No contract for Peter Whittingham, yet?

Warnock was today asked has Whitts been offered a new contract yet and Warnock stated "No"

Neil Warnock today confirmed Peter Whittingham has not yet been offered a new Cardiff City contract.

His current deal expires at the end of this season.

Peter Whittingham is currently on approx £20,000 a week, which was increased when City were in the Premier League.

Peter Whittingham is 32 years now and his current Cardiff City contract runs out in less than 6 months

Whittingham has played 438 times for Cardiff City, scoring 95 goals and, even at the age of 32, remains an integral part of the Bluebirds' side but Peter Whittingham's contract expires in the summer.

With Neil Warnock looking to shake up his squad in January, many have assumed Whittingham — Cardiff's longest serving player by a distance — will be one of the players to stay put.

I, for one, hope he stays with us.

I wouldn't be suprised if he gets offered a lowered contract later in the season. The club has a habit of leaving things late.

Not sure how they can justify not offering him 1.

Goals and assists ,our player of the season so far. We must keep him. Simple as.

Good player for the low wages he will be on, especially in this league we need championship experience to bring the younger players on. He won't set the world alight but knows this league inside out.

Whitts deserves a new contract IMO.

I think we should over a new contract on reduced wages but I still think we need to find the new Whitts a younger more tougher player with pace

I thought he was finished last season but he has been quality for majority of this season... he should get one

It's a no brainer that he should stay.
Still class.

Not a Warnock type player I got a feeling he's not going to get a new contract and possibly could go in January

Wez as I've said before if you had a player with Whitts ability plus he was tough and had pace he wouldn't be in the Championship.

With the scouting networks these days the next Steven Gerrard won't be languishing in the lower leagues.

Why can't our scouting network find a gem ? We are over due one ?

Because the rules are pathetic and big clubs can just snap kids up for next to nothing. Man City have already knickes Cardiffs best academy prospect for peanuts to the club.

Bellamy's involvement will make a big difference as has Warnock's beady eye on dismembering and reorganisation of an obviously rotten academy and development system that was ran by uni-coach career 'badges' with no common sense hence no end products. There's a few good guys there but you can count them on one hand.

Spot on both no nonsense guys with one aim, to get youngsters forward and playing for the first team :bluebird:

I cant even believe this is a topic for discussion - he is the best footballer at the club. Watch other teams live on tv or at the ground, and Whitts' deliveries into the box from set pieces and open play are right up there with the very best - without him we would be right in the relegation mire. I watched the Hull v Man City game a few days ago and compared Snodgrass to Whitts - and I would certainly retain Whitts over that player who is plying his trade ( albeit temporarily, in the Premier League ). No brainer Warnock - get that contract sorted and take into account his age - a Cardiff City legend who is one of the main reasons for my 150 mile round trip to every home game. :bluescarf: :ayatollah:

I would give him another year on reduced wages with an option of a second year if he is still doing the business for us. In my eyes he is a City legend and should get a testimonial. Happy new year everyone :occasion5: :bluescarf:

Maybe he is playing so well as he is playing fir a final contract. Pretty sure he will get one in the next few months, he's earned it.
