Burton Albion

A bitesize, early preview of Saturday’s game at home to Burton Albion right here...

Is this the match when Cardiff finally stamp their authority on a team they SHOULD beat in front of their own fans?

It feels like a watershed moment, where a win can help Warnock’s men put relegation fears to bed and look up rather than over their shoulders.

Burton are coming off the back of a poor 2-0 defeat to lowly Wigan and won’t arrive in South Wales with much confidence.

The home fans will demand three points and Cardiff could secure a THIRD back-to-back victory, providing they can deal with the pressure of being overwhelming favourites. Warnock’s men have often thrived with the ‘underdogs’ tag, so complacency mustn’t become a problem.

If they can take the momentum from Saturday’s triumph at Ashton Gate and create that siege mentality once again, another victory is within their grasp.

Personally I will be happy with a scrappy 1-0 win. These sort of games we find very tricky.

Lucas Akins says Burton Albion's management team will help to keep morale high as the Brewers target a return to Championship form at Cardiff City on Saturday. Six defeats from their last seven league outings has left Albion just one point and one place outside the relegation zone after 26 fixtures.

With the three sides below them also showing inconsistencies, a couple of positive results in that time could have helped give the Brewers some welcome breathing space, but a couple of flat performances at home to Preston North End and Wigan Athletic have kept them firmly in the battle at this stage. Saturday's trip to the Cardiff City Stadium provides Nigel Clough's side with another chance to make up important ground on a team in the bottom section of the division.

Another side in terrible form, one win in seven and that being against Rotherham.

Wigan beat them in their own backyard 0-2 on the weekend and they are also a team in terrible form.

Ultimately 3 points will do but would be nice to boost our goal difference.

I'm going for 2-0. Attendance: 15,186

Looking ahead to Burton

It looks like Burton Albion top scorer Jackson Irvine is still a doubt for the Brewers’ visit to Cardiff City this weekend.

Irvine 24 consecutive league games for the Brewers this season before an injury ruled the striker out of their 2-0 defeat to Wigan.

One to watch this weekend.
