there was about 500 there, hardly anyone in Blackpool, a couple of coaches mostly older lads. A trip like that would have had everyone out years ago for a weekend in Blackpool combined with watching Cardiff, every young lad in the town would have been up for it. Where are they now? If we wan't our away following to be boosted we need to get the youngsters into it and enjoying the trips, at the moment that generation seems to have found something else to find their money on. Obviously before anyone takes offence I'm not knocking our youngsters, the ones that do go got my respect but they don't seem to go en masse like those before them did.

I will say however two years ago we were really struggling with the youngsters but this year they have come of age a little and it's only increasing. Still a long way to go and don't think it will ever reach the numbers you pointed out but they are very vocal and growing in numbers which is great.

It's not a case of not caring is it. Some people won't be able to afford to go all the time, doesn't mean they don't care.

Most youngsters will inevitably have more disposable income if single, living at home, no kids etc etc and its those sorts of people that have been the backbone of our away support in the past that we seem to have lost over the past few years.

All the kids where I live now age 18-25 are doing other things whilst 10 years ago in the same town we were on as many Cardiff City Away days as we could possibly fit in, on occasions there would be 3 coached going from where I live, now we struggle to fill one.

Definitely more youngsters on our coach these days.

Although it's still up to all of us to do what we can if we still care.

It's not a case of not caring is it. Some people won't be able to afford to go all the time, doesn't mean they don't care.

All the kids where I live now age 18-25 are doing other things whilst 10 years ago in the same town we were on as many Cardiff City Away days as we could possibly fit in, on occasions there would be 3 coached going from where I live, now we struggle to fill one.

Exactly, personally since I had kids usually do about 5 aways a season. Absolutely zero interest in doing it week in week out, more than care but other commitments always dictate. My worst amount of aways in a season in all my life following city was in the Prem, quite ironic considering that was the holly Grail and two of those games were Fulham and Stoke hardly the cream.

Like I said, we are only heading one way. That upwards both on and off the field.

We have sold more than reading brought to us in the summer for a 3pm ko.

Its difficult to have sizable away followings when we restrict those able to purchase to l2,000 or so season ticket and membership holders. People wont buy a membership just so they can go to a couple of games a season. Perhaps they could add a quid / game to the booking charge for non members. Letting members / season ticket holders buy 2 each would also help.

I know people use other people numbers but its difficult particularly for exiles and getting kids tickets can be a real pain. I no longer know anyone with a child's season tickets. I'll be at Brighton and Reading, ticketless for both, but I don't mind taking the risk. I took 3 relatives to Brentford without telling them I had no tickets. When I got there Vince had one spare but there were no others around. Fortunately and despite being told to the contrary the Brentford ticket office were selling to away fans but I'd be reluctant to try that too often.

I just watched Warnock's interview on player after the Burton game and he said they will expect to win but i'm usually lucky at Reading! He seemed quietly confident, 2.1 to us I wreckon!

Ticket booked, and sorting the train tickets from Nottingham out tomorrow, bouncing for this one now! me and my brother have booked a hotel not far from the stadium for this one

Hopefully we'll have a big away support for this one! A short, very cheap trip (thank you to Reading for that one ) Also, with the passion and never-say-die attitude from the players and management at the moment, I think they deserve it!

That's a really good post. I wonder where they are now? Maybe they just don't like or can't afford modern football. It sounds like Reading is good value on the ticket front though. Hopefully, survival this season and a realistic promotion push next season will attract a few of them away from Tinder and onto the terraces once more

Or bringing up children and spending time with the family. It's an age thing, the young get older and the production line usually continues only this time the production line is a bit slower. It's picking back up though, without doubt.
